So Top 8 looks like this:
Burn
Burn
Death's Shadow
Death's Shadow
Bant Eldrazi
Merfolk
Ad Nauseam
GW Company
6 aggro decks, a linear combo, and an aggro/combo. "Diversity."
That's disingenuous.
Burn, burn. Yup, two linear aggro combo.
Death's shadow--This is honestly just barely aggro, it's like an in-between aggro-midrange, and it's incredibly interactive and can grind. Not fair to just call it linear aggro
Bant Eldrazi is midrange, and people need to stop calling it linear, I messed with it a little bit on mtgo, it was surprisingly more interactive than I thought, I had just assumed it was turning creatures sideways based on the games I viewed
Merfolk is tempo, not aggro. It is linear, yes.
Ad Nauseam is a linear combo
GW Company is a beat down down deck
Sorry, Cfusion, you're being ridiculous, and this is coming from someone who wants to see blue do well
Merfolk is aggro. Tempo (which you don't see much in Modern nowadays) is about landing a threat or two and then riding out the game on them by protecting them, usually with countermagic. Delver is the quintessential tempo deck. Merfolk is about getting a bunch of creatures down and stomping over the opponent with them. That's aggro.
Guys please opinions on japanese cards. Lost a 3/3 creature against Japan celestial colonade. This guy played all creatures and spells in english cards, but some cards in his manabase was japanese. I dont registrated this really ( my brain say its all fine and all english to me lets attack his empty board)...and i am sure it is a Kind of legal cheating. It is not ok, but i know legal. I Hate such people. I never forget colonade normally, but with this Tricks it can happen one time in 3 years and such people take advantage of this
If I am a customer spending premium amount of dollars, I expect a premium service. Jund falls into the category of a premium deck costing more dollars than a majority of the rest of the format. I'm not getting the desired performance ratio per dollars spent out of the Jund deck because WOTC decided to make the format more diverse.

Alright, I'll concede to it being an aggro deck with some tempo then

Burn is linear and aggressive, Merfolk is linear and aggressive, Bant Eldrazi and Death's Shadow are somewhere in between "Midrange" and "Aggro." Maybe it's a stretch to call them strictly "aggro," but let's be honest about what they want to do: both want to kill you relatively quickly by powering out undercosted, high value creatures and turn them sideways. Ad Nauseam is a linear combo and GW Company is a creature beatdown deck with combo. I'd say that original classification isn't too far off at all.

I thought Todd had it game 2, when he opened up with 2 mana dorks, path, Goyf, and collected company I thought it was over for shadow. I definitely would have made a bad decision in his place

so Death's Shadow won the Grand Prix, was the winning Modern deck in the SCG Open team constructed event, and won this week's SCG Open.
That is a lot of success for a deck that is only about a month old.
It's probably still too early to ban the deck as I'd like to see the meta evolve more, but with so much discard spells I'm not sure what really beats it.
They'll probably wait till Amonhket release to ban if they decide to ban at all.
...I mean, I know I'm saying to wait a few months, but I've called it since the GP---the deck is so unfair it may need a bauble/wraith/Traverse ban (despite a lot of people disagreeing with me).
Ugh, Death Shadow in the top 8, it's going to eat a ban with this many top 8's (Not by tomorrow's ban, of course)
Jund is absolutely a dead deck with Shadow in existence.
Maybe this will get them to unban Bloodbraid Elf.
Nah, I think they just weaken Shadow enough to make it a irrelevant tier 2.5 deck so traditional Jund comes back. I think if Death Shadow eats a ban ramp and big combo won't really have anything to keep it in check though. I'd like to see a good unban to help combat DSJ instead, but I'm not optimistic

Worth noting that Ryan Overturf's take is that to attack Death's Shadow Jund, you want a deck that's good at putting the right card into hand at the right time.
Know anyone who fits that bill?

I think you're misunderstanding me. There are a number of blue cards on the banlist that put a card(/cards) into your hand, and Jace is definitely not my #1 pick from them. Or even number 2, actually.

No more ban talk here. I understand that banlist discussion happens during the more open tournament discussion in event threads, so no one is getting warned/infracted. But any posts after this one dealing with bans/unbans will be moderated accordingly.
Jace doesn't do anything to help blue against such a hostile playing field. You only end up making URx godlike versus decks they are already good against and does nothing to their bad match-ups.
So, by all means unban Jace, but when that doesn't work out then I'll be done showing pity for blue mages.
Edit: I was writing this post before the warning, fyi.
