I think it's definitely because of the branding of the Moxen. And, as a conditional Mox, there's always the possibility that some build breaks it as wide open as Mox Opal is by Affinity. Not a very likely chance, but it's a safer bet for sellers to start it where it is than to lowball and be bought out as soon as any cohesive list is found.
Is Mox Amber where it is on name alone? I didnt see it all day on SCG, any format.
There's brewing happening on MTGO that is driving the price on some paper cards. It's still speculation, but it looks like the deck is solid. Trying to find some lists to show...

More relevant for Standard, but I know I was giving them a look for Modern -- Settle the Wreckage has basically tripled in price over the past week and is still rising. I scoffed at the lone playset for $25 shipped on eBay a week ago, thinking they were still in the $4-5 range. Ah well!

I go to my other PC looking to pick up a few off my normal site, and in the time I go down the stairs...gone lol.
I have been looking pretty hard to find a decent deal on the OG foil Sacred Foundries. They are becoming pretty difficult to find for a good price. Tried FB groups and Ebay. Anyway I can get this card for at lest 55-60 dollars? Or all OG shocklands going to keep rising for the next couple of months?
Yeah, to be honest, without the Khan's printing to open the door, and then MM17 to really open up the lands to everyone, I dont know that Modern see's all the growth it did.
That said, the original prints of shocks at 40 is...high.
Agreed on all things you said about khans fetches, those lands really did an amazing thing for the format. I have a bit of a bad feeling though.. that WoTC would reprint them only as mythic rares in a masters set after some years have passed.. because that's what they did with zen fetches.
Oh, and the shocklands aren't really 40 right now. Vents are among the more expensive ones, and they're just at 30. Probably even cheaper on some vendors at TCGplayer.
EDIT: I guess zen fetches were reprinted at rare. My mistake.

Return to Ravnica is still out there for like 90-100 dollars a box. I'd just go draft some RTR with friends or do pack wars instead of bothering with the singles prices on those shocks right now. Heck, Gatecrash is still 85-90 dollars.
I'd say the four boxes that feel good to open right now:
Iconic masters had almost no hype powering it and as such the value of the boxes is very similar to how conspiracy 2 was. Conspiracy 2 was an insane set with a lot of really good cards, just it got sandwiched in a nightmare land of way too many products. Unfortunately, Wizards sounds like they are still going to be trying a lot of products as usual, just instead of making big waves about each one they are doing small releases in test markets first, then if it sells they are rolling out the heralds and trumpets with fireworks flying in our face.
The upside is that this could mean more high priced cards sneaking their way onto the market in low priced packages. The downside is that if those products don't actually sell, they'll be a short lived memory.

Teferi is spiking. If you play Control at all, get em quick.
Question 1: Where are you getting your information? They spiked a week ago. Now they're settled and are actually dropping. You can get them for $30-$31 on eBay Buy It Now, and the auctions are going for around $27-$30. That's $7-$10 less than when it spiked.
Question 2: Are you so certain that he's a Modern staple that "Get them now" during peak demand and minimal supply is bulletproof advice?

Obviously everyone's wrong time to time, but I'm inclined to agree. This is possibly the most in-demand set in Magic history, with a triple-DOM draft format. Teferi is great in Standard and will probably be a staple for his stay in the format, but compare him to Gideon, Ally of Zendikar. Gideon was a 1-color 4-drop who was a staple in many decks, often run as a 3-4-of. He peaked at $40, immediately after his release. Within 3 months, he'd lost half of his value. He made it back up to $30 again for a bit before rotating.
I don't think that paints a favorable portrait of Teferi.

Really? Sites I reviewed earlier in the week had him cheap. I know when I got him I was surprised at the price.

No. Just no. It's a 2-color planeswalker in a massively opened Standard set with a couple of other chase Mythics, including a 4CMC colorless planeswalker. If you can get him for less than $20, go ahead. In 2 months, he will be back down to $10-20, depending on his performance in standard.
Anyone know what spiked Settle the Wreckage and Gideon of the Trials? I'm assuming it's Standard UW Control, but not certain since I haven't followed Standard since Gatecrash.

I think its the UW Control, and UW Midrange (super strong looking deck actually I'm almost tempted to pick it up but its near $500 last I looked!) decks that use it yes. Saw it several times on stream yesterday.
Welp foil damping shere is now $17. Think I’m going to bite the bullet and get my 2. Card hasn’t proven to be too good but if it were to show as an all-star I’d rather be early than late.

IMO, it's still rather early to bite on foils. The prices of non-Dominaria foils are just beginning to deflate, so foils shouldn't be far behind as more enter the market. I'd also consider the fact that pack foils of Fatal Push are currently going for the same price. Helps put it in perspective, and like Push, Sphere seems ripe for an FNM promo.
Am I mistaken, or is 17$ for damping sphere about 3-4$ higher than last week
I was buying foils last Friday and almost pulled the trigger on Damping Spheres around $13-$14. I decided to wait for now, but they definitely went up a little from what I could have gotten then for on Friday.

You guys may have seen me say this before, but a play set of foils was preselling for $60 on Ebay right before the set dropped. I passed on it because I thought it would only go up about $10 each past this, so hard to sell for that much more. I regretted it after seeing 1,000 posts on facebook trying to sell at $35-40 each. I guess now the only thing to do is wait for them to go down because I actually DO want 1-2 foils now.
