It's time to show this card more love (for sideboard), for any deck that runs red that has some sort of control plan.
Amongst the new trendy decks, it kills swiftspears and fatestitchers easily. Amongst the older decks, it stops arcbound ravager, kills tribe elder, and kills any infect creature.
It's also a sweet sb card to bring in against any deck with small creatures in general, so it's far from narrow.
P.S. I am aware that the thread exists, but it's like two years ago and the discussion was hardly relevant.
I see it as a card that is really good early game vs tempo decks such as delver, but with a lot of the field wither not playing creatures for the most part (Scapeshift, UWR, Burn) and the rest having 4+ toughness (Twin, Pod, Rock/Jund) it is really hard to have a card that is worse than other sideboard options and effective only sometimes against specific targeted decks. I could see it being an allstar against Ascendency Storm by taking out Conclaves and Fatestichers. I'd run it if I knew the meta going into a tournament, but in a wide open field I think that I'd want to stick to something with more versatility such as Electrolyze or Izzet Charm. None the less still a good sideboard card.
been using it against infect for years. has wider application now that the creatures in the format are slightly slimming down. (then you have siege rhino..)

I speak in sarcasm because calling people ******* ******** is not allowed.
My sideboard usually runs some number of Combust rather than Sudden Shock. But Sudden Shock actually does seem like a reasonable option in the current meta.

Not just the Tendo King, the power of the Galactic Leyline surpasses that of the Tempa Emperor, No!, It's magnificent power is even greater than that!
I've been thinking about this myself, but the problem is, Sudden Shock will likely become either very narrow or one of the best cards in Modern come January banlist update, so it will be interesting to revisit this then.
Why are people saying that it is narrow? You'd put it in your sb as you would any other piece of removal to deal with small creature decks. It's less narrow than forked bolt which people run in their sb as it comes in against more decks.
