Voidslime is awesome, I wish UG Flash were more prevalent in the format, because I would play that all day. Keranos, God of Storms is cool I run him in standard UWR control, will do some testing in Modern, thanks for the idea. Rune Snag is pretty cool too. Usually it won't scale up, because of Snappies, but I play it as a four of instead of Mana Leak and in my experience it hits early game when a Mana Leak would and the scale up late game is relevant, mostly because people will leave up 3 and not expect to pay four. Blighning needs to see more play in RB pox, and I think that Cry of Contrition should see more play in the same deck, as the haunt thrown onto an enemy creature which is then bolted or Dreadbored would be equivalent to cantriping the removal spell.
Voidslime - A week ago in the PTQ Khans of Tarkir thread, I noticed a UG Faeries list that got 2nd at a PTQ. It's actually a pretty awesome list! Keranos - I'm very curious about this card, as I've heard that it isn't too good. Then I see Pros using a singleton in their sideboards. I am confused and probably am going to have to play test the card myself to make the final call. (P.S. - I am talking about mainly in Scapeshift and UWR; sideboard only) Rune Snag - This was my favorite Coldsnap card when Coldsnap was legal (missed the boat on Dark Depths). It is very good. I think the main thing is that even Mana Leak is only used as a 3 of because they are not super effective against certain decks. I've definitely seen fewer Mana Leaks nowadays than I've seen in the past, but I will admit that Rune Snag can be great. Blightning - I used to wonder about this card myself. I think that turn 3 is just too slow to make someone discard 2 cards. I don't want to compare this card to Mind Rot or Stupor, but with the lack of Planeswalkers in Modern, the 3 extra damage is almost negligible. Blightning was super awesome at the time because Jund put the pressure on and kept it on. They had a 3/2 Haste that cast Blightning for free. I even played a Grixis deck at the time that had 4 Duress and 4 Blightning in the SB and swung certain matchups in my favor at the time. It's probably just too slow and the only deck that would play it is Mono Black Rack, which is mono colored unfortunately.
Interesting. It's funny that the only 2 decks I considered it for were Scapeshift and UWR. I assumed it would be better in Scapeshift since they can put it out as early as turn 3 and easily by turn 4.

Soltari priest and jotun grunt for me are the top two candidates.
Played both @ a PTQ event and I never lost a game vs proven decks in 7 rounds where I cast priest.
In a deck full of rancors, exalted, pump, etc he is nuts. So many modern matches end up in aerial and ground stalemate waiting for a combo to turn up.
Pro anger, pro bolt, pro terminate, can't be effectively blocked. It is ideal in ultra aggro white. Not so good in the more controlling white hatebear decks like d and t, but great in the more aggressive ones.
Grunt is identical- 4-4 beats a single bolt or anger. Rancor and beat in GW. In most games he lasts 3-4 turns on the board- remember he eats pairs from single graveyards, and with cards like horizon canopy you can keep him around a long time. Randomly shrinking goyfs and eating scooze, lavamancer and snappy fodder is just gravy. He is great in any hatebear deck- main deck. As sideboard hate he is not enough- he is not really bin hate at all. As main deck he is nuts. The drawback isn't a drawback most of the time. He is great in any hatebear list.
Also adding on
aura of silence. Great card vs boggles in conjunction with ghostly prison type cards, it also does the business vs affinity, stopping the all in ravager strategy, as well as sitting on the table vs twin, ready to pop vs the signature card whilst making it cost 6. Sadly the deck for this card does not really exist, and stony silence is a better affinity hoser, runed halo and skite better boggles hosers.
slaughter games- just the existence of this card makes combo decks have a plan b, so no one seems to run it.
I would have said slaughter pact till a couple of months ago, and threads of disloyalty.

Trust me, he is amazing in Blue Moon. He is an unkillable win-con in a deck that can easily drag out the game long enough for him and that runs less lands than most decks.
Snapper's ok, but I feel that as the cardpool stands currently he's only gonna find a place in sideboards. Something something something fetchlands impart a bias towards certain colors something something something better things to be doing than casting Convertible Turtle unless you're in a control-dense meta.
I'm pretty sure someone ran it in the side during some GP not too long ago, though...

I think that the problem is that Geist of Saint Traft just completely outclasses it.

In a consistent beatdown role, sure, but 1/4 makes for a fierce wall.
I played against a discard/kill things deck the other day, and I was just praying I didn't see Haunting Echoes, as it would have removed around 65-70% of my library.
Qasali Ambusher should see more play IMO. I feel like it would be great in Zoo as a surprise blocker.
Would be a lot better as a 3/4. I don't think you really care much about blocking bears in a deck like Zoo. (Dark Confidant would be worth it I guess.)
There are a lot of decks in Modern that it's just a Hurloon Minotaur against, and it's not really high-impact enough to be in the board. You'd really need a meta of like 90% aggro mirrors for that card I think.

I actually ran Haunting Echoes in Top Control for a while, precisely for that reason. In the end, I had to cut it because that deck just could not reliably get to 5 mana. But when it did, that card just ended games. Especially with all the greedy manabases around. I once managed to put a guy on 2 basics and 2 singleton non-basics as his whole library.

Yeah, it would probably be as a sideboard card that would come in against Affinity, Zoo, and maybe UWR Midrange and Jund. I still think it should see play in Zoo and Junk, if only out of the board.
I got so sick of having everything countered all the time, I put 2 in my UW Tron build. And I will frequently search for them with Expedition Map ahead of other Tron pieces. Casting instants, especially gargantuan Sphinx's Revs, without a thought about having them countered, is awesome. The coming into play tapped is a minor convenience for not having your spells countered. Truly, I can't figure out why this isn't used more.
And sure, sometimes it gets Tec Edged, but when it does it saves me from getting de-Tronned, or it saves my Colonades, etc.
But mostly silence. I always wanted NO-Stick to be a thing in modern.

Stick is a cool card/deck. I've had fun with it before and it would be neat if it became an actual thing. Silence really is much, much worse than Orim's Chant though.

Where Keranos really shines is in Blue Moon.
Storm Crow is strictly worse than Seacoast Drake.

I have scraped an insane amount of wins from Quest for Pure Flame. Including one the other day over TWO Kor Firewalkers.

And that's why you put Boros Charm on the Stick nowadays!
