When do they finalize print runs? I am curious considering sales were down prior to DOM might be a good time to goose the sales since they seem reticent to pump the power. I mean yeah Dominaria is stronger then Amonkhet and Ixalan but its still weaker then Kaladesh.

multicolored blocks are usually higher powered in general. for sales though wizards doesnt need to do anything but put 'ravnica' on the label. the guilds concept resonates exceptionally well with the playerbase.

shocks and fetches in the same block would be ludicrous. shocks + the checklands will easily support 3 color decks. what they will do in the third set is an interesting question though.

im actually hoping they do scry lands in the core set.

In Return to Ravnica Shocklands and checklands were more than enough to enable 3 color mana bases. Jund, Junk reanimator, Esper/Jeskai Control were all prominent. That's not even to mention the 5c door to nothingness, 4c midrange and various other 3 color nonsense. I would be 100% shocked if they didn't reprint the shocklands.

That being said the expectation of a return to return to ravnica has been rampant among the player base and there hasn't been as much speculation in those lands as a result. The current price will probably hold with maybe a small dip until the actual reprint when supply begins to come in.

yeah from theros block with scry being evergreen now. the 'temple of X' names are generic enough, and the land cycle was well received during its time in standard. figured itd be a decent time to bring them back.

They won’t print fetches because that sets back any new format from starting befor it. They don’t want fetches in any new format they make and with arena starting about where we’re at I’d assume it’s starting here.

Referring to the part I put in bold. Haha, that's a good one. A good one. You made me laugh, and I'm saying this in a non sarcasm way ok. Well, who knows, one of those packs might indeed have a Karn or Teferi.

On a more serious thoughts.. I do wonder what would be the ceiling for Karn before his price starts dropping. 80$? 90? 100?

Right now he seems to be flattening out. Whether that will hold true over the next few weeks we will see. So the current peak may have passed.

I've been tracking on eBay ever since I sold mine. He's been plateauing between $55-60 already, and is unlikely to see another big jump unless there are like 20+ copies in the PT Top 8. But even then, there will be plenty of more product being available and opened by then too.

I've been extremely lucky on Karn (got 4 from sealed and draft events and prizes) and I'm getting out now. It will be a force to be reckoned with in Standard, yes, but I don't think he will be as ubiquitous when the artifact-heavy Kaladesh block rotates out. And I simply believe he is too slow for Modern, except in a few decks that I don't intend to build (affinity, Eldrazi Tron).

yeah its hard for a hyped up super splashy mythic rare that is already seeing tons of play to have a breakout performance. a new or modified modern deck might do the trick. karn in affinity may be a thing, but the deck needs to prove that its noticeably better than it was before.

Yeah Teferi has the easier job, he seems to be bumping Jeskai up by a significant amount whereas Karn is mostly likely to make the rich richer.

Well, he is Modern, Legacy, and Vintage playable, as well as being an EDH staple. His floor is probably 40$. He's only going to get more powerful as more powerful artifacts enter older formats. Teferi though is the overpriced one. Dual color and only modern playable in 1-2 decks. He'll be 20-25$ in 6 months.

I feel like Teferi will be like Chandra, Torch of Defiance or Liliana, The Last Hope. Good, but not game-breakingly good. And I'll probably do the same thing I did with those cards for URx shells: Buy them, jam them, and then watch them sit in my storage box of "stuff I intend on using at some point" after being somewhat underwhelmed or moving on to a different deck. I can't imagine he will go up much, unless it puts multiple copies in the Top 8 of Vegas. And it will start coming down once more copies are opened in the next Dominaria shipment waves.

So Battlebond is looking pretty spicy as far as EDH and Legacy reprints go. Curious if Modern will get any goodies.

kor spiritdancer reprint. not much, but its something. wouldnt be surprised to see a few others of the like.

but yeah the set has some definite value packed in. interested to see if any of the set specific cards have legs in legacy or vintage.

They don't at least at a glance mostly because they are so overcosted so far. Assist leads to overcosting.

yeah unlikely that any card will be able to abuse the set mechanics like with conspiracy, but supplementary products are known to break the mold of modern era design conventions in regards to power. its arguable that its the best way to introduce new cards to eternal formats.

card probably wont see play since flash is restricted in vintage, but the design is still busted.

Yes if it had flash you might see...although its main use seems cheating in overcosted walkers which Tron already does pretty easily on Turn 4.

Spell Snare reprint at uncommon is nice.

unlikely imo. its an iconic card that was already pricey because it sees play in other formats. even if jace isnt the format destroying monster that many people predicted, the card is still seeing play; which is a source of demand that didnt exist before. price memory is also a thing.

i could see the card going down over time, but not by much within the next 6 months.

If Jace's price falls, it will be because Teferi becomes a much cheaper, arguably more effective substitute. When Jace had a monopoly as the best PW to run in a blue-based deck you had no choice but to pay for a card that had an additional premium due to its status and history. If enough people say "well Teferi is just better" in their UW and jeskai decks, those Jace prices will fall as the sellers realize there is another option.

Assuming Teferi and Jace aren't Control's Finest, a dynamic duo so to speak.
