Hmm, Rhonas is around 5-6$ now. Not as low as Hazoret but is still affordable.. you only need one for Stompy anyway.
Collective Brutality will never go down. It's only by luck that I have two.. because a good friend gave them to me as Christmas present when they were around 7$ each, did not really get them myself. I have developed the habit of keeping both in main of my bgx, because of sentimental value.
yeah i remember calling brutality as being busted early on. i just wasnt/arent playing decks that would use it. pretty absurd price for a rare.
i picked up a hazoret on the cheap, very low risk at that cost. not that i plan on using it any time soon, but if it saves me a couple bucks some time down the line, then ill consider it a success. im waiting to see if chandra tod bottoms out at 5 before picking up a copy.
oh yeah and i got a copy of t-gearhulk for $1.50. not that it sees a lot of play, but i figured it cant really go lower than that lol.
i think the only other cards im waiting on from rotation are a few copies of the fast lands, and the scarab god.

Hazoret? Being worth something? Oh, have I got news for you on that one given the supply on challenger decks.
1. (Ravnica Allegiance): You can't keep a good esper control deck down... Or Wilderness Reclamation... or Gates...

I think Walking Ballista has already stayed near $12 and I also noticed a HUGE spike on foils. I saw some at nearly $80 Sometimes the foil prices foretell a future for the non foils going up.
I think it will just depend on how much those cards are used in Modern and potentially EDH (I don't know much about the current state of this).

walking ballista is so expensive in my country around $20 , I want to buy a set but dont really need it so I'm not buying it until it goes down, which I dont know if that will happen.
This thread is full of idiots... Lightning Bolt is NOT being reprinted.
Many times has a writer in Wizards said so, because of the plain and simple fact that it's too powerful for what it costs. x/3 creatures shouldn't be able to die at instant speed for one mana without a signifigant drawback. (like PTE giving you a land)
I absolutely guarantee that LB will not be printed in M10, and you can quote me on that.
yeah i certainly underestimated it. i wrote it off as just another generic mediocre mythic phoenix (you can see i even said as much in one of the spec threads). cant see myself going out of my way to play it in modern, but i have like 90% of the UR arclight deck on arena.

yeah, its trending on magic online and has seen some minimal paper results (like SCG IQ top 8 level). it hasnt posted results definitive in large tournament settings, but the decks using it are largely getting positive reviews by the community (from what ive read).
the decks using it are still in their formative stages, but here are some quick examples:
I don't know if it's just autumn depression, but I just did my round of card price check at local stores and I've seen modern cards down by $2 or more (excluding the most expensive staples, compared to last week). Maybe they suspect or know a modern master set will be announced for next year. Maybe it's just some unrelated price adjustments.

Probably because Standard popularity is up right now.

Yep, and SaffronOlive mentioned a few days ago that prices have probably bottomed out as they often do around rotation across the board.
id call it a mix. normal depression, standard popularity, and importantly arena; which ties into standard popularity. not only is standard play much more accessible through arena, people are fearful of its implications on paper magic; particularly for modern. so when prices are visibly dropping because of routine forces, but there is higher uncertainty, more people are inclined to sell so as to avoid losing too much.
therefore its expected for prices to be low, but i wouldnt be surprised if the bottom is particularly low this year.

I cannot find any of the UR Foils on my normal sites for this last set. They are not even expensive they just dont have stock, are there any stock issues with this one?

MTGO prices are also way down. My bundle of cards I sold in 09/2017 is down literally 50%. It's actually a great time to get into Modern on MTGO because cards are so cheap. As a player, to be clear; not an investor. At this point, you'd have to be really risk-tolerant to "invest" in MTGO and try to turn significant profit. Arena is very likely the way of the digital MTG future, and every time Arena gets a little better and more the MTGO value seems to drop. Does that mean Wizards will discontinue MTGO? Probably not. It just means the value of MTGO collections will likely continue to fall. I'd manage those collections accordingly.
Hell, to veer away a bit even reserved list cards are either holding or falling a bit in value. I'm not totally sold on this yet, but the winter might be a good time to pick up a playset of something expensive, assuming no masters set for 2019.

Between the UR spells decks and Jeskai Control, there's a lot of popularity among the colors for actual real Standard decks this time around. Playing Standard on Arena these days means I haven't been following paper/MTGO costs of standard cards these days, but holy price spikes and unavailability!

But with the way arena works, wouldn't you have to collect modern cards slowly? Doesn't that make playtesting for modern kinda poor?
While cheaper cards would mean more players, WOTC is not in business for any reason besides making money. They price a product to try to hit a mark of efficiency where they are able to sell as much as they can for the best overall margin. If they produce too much, the marginal change in profit decreases to the point where it just costs them to make it because everyone gets what they need and extra product sits around until it gets discounted to move. If they decrease prices, they make less per box and miss their corporate goals.
Look I don't want to be mean, but economics is about satisfying unlimited wants with limited resources. It isn't rational to believe that you should just be able to have every card you want without giving something up. I'm just starting to expand beyond my one modern deck, but I also temper myself by saying "hey, I don't need X." That's a reality of life. In short...dude you got ten decks...
yeah mtgo prices were expected to drop (ptq season over, new standard, etc), but its even more dramatic because of arena. its a good time to get in because its basically confirmed that arena won't support modern or beyond for at least a few years (as well as some features in line with facets of competitive magic). so if you assume that modern remains remotely as popular as it has been, then the prices will rise again at some point. maybe not as high as their various peaks, but rise nonetheless.
just make sure to temper your expectations for return on investment. the mtgo market is volatile/fickle since its all digital.

Walking Ballista, Hazoret the Fervent, and Chandra, Torch of Defiance are all capped by the challenger deck supply. Same with Fatal Push, but the demand on that card is so high that it still can grow even with the extra supply.
