Any thoughts on picking up foil Kolaghan's Command? Right now, the cheapest foils on TCGplayer are roughly $70/each. However, the promos are going for ~$25/each. Normally, I don't tend to value promo foils the same as the real deal, but I'm tempted to pick a few up.
Wow when did that happen. I traded mine away at around $36 because I thought with the promo it wouldn't get to that price.
I was wondering the same thing... when did the foils spike so hard? I picked up 5 at around $25 apiece awhile ago hoping it would appreciate in value down the road once the set was out of print... but wow didn't expect this already...
Anybody know? I thought Atarka's Command foils would spike first honestly...

Started in Ice Age...got both old and new, from Power 9 to Present Day sets...just ask or name a card!

Also beware of some sellers on TCG; I've had a few instances of this past week of some giving me a refund on these high demand cards because I got them before the spike but a few days later "they can't find any in stock". This has just happened to me with Urborg and some other Eldrazi cards.
Can't you report the seller to TCG for things like this?

If they're anything like eBay, no. Best they'll do is refund you the money themselves if the seller doesn't do it on their own. No way to force someone to send product, but you will at least get your money back. Happened to me when BFZ launched and I pre ordered a bunch of fat packs. Learned my lesson.
I thought TCG required sellers to honor all pre-spike prices.

I would like to stress that I've only personally had that happen to me once. And that was with BFZ pre-order fat packs and booster box. Another notable purchase during a spike was Scalding Tarn. I bought two more for $46 and $48 from two different sellers to complete my playset within 10 minutes of the announcement that it wouldn't be in BFZ. Within 2 hours it was over $100. I got my cards just fine. Depends on the seller and if they are aware of immediate spikes and/or if they are honorable sellers or greedy scumbags.
Its only been a couple hours but the Promo Kolaghan's Command is up to almost 70.
That said i ordered a few cards to finish some decks this week and most of them have risen but none of them have arrived yet, though should have either yesterday or today (i usually get my mail in the next 2 hours), should i contact the sellers or TCG if they didnt end up shipping them?

Maybe because it does not kill Eldrazis? Here in europe, everything that the new Bx Eldrazi Deck is playing, is going up in price.
Abrupt Decay is being played less and less in modern. Without a truly dominate blue deck (other than tron) the uncounterable clause doesn't make it the godsend it once was when UWR and Delver were huge, it's meta share continues to decrease as decks that want to run it have to diversify their answer package.

Heck, even Beast Within is trending slightly up and I think that has to do with the fact that it is seen as a decent removal spell against fat creature decks. Playing an Oblivion Sower will still get the cast effect, but a 3/3 beast is way easier to attack through. That is pure guesswork on my part, though.

It is true it's bad against the Eldrazi, thoguh it is worth noting that Abrupt Decay was seeing less play well before the Eldrazi deck came about because it had the problem of being unable to kill a Tasigur or Gurmag Angler.
The abrupt decay argument makes sense (although i would probably board it out vs UWR lol).
In a another note. I just bought 4 Sword of the meek for 1 dollar each!. I know you think "well, nice proxies you´re gonna get", but in fact the price is correct. This happens because i live in Uruguay where the Euro and the US dollar are at the same price!. Also they were a little bit cheap, but well it was nice to get some cards that undercosted.

I think there's always going to be a spot for Abrupt Decay as long as Twin is the Best Deck in the Format™, or even just one of the pillars. Instant-speed and uncounterable is just that good. But I do think it's in a definite decline, and that we'll see Maelstrom Pulse pick up some of the slack.

I'll get Ulamog first. This card can quickly rise as it will see much use in standard. It has potential to reach Ugin's level pricewise because it is also played in Modern. Only the sheer amount of BFZ packs opened is what keeping it in check. I'll buy Blood Moon next as it is a general sideboard for most decks especially that Tron and Eldrazi are getting rampant. Monastery Mentor would be my 3rd pick as it is usually played as a 4 of and is a mythic from a set not widely opened which are all factors for a potential price hike.
I don't know about Mentor... Does it see a ton of play in Standard? It sees a bit of Legacy play but almost no meaningful Modern play. I don't even think B/W tokens plays it.

Blood Moon, Keranos, Engineered Explosives, Wurmcoil, Maelstrom Pulse, and Slaughter Pact are the most stable at th emoment and probably wont dip or rise too much unless a deck shows its top tier or they get reprinted in the near future.
Mentor should drop at rotation some. Unless a Modern Deck pick it up and becomes competitive.
Ulmong has the ability to jump some with Oath coming out and the new Eldrazi deck in Modern. Probably should be first concern.
Decay is on the decline at the moment and can be got pretty cheap.
K Command is the wild card. Depending on what/if there is a unban K Command could spike hard or stablize.
If it was me, Ulamog and K Command should be first priority now.

Yep. Terminate, Dismember, Go For the Throat, and Maelstrom Pulse are just more versatile right now.

I think there's always going to be a spot for Abrupt Decay as long as Twin is the Best Deck in the Format™, or even just one of the pillars. Instant-speed and uncounterable is just that good. But I do think it's in a definite decline, and that we'll see Maelstrom Pulse pick up some of the slack.
