I've noticed more Sultai control lists around, did fatal push give it the push it needed? (pun intended)
is it something I should expect more often now, or is it just a fad?
Since Fabianno put it on the map, it didn't really showed up since the lastt months or so. I guees that with States results, it should be expected at least once in a while, but BUG in Modern is nowehre near what it is in Legacy. The combination of colours is not optimal, but with Push, it has more reach for a creature format and also some control elements that could be more relevant now. To me, RUG tempo is better than BUG control, but that's another thing.
Not sure where to post that question, but any news guys on the TCG States from last week-end? Any results up? Any report from whoever also? Thanks!!!
TCG has all the T8 decks on their site though their listing is pretty awful.
Thanks, the listing is in fact awful!
Yeah indeed it was, also I'm getting a bit annoyed with TCG/SCG not posting to MTGTop8 lately, neither SCG Regionals or TCG States seem to be getting posted.
Hopefully, MTGGoldfish has all the lists on the Modern metagame section and it's a pleasure for the eyes (TCG is horrendous with their listing)!
About the meta gaming, I played yesterday and I realized that the format seems slow to me. I mean, there's a shift toward more midrange and grindy decks, so pure race is not often the case. I guess I play test a lot against two of the most fastest decks of the format because of my friend : Storm and Affinity. Aside Grishoalbrand being the fastest of them all, it seems to me that combo decks can fare pretty well in a meta with a slower pace. I ran Living End yesterday against Tron notably and it was a piece of cake!

A lot of people are saying the format is getting pretty grindy. I'm new to Modern. I'm making the switch from Legacy to Modern pretty soon and I'm looking for a deck to play. I was considering infect or burn, but I'm a Pox player in legacy and I want to play 8-rack. In your guys opinions would 8 rack do better now that the format had slow down a bit? How viable will it be?

8-Rack is good now. Not the best archetype for competitive play, but if it has to be good, well it's pretty much right now because the meta is way slower.

Since I'm new to Modern what makes the meta a lot slower now? Isn't Death Shadow Aggro a fast deck?
Infect, Suicide Bloo could easily kill you t3 and they were t1-t2. Now they are t3 and slower. Deaths Shadow aggro doesnt kill t3, even t4 isnt common
You still think UG infect is still going to be prevalent in the meta?
I used the same symbols for tiers and turn-kills so this could make a confusion. I wanted to say that Infect, Suicide Bloo (UR Prowess) could easily kill you turn3 and they were tier1-2. Now they are tier3 and slower. Deaths Shadow aggro doesnt kill turn3, even turn4 is fast for them.
I think Infect will be tier2-3 depending on the meta and its much less explosive now.

In your opinion what decks will be tier 1, 1.5? Where do you think 8-rack will fall?

mtggoldfish.com has the latest and most accurate data, everything with 2%+ is tier2+
I dont feel powers to predict meta
8 Rack is not a deck that can survive sideboard hate
It is tier3 and will be there I tjink, maybe splash to tier2 and go back when people start packing hate

Alright, man. Thanks for the insight. I may just go with burn after all.
Burn is better than 8-Rack for sure. It's a tier 1 deck that can Top 8 any Grand Prix and that is pretty much eternal : nothing will get banned from it. Also, Goblin Guide is a reprint in MM2017, so it's getting cheaper and cheaper!

The meta looks fairly healthy. According to the data blue isn't nearly as bad as people seem to think. 4 ramp decks in Tier 1 is a bit concerning though I must say. Maybe we'll see Infect make a comeback to combat them.

I'm kinda surprised we still don't see more infect around, it seems reasonable powerful still, even without probe. I'd like to see something keep the tron decks in check anyways

Infect is still powerful, but is suffering from crossover hate. A lot of the cards good against DS Jund are good against them too. On the plus side DS is good against Tron so it helps keep it down too.

I'll take Death's Shadow keeping Tron down I guess. Death's Shadow is strong and popular but not miserable to play against. Maybe I just say that because I can't seem to do well against it with Grixis

This new Sultai list looks interesting, it is more of "Delirium Toolbox-Midrange" rather than a control deck though.
