I picked it up from my LGS for $25 I used my $50 store credit from the last couple weeks FNMs. Can't argue with that value. The only big investment I need to make is the Marsh Flats and Fetid Heath considering I already have the expensive pieces. I was pretty pleased with the deck with a few hours of play testing. What I've determined is that Caves of Koilos and City of Brass are so bad. You're almost better off running Temple of Silence. You definitely should slot in Godless Shrine ASAP.

Would Dark Confidant still be good if he punched you in the face for 5 damage a turn?
This event deck is not solid. It is not 'tightly constricted' and if you seem to think so then show me mtgo daily results where it won.
Obviously, this is a bit difficult to do considering it just came out, but I can easily find MTGO Dailies where similar BW Tokens decks did well. Forexample. Outside of a better manabase and access to Thoughtseize, there's not really that much that separates the event deck from those. The especially funny thing is that the shocklands and Thoughtseize are both in Standard right now and are pretty easy to get.
The deck certainly isn't fully optimized, but it still looks pretty decent and isn't too far from a fully optimized BW Tokens deck.
I am looking to start playing modern casually. I ordered one of these today. I plan on building a few other decks for my friends to play as well (most of my friends play magic, but own few cards themselves). This should be fun to play at least.

"To realize that all your life—you know, all your love, all your hate, all your memory, all your pain—it was all the same thing. It was all the same dream. A dream that you had inside a locked room. A dream about being a person. And like a lot of dreams there's a monster at the end of it."
Has anybody tried playing this out of the box against any of the established decks?
I have. It's mediocre to be honest. It does not have enough answers to the tier 1 decks and struggles to be even with tier 2 decks. It was useful to me in the end for all its parts in different decks so meh.

i have bought several sealed product below MSRP within 1 year from product release, to name a few:
2 DD: Elpseth vs Jace
2 Commander Decks (original wedge ones)
2 Events Deck that cost 50 now
my point is: give it more time
It looks like with a few more dollars you can make it a decent deck from what I skimmed there.
