If your deck is playing lots of cards that want turn 1 red or black, then Blackcleave Cliffs is incredible. I love it in Loam Pox, where I'm often trying to cast Faithless Looting turn 1 and Smallpox on turn 2. There aren't a ton of ways to do that painlessly, but playing Blackcleave Cliffs turn one is one of them.
Then again, I bought my set for cheaper than one costs now. Modern prices are insane.

It's surpsising that Blackcleave Cliffs has increased in price so much. It sees play mostly in Jund but Jund isn't doing super good now and thus Blackcleave Cliffs doesn't see much play.
Any ideas of what will happen to the prices of the new Eldrazi: Thought-Knot Seer (15), Reality Smasher (10), Eldrazi Mimic (6)... Is standard enough to keep their prices where they're at over the course of the entire time they're legal or will they drop in price at some point. I think we are all fearing the worse for Modern so I'm wondering if other format demand is enough to keep their prices where they are currently.

These cards are currently played more than lightning bolt is in modern. Let that sink in. Once the bans happen they will lose at least half of their price.

On mtgsalvation people don't want to discuss ideas, so I give people something else to discuss: my controversial opinions.
Honestly TKS and RS are solid cards without a broken deck to be played in. Both are resistant to removal and both have immediate impact on the game. Ultimately their viability comes down to how troublesome the colorless matters theme becomes following the ban. I think they'll drop a bit after the ban but I wouldn't be surprised to see them creep back up.

Also consider when standard rotates in a few months. No more Siege Rhino, Anafenza, Mantis Rider, Kolaghan Storm Fury, Rally the Ancestors, etc. Thought-knot and Smasher will be threat #1, and in demand for standard at least. TKS is probably good enough to be used in other modern midrange decks, even without the acceleration.

Fair points. There will probably be a dip in prices of about a week I'd expect. I'll make sure to look out for that.

TKS is still a 4 drop creature that will only see play in blue tron style decks since ramping into it is usually not worth it. reality smasher doesn't fit into any modern decks besides some tron variant without sol lands.

I've recently learned that Eldrazi decks will simply switch to Urza lands after an Eye ban.
Yes, they lose the explosive Eye and multiple Mimic/Endless start, but an Eldrazi Temple enables them to throw one or the other out turn 1 and 2 to stall you, and then turn 4 they can get the Urza cycle down and you are right back up against it. Or they'll simply race you to turn 3, counting on their huge power imbalance to recover board position after that 3rd Urza land gives them 7 mana.
Without Eye, they don't need Urborg quite so badly. That's up to 8 land spots opened up for the 12 land spots needed.
Finding 4 other spots is not hard.
The only consolation for those running against this new iteration is that it generally runs 3 or 4 Expedition Map to solidify the consistency of a turn 3 cycle. That's 3 or 4 less Eldrazi coming at you.
I could see wanting to play Living End against Eldrazi, game 1 seems like an easy thing to win. Game 2 and 3 when they board in relics and RIPs however makes it way less appealing.
Just noticed that Horizon Canopy is now over 70 dollars each at SCG, and only very few left there as well. Is there a popular Modern deck that is using a lot of this land?

popular card from a 3rd small relatively underprinted set. Its played in boggles, death & taxes, abzan company, and sometimes in hatebears in modern, and has legacy play. Also, it has a unique ability for a land.
Glad I was able to pick up some japanese ones on ebay a few months ago for relatively cheap.

The best of the painlands. Comes down early, fills your G/W needs, and then replaces itself when your mana is stabilized. I'd rather have that than the ability to tap for colorless mana.
Ok thanks. That's what I needed to know. Hmm, so it's used in those decks.
I got 3 of them approximately 5 years ago for 3.99 each at SCG. Previously, used them in Legacy zoo. But I did not know their use in Modern, which is why I asked here.
Blackcleave Cliffs see's play in Grishoalbrand too, am I right? I always thought the price spike was because of said deck and as a result of last months PTQ OGW since everyone was bringing every known deck to win that event after bans.

it's a one-of in Kiki Chord as well, a deck that's slowly picking up in popularity.
Get ready for another crazy round of spikes as people try to position for the Post Twin, post Eye ban.
Basically what should have happened Jan 18-31, but got pre-empted by an anti-Eldrazi round of (seemingly mostly white) spikes.
Particularly, look for Infect and Affinity staples to really take off. Need Hierarch or Ravager? Both could hit $70 or more in the coming month.
I think in addition to Infect and Affinity spikes we'll be seeing a number of Burn Spikes (Eldrazi is it's worst matchup, and it being gone makes burn MUCH better again) - Goblin Guide, Eidolon of the Great Revel, Lava Spike, etc.
What does everyone think of Voice of Resurgence? It is the only thing I need to finish up Abzan Company. I can run the deck without it for a bit, but I do want them eventually.
I actually think they might go up post Eldrazi ban :/

The Voice spike already happened on January 15, 2016. The card's still in its post-spike cooldown period. Abzan Company may get worse post Eldrazi because some of its bad matchups become more viable.
