-Shards get better in general. One reason that DRS was great was that it helped accommodate Jund's ambitious manabase, and this really helps shore that up.
-Burn and Zoo decks profit (for different reasons). Jund has better matchups in a meta heavier in them.
-Courser decks benefit, and Jund makes arguably the best use of it.
-Lightning Bolt is the main reason to play Jund, and not having a fetchland that reliably got red is the reason for the move towards Rock and Junk decks in the first place. This fixes that.
Sultai Charm has me interested in BUG again. I'm hoping it makes some sort of comeback. BUG in Modern has never really been a thing unfortunately. I have been running into a few Bant brews online, so i think TheNoob might be onto something with that.

Not just the Tendo King, the power of the Galactic Leyline surpasses that of the Tempa Emperor, No!, It's magnificent power is even greater than that!
Non Budget Bant Gifts is pretty similar, more consistent/expensive land base. Run shock lands and fetches, probably Detention Sphere because the mana base can handle it. Probably Cryptic Command but just as a one of.
I feel like people are forgetting how important Snapcaster is to a Gifts deck. Non-budget Bant would probably see 1 or 2.
It seems that RUG got a lot of love in this set. I'm really enjoying Savage Knuckleblade so much that I want to make a RUG midrange with him and Temur Ascendancy. Ascendancy might be a little slow, but if I just play 2 or 3, I think I can balance getting some value from it while not just folding to combo. I wanted to actually dip into white too so I could get Loxodon Smiter and have 2 solid 4/4's at the 3 spot, but that might be a little ambitious, even with perfect mana and Noble Hierarch. Regardless, top out the curve with Thundermaw Hellkite or the new Sarkhan, run some bolts, Snaps, counters, and Electrolyzes and I think it could be real fun.
I think Temur is cool, but fairly confused. It currently leans more toward midrange. Temur control still needs a few strong cards to push it.
Sultai got a few cute cards, but still lack anything to match the power of a lightning bolt + lightning helix package.
And its star rares are awful on average compared to Temur. Compare Sultai's Khan to Temur's, and Rakshasa Deathdealer to that Savage Knuckleblade.
Abzan is ok. It can take the stompy approach but it doesn't really have much in the way of meaningful tricks. The Charm is nice.
You don't call "dying to removal" if the removal is more expensive in resources than the creature. If you have to spend BG (Abrupt Decay), or W + basic land (PtE) to remove a 1G, that is not "dying to removal". Strictly speaking Goyf dies to removal, but actually your removal is dying to Goyf.

As soon as we see stronger UB cards get made, Sultai and Esper will explode.
Sultai is there, the charm was the last thing it needed. With abrupt decay and charm there is nothing you cant remove; with eternal witness/snap and discard/counter spells, there is a control deck there. Bolt/helix are not the same powerlevel they were 6-12 months ago, too much persist, tokens or just bigger butts floating around in the meta. Esper is there; the manabase was all that was holding it back.
The fetchs are gonna shake up the modern meta more than anything else we have seen. New and old shards/wedges are going to explode onto the scene now that the manabases are all equal.
I still feel everyone is sleeping on Bant Gifts, that deck can answer basically everything.
That it does. It has an inevitable late-game.
I actually played a similar deck for a while and it was awesome. My version was basically bant control with a gifts package in the board. Having access to bant charm is absolutely incredible for a control deck, but lacking early removal and nothing to really bridge the gap against affinity or vial decks makes the loss of bolt or other good black removal really hurt. I don't like gifts as a primary strategy because you'll have so many dead cards in every game 1, but post board with a stable mana base you just cannot ever lose after resolving gifts.
That being said I'm convinced that once esper gets some more attention it will climb up the ranks to a tier 1 control deck to give uwr a solid competitor for the go to control list. Utter end is also a very nice addition to the tool box since abrupt decay really prevents you from ever running detention sphere to answer birthing pods and Liliana.
