So considering wizards seems to be taking a poop on modern, what are the odds they cash grab this MM17 and then starting printing modern stuff in eternal masters. IE putting the power level of this set at MM13 to get as much out of the format before suffocating it.
Value is good. But Dredgevine isn't supposed to be about value. It's supposed to be about V-8; 2000 pounds of nitro boosted war vegetables. The more velocity, the better.

What do you guys think of the expected value of Lili after MM2017 reprint? (assuming there will be at least 1/3 more of boxes in store than MM2015) Here in China there are ppl selling lili's at $60. Is it a good choice to buy them?
Look at the history of MM mythics. While they may see a slight dip in price directly before release and directly after, they always rise back up to their previous price.
It took a meta game shift towards burn/aggro and two printings to push Dark Confidants price down, and Goyf is still more expensive than he was before MM2013!

Right on.
Not to mention the absurd notion that reprinted card values are only decreased immediately before release and immediately after. Looking at MM15 as an example: Yeah, cards like Noble Hierarch, Karn, Spellskite, etc spiked after they were re-printed, but each of those cards saw their all-time low sometime between release (May) and December of that year. Essentially a six month time frame that gave players an opportunity to pick up what they needed; you don't need to be Barnaby ******* Jones to figure out that prices would start to increase again as more time passed, less packs were opened, and there continued a steady rate of demand. That doesn't factor in the period of time leading up to MM when some staples see a significant decline as people speculate whether they will be reprinted in the set or not. During this time, if you can't capitalize on the opportunity to pick up the reprints that you have you're eye on, then it's your own damn fault.

If it is Chinese version, maybe.
But if it is English version, indeed, the price is much lower than I expect. The current eBay price is about $75, TCG price is $90.
Is it a good time to buy dark confidant? 40 $ on cardkingdom
If you want to save a little money I see several copies from about $30 to $35 each on ebay.

Personally I have nothing I am looking to get from MM17 as I usually play fringe decks anyway. In the past modern was more optimistic than it was now, will this have an effect on the prices going back up considering wizards is cutting its ties with the format? Growth for the format will be hindered with an overall less willingness to invest in it. I don't have an opinion either way I am just playing devil's advocate because I am curious.

Playing millions of cards every turn... Slowly and systematically obliterating any chance my opponent has of winning... Clicking the multitude of locking mechanisms into place... Not even trying to win myself until turn 10+ once I have nigh absolute control... Watching my opponent desperately trying to navigate the labyrinthine prison that I've constructed... Seeing the light of hope fade and ultimately extinguished in an excruciatingly slow manner... THAT'S fun Magic.
We have 2-3 users that are dramatically making this thread incomprehensible and non-productive for anyone else to possibly join in the discussion. This needs to change.
Every time I see [ktkenshinx] post in here, I get the impression of a stern dad walking in on a bunch of kids trying to do something dumb and just shaking his head in disappointment.
Near Mint: The same as Slightly Played, but we threw some Altoids in the box we stored it in to cover up the scent of dead mice. Slightly Played: The base condition for all MTG cards. This card looks OK, but there’s one minor annoying ding in it that will always irritate and distract you whenever you draw it. Moderately Played: This card looks like it survived the Tet Offensive tucked inside the waistband of GI underwear. It may smell like it, too. Heavily Played: This card looks like the remains of Mohammed Atta’s passport after 9/11. It may be playable if you double-sleeve it to stop the chunks from falling out. The condition formerly known as "Washing Machine Grade" Damaged: This card is the unfortunate victim of a Mirrorweave/March of the Machines/Chaos Confetti/Mindslaver combo.
[M]aking counterfeit cards is the absolute height of dishonesty. Ask yourself this question: Since most people...are totally cool with the use of proxies...what purpose do [high] quality counterfeit cards serve?
Its also played a little bit in legacy. It is also one of greens card advantage engines.

Jesus, thats scary to see modern cards falling in price
Naw, that's pretty much to be expected. All the modern cards basically hold value strictly by the fact they are in demand for play. If that demand goes away the prices will be a lot lower than they are now.

If I am a customer spending premium amount of dollars, I expect a premium service. Jund falls into the category of a premium deck costing more dollars than a majority of the rest of the format. I'm not getting the desired performance ratio per dollars spent out of the Jund deck because WOTC decided to make the format more diverse.

Yeah, it took a $20 dip between July and now; par for the course trend in anticipation of Modern Masters. Definitely not a result of WoTC's announcement regarding modern support that happened like not even a week ago. It'd be great if that were true, however, because I'd scoop up $70 gofys all day.
I'm sure there's a handful of folks who are keen on MTGO prices, but most of the discussion is in regards to paper. MTGGoldfish is usually what I use to reference MTGO prices.
Online magic is just about the only place where modern and legacy can really be maintained realistically. WoTC has a snowballs chance in hell of keeping modern cards in print and affordable in paper long term because they only have so much print capacity and they keep doing 90% new cards each set. The card pool already has more cards in it than legacy did at the point modern floated in and the only thing keeping things from going completely out of control is that a good portion of that is unplayable outside of the limited format it's a part of. They can keep supporting top tier strategies, but then they might as well call it modern cube rather than non-rotating since the only cards really being maintained are the top tier. That being whatever was top tier during the design phase of the draft set for modern masters, which probably means at least a year ago.

Mmmmmm. Modern Masters season! I can't wait. Spoilers are 11 days away!
While it's always a crapshoot ordering early, I've locked in my 4 cases. Now to see what's going to be included.
We are pretty much assured Snappy and Lili, with Cavern and Goyf as possibles. Could also see Guide, Vial, Chalice and Bridge. Blood Moon is a no, Magic is moving away from 'unfun' as seen in Standard.
It's the little things that intrigue me at this point, the $10 - $25 cards.
Realistically modern cards won't plummet, If people start panic selling the prices go down. Considering one of the biggest deterrents to modern is the price, people will pick them up. There will always be a community who plays, even if it fades away it will have a player base. I have no intention of selling my modern decks because I enjoy playing them. If jund pieces start dropping like crazy I would gladly pick them up, I think jund would be a fun deck to play, it's just expensive to justify for me.
As for MTGO I think @colt47 nailed it. MTGO will be a place where vintage and modern will live on forever. Conisdering my last statement that there will always be people playing I think MTGO is incredibly safe, because if you can't find a tournament to play modern in your area you might sell your paper copies, but there will almost always be somebody online also looking to play that format. The cards are incredibly cheap and it's a decent platform to play on.
I am really thinking that Modern Masters 2017 is going to have some really good value. Like I mentioned early wizards is cutting it's ties with modern, so I can't imagine they continue with Modern Masters, assuming this is true they have no reason to not dump all of the value cards from modern (that don't see enough play in other formats to warrant their price) into Modern Masters 2017 to try and get everything they can out of the format before they leave it.
