Jadine going -1 to pitch that one Pulse was a major misplay that lost her this game. Too bad.
True, shouldn't discard Pulse. When playing Jund against Elves you want as much removal as you can get.
She discarded Pulse and still had another Pulse in hand (which she then cast). I don't remember what Lili was on at the time, but it definitely wasn't 3, meaning either she couldn't edict without killing Lili, or couldn't edict at all.
Edit: also, did I notice that right, that almost every single on-camera match today was decided on a final game multiple mulligan?
I'm still wondering what the hell she thought on that one.....
Probably tunneled on ticking to the -2 and valued that more than having two Pulse (for reference: not a good decision). She was also probably tired from a long weekend and many games. It's unfortunate because that misplay directly lost her the game. Sometimes people misplay but it's a compounding series of misplays/plays that seal the game. This one overwhelmingly came down to that decision and she lost the game (and then match) because of it.
Kinda sad, I was hoping for a first female invitational win. But cool with elves, and cool for a new guy. And cool that he won all his matches with elves. He had some luck, but he obviously knew his deck very well.

Well, losing the match came down to that play coupled with keeping a 1-land 6 in game 3. She saw a SB card in Grim Lavamancer and I think there was a bolt in hand too, but you can't really do that. You need to answer their haymaker threats on-tempo and you need land drops for that. A 5 with 4 land and a single removal spell is likely better than what she kept.
I'm also unsure why she kept Painful Truths in the deck post-board. That should have been one of the first cards cut.
Liam is from my local store. I play Jund, and we play regularly almost every Thursday. He crushes me almost every time. Elves has a VERY favorable matchup against Jund. I'm actually now switching to Kozilek's Return in my sideboard over Anger of the Gods to try to stand a better chance.
I am going to say knowing Liam Lonergan and having played against him I think the commentators seriously doubt his ability to play through spot removal and pressure. I have personal bias but luck really favors him here and I think it will wrap the tournament up in his favor *crossing fingers*

This is interesting to know. One of the 2 main reasons that I have yet to run Elves (it being actually my 2nd favorite tribe after Faeries) was that I felt that I wouldn't stand a chance vs. Jund. I would hate to get into a slugfest where I land a creature, they kill a creature, etc. I realize that there is Collected Company, Chord, and sometimes Lead the Stampede, but I figured these would get discarded early and leave me with creatures vs. creature removal. I had no idea of the matchup other than watching it twice at my LGS.
Now...the only main reason keeping me from playing the deck is that I don't know what direction to take - GW, GB, Gwb? I felt like I wanted Collected Company and Lead the Stampede, but maybe it's better to have Chord? Since I'm so unsure of what list to run, I have decided against buying back the 4 Gilt-Leaf Palace that I sold a while ago after a spike. I think they're even more now, but definitely not undoable.

I'm not sure if what I'm saying applies to the BG Elf decks, but Liam's GW deck is able to rise above most mainboard spot removal very quickly. Collected Company is a VERY powerful card. Post-sideboard really depends on what the Jund player has available to him. Most sweepers are very slow and make it difficult to combat more explosive starts from the Elf player. Kozilek's Return is fantastic in that being instant speed allows you to do it in response to a Lord, while being Devoid also allows it to kill off boards even with Burrenton Forge-Tender out. Still, the matchup is very difficult for Jund given the way the Elf deck explodes on the board.
Just asking out of curiosity, the black splash offers only Shaman of the Pack as pay off card while the white splash Forge-Tender (or Selfless Spirit) + SB cards?

Nice that Mardu performed so well!
I think with so much creature based decks in the meta, we will see more Mardu the next times, it has the best spotremoval of all archetypes.

I have actually been wanting Mardu to do well for a while as I too think it has the best spot removal. I was actually just talking to my brother-in-law last week about a potential Mardu build for Nahiri (though I didn't think Dark Confidant would make the cut) so it is nice to see it put up a second place finish.
If Mardu will be played more it will push out a few top tier decks like Infect and Zoocide out of the meta.
This will result in a comeback of Tron again.

Some GW lists also run Mirror Entity in main, but aside from that, your assessment is correct.
Nice to see Mardu on the top tables, it looks very similar to the Chinese list from the other week. Although the Dark Confidants are new and spicy/dangerous.

In play: Jund Death Shadow, Grixis Control, Eldrazi Stompy, Ponza
In the yard: RUG Delver, Kiki-Chord, Grixis Twin, Mardu Control, Smallpox, Jeskai Control, Jeskai Delver, Assault Loam, Elves, Deathcloud, Eggs, Storm
Running Dark Confidant and Emrakul in the same deck?! Seems a little too chancy.
Nothing new in Vintage, where you run Confidant along Blightsteel Colossus (Tinker target).
Beside this, "Greatness at ANY cost"
Greetings,
Kathal
But Blighsteel Colossus costs less (15 damage is practically game over, Blighsteel Colossus still leaves you with some life) and you have more ways to control your draw and therefore a lower chance of getting unlucky and drawing it.
You know what I am talking about.
If the champ used it everyone wants to use it.
If the winning goal in the finals of the World Cup Football is scored by a guy wearing Nikes everyone starts to wear Nikes. That is just how it works.

Worlds meta is very different from a regular meta so I highly doubt that people are playing bant eldrazi because BBD won. They are playing it because it has great matchups and it's a great blind pick deck since there is no anti sideboard card that really hoses it.
