Have noticed that Scalding Tarn is slowly rising up in price again. Is this because of the continued presence of Grixis Death Shadow decks in tier 1? Or caused by something else?
Probably because Storm and Jeskai Control are both good decks right now. I think GDS has actually been dipping a bit, so that likely isn't the reason. People may also be hedging for Delver with the printing of Opt, but I think it's too early for Opt to have any impact on the meta or other Modern card prices, if it ever will.
It's rising because the Masters series isn't meeting demand. Modern is growing rapidly and WotC isn't pushing out enough supply to keep the price steady.

WoTC, thank you for finally announcing the Modern format, an eternal format where everyone can participate.

Is it rising? I just looked at the mtgstocks graph, and it looks like it's been pretty much flatline since May. It hasn't dropped below 53 or above 55.60 since.

Hmm, now I notice that Storm has also been in the top tiers for awhile now...
I have nothing to compare it to.. but I could have sworn the tarns were only 50 something at SCg just two months ago.
Now there's just a few and have become expensive.
Thankfully the Verdants have not increased at all.. still at the 30-40 dollar range. The same as I've seen them a few months ago. I still need to buy four of these...
Guys please opinions on japanese cards. Lost a 3/3 creature against Japan celestial colonade. This guy played all creatures and spells in english cards, but some cards in his manabase was japanese. I dont registrated this really ( my brain say its all fine and all english to me lets attack his empty board)...and i am sure it is a Kind of legal cheating. It is not ok, but i know legal. I Hate such people. I never forget colonade normally, but with this Tricks it can happen one time in 3 years and such people take advantage of this
If I am a customer spending premium amount of dollars, I expect a premium service. Jund falls into the category of a premium deck costing more dollars than a majority of the rest of the format. I'm not getting the desired performance ratio per dollars spent out of the Jund deck because WOTC decided to make the format more diverse.
Glad WOTC is using iconic masters to get some of the more expensive artifacts that couldn't fit in the masters 2017 set, but they literally have a format that is too popular and growing too quickly for these limited reprints.
Anybody else keeping up with the Iconic Masters spoilers ? Holy ***** there's a ton of spicy stuff that's long overdue for reprints.

The list is looking really sweet. I wonder what street price per pack is going to look like - seems to be a ton of value in the set. I may finally get some Horizon Canopy ...

MSRP per Wizard's is $9.99 per pack. Given what's in it, I'll be impressed if anyone is giving a discount on that. Though maybe someone big like StarCity/Card Kingdom going $9.49 seems possible.
It'll also probably mean most Canadian shops are going to list them at $14.99 at best. Sigh.

Join the club. I've been saying they need more printings done on these high demand cards for ages and drop the prices on the masters sets to encourage more box openings by singles sellers.

1. (Ravnica Allegiance): You can't keep a good esper control deck down... Or Wilderness Reclamation... or Gates...
2. (War of the Spark): Guys, I know what we need! We need a cycle of really idiotic flavor text victory cards! Jace's Triumph...
3. (War of the Spark): Lets make the format with control have even more control!
I mean are packs really going to be affordable? How limited is the print run?
MSRP IS $9.99 boxes have 24 packs. So a box is $200 or so.
Not sure on the print run, but it's usually anemic.
More annoying is that, once again, this is draftable. It's not a set really intended to soften prices to any grand degree. This means rarity shifts (good for pauper too) but we'll get quite a bit of filler and chaff that might make the $200 price tag a bit rich. Though WotC does say, each pack is guaranteed a premium slot, whatever that means.

When WotC says "premium" card they mean foil. Reprint sets are 15 card boosters with a random foil replacing the basic land slot.
Ah... I figured that was the case but I wasn't sure.
I didn't open a whole ton of the last Modern whatever set but I don't think I found any useful cards (for me) from those packs. They're still sitting in a card box. I got more use out of the MM singles I bought.
So while I want to like the set, I'm not overly enthusiastic for it.

Idk value looks better already than any other masters set.
There's probably gonna be quite a bit of demand for Iconic Masters as it also feeds other formats. There's flusterstorm for legacy which is/was close to $100 and a bunch of flashy stuff with casual/EDH appeal. There's also likely to be demand for cards that got new art commissioned or are being reprinted with an alternate artwork. So unless the print run is MM17 level, I doubt that it'll impact prices too much in the longer term.
That said, it's probably still a good opportunity to pick up cards that are currently way overpriced (looking at you AV).

Yet another Masters set coming March 2018...yay? Really curious to see how the market responds to Iconic Masters followed up by 25th Anny Masters just 5 months later. Based only on the set names, it sounds like both products would contain the same types of reprints. I initially thought IM wouldn't do much to impact Modern, but now I'm not so sure that will be the case.
Side note unrelated to Modern prices: Return to Dominaria
If you actually read the announcement, you would know that IM is actually focused on iconic creatures (and types of creatures). Pretty different IMO than the "great cards from Magic's history" of 25AM.
Did you read the announcement? "Iconic Masters offers players a tour through some of the most powerful cards in over 20 years of Magic history. Featuring new artwork on many cards, the set brings an array of massive Angels, Sphinxes, Demons, Dragons, and Hydras alongside some of our favorite and most memorable spells"
The only difference is that the word 'great' replaces 'powerful'. It sounds more like a single set that either had too much value or too many inclusions, so it got split into two separate sets that Hasbro could slap the 'Masters' label on and milk dry.
I'm typically not one to toot my own horn, but hell, why not
What will happen to the prices of Mishra's Bauble, Serra Ascendant, and Consecrated Sphinx once the set comes out? Will they end up going back up in price over time? What is the chance of Surgical Extraction and Thorn of Amythest being reprinted?

Those like glimpse and the rest of the cards that are higher just do to low print runs will probably stay a bit lower imo. I have to think most of the high dollar stuff we've already seen.

Burnwillows and Bauble? Finally.
I had 4x Bauble in a shopping cart but wasn't able to complete my order until the next day, after Bauble jumped. Wasn't happy about that.
I hate the frame for Burnwillows. Don't complain much about art, but the future frames just get under my skin.
Where is the list you're getting this from?
Ah... OK. For some reason I thought it was a list generate by/from Hascon. Not sure why I thought that.
