What do you guys think of the new Crucible of Worlds? It'll fall in price, but will it bounce back? Is it even played anywhere in modern and legacy?
It sees some fringe play; it is more of an EDH card though. The price is going to absolutely plummet. It doesn't seem like it will be a serious player in standard, and even if it is, the amount of new supply is going to kill the price.
That depends what you mean by "bounce back". Every card that has lasting appeal outside of standard slowly creeps up after the post rotation crash. That will certainly be the case here as well but I expect the price to be in the ~$10 range a few months after the set release. My guess is we never see it approach anywhere close to what it was before the reprint was spoiled.
Spot on. It's essentially the new Damnation; a long-awaited reprint with a high price tag that sees little competitive play. IMO, I'd be surprised to see it break and maintain the $20 mark.
This core set just continues to prove if you have any fringe playable cards worth anything just sell them and don’t sit on anything in mtg (reserve list excluded). Imo the days of collecting cards are long over. Staples are all you want and then stay away from decks with cards over $30 if you worry about the price of your cards dropping.
Yeah I agree with this, just sold out of a few playsets of Black cards (stuff for Grixis Control/GDS) and don't regret it at all, it will all get reprinted eventually.
what interactions does scapeshift bring to standard? i'm surprised this wasn't printed in a modern masters.
why is valakut the molten pinnacle spiking? i would think primeval titan and khans fetches would absord the difference in price. on top of that i think there is a 10% chance valakut gets reprinted into standard too.
alpine moon and the new amulet could work as hate cards against a valakut/scapeshift combo
i guess what im saying is that if valakut pieces are being artificially bought out then its a risky buy.
Valakut is pretty easy to reprint into a standard set without breaking things, so I wouldn't be surprised to see it in the next core set. It's also possible they reprint it sooner in the next commander product, but a core set seems like a safer bet.

It’s more powerful than ramunap ruins and we see that on the ban list. Idk that it’s safe to be in standard.
Depends on how good the ramp and ability to find lands is. Without its Titan, I don't see it being that strong. Granted Red is terrorizing Standard enough already so maybe WOTC should take a break from the Red Bias and help Green and White out.
Price question. Someone wants to buy my playset of near mint M11 Steel Overseer for 60$, is this a fair enough price already?
Well if you sold them to card kingdom for cash you'd get $56. For credit you'd get $72.8. Doesn't seem like a terrible deal for you if you don't plan on using them.
Ok, thanks for that info. My Affinity does not function anymore because already sold the opals and ravagers.. the overseers are the last pieces I have that are still worth a little money. Not being used, I just want to sell them.

You're saying this with the knowledge that Scapeshift is in M19? Don't they really like to avoid 2-card-combo in Standard?
Not necessarily. It's more a matter of the shells available and if it can go infinite. Wizards doesn't want a deck that works like saheeli cat, where the combo answers weakened the opposition against its other win conditions.
Looking through the card selection right now you might be right that they will reprint it in a supplementary product instead.

Jesus H Buyout. Chalk it up to insider trading or some intern spilling the beans, but it appears we're in for an un-ban as Stoneforge has been systematically bought out across all major vendors and currently sitting at $70; handful of eBay copies left at $40.
So glad I bought some a few months ago and a Batterskull to accompany them. I'm still gonna double over laughing though when it doesn't get the unban (yet).

Right? It's typical for her to go up before every single B&R announcement, but nothing to this extreme. After comparing the listing prices to market prices & eBay recently sold, I take back the part about it being a buyout. It appears that vendors either de-listed their inventory or jacked up the price; considering there's zero regulations on the secondary market and anyone at WotC could theoretically shoot a tex with early unban details to someone at SCG, CF, etc, it looks like this could be the time her ban is finally lifted.

Do spikes like this usually follow the community's high approval rate for an unban? I started watching more of the finances when Jace and BBE came off, so I missed whether or not his spoiling was signal enough for the community or not.

It's more that this has been the first time a high profile unban has happened. Sellers now realize that Wizards actually is capable of unbanning things, and Mystic is such a joke on the banlist. It costs them nothing to jack up their prices for a week before the unban date, and let it slowly decline if it isn't unbanned. But if it is, they make hella bank. There's no opportunity cost. It isn't like Mystics see a whole lot of sales outside of right before potential unbans by speculators.

If there would be an SFM unban... glad that I still have two of them and a SoFaI. Would be selling once the unban happens. hehe ^___^

Considering she spiked every January for 3 years in a row (2014, 2015, 2016), it's just a thing that happens when where is an anticipated unban.
Either way, I'm prepared with 8x copies of the GP Promo, 4x copies of the WWK standard, 2x Batterskull, 2x Sword of Feast & Famine, 2x Sword of Light & Shadow (1 foil), 1x Sword of Fire & Ice, 1x Sword of War & Peace. Most of those live in various Commander decks, but the extra copies are hard specs.
It makes me a bit sad because I figured Wizards would take their sweet time with Mystic. I have 15 regular copies, but I wanted to get that to at least 100. 4 GP Promos and 10 foil Worldwake copies. Those weren't cheap...

Scored 2 GP promo Stoneforge Mystic at local stores for $27 CAD! Pretty happy with that. I already have my playset of regular Zendikar SFM for Legacy, so I may be flipping them if they get unbanned. If not, I'll be sitting on them for a while, until they go back up.
immensely.

It was the release-weekend promo for Zendikar. So there’s a decent amount of extra supply out there from that relative to most other Zendikar rares.
