The prices will drop a bit over the standard season, then stabilize. Wait a month or so, then buy.
Foils are a bit of an odd bird, and can be highly dependent on region (if not buying online). The thing is that very few people foil out Modern decks, and even less take the effort to foil out Standard decks, so there is not a huge true demand on them. There is a premium that people will always put on foils and even though the actual demand is not great the price will always be based on the price of the non-foil version. Cubers and eternal formats are the primary market for foil fetchlands, and many of them prefer old foils.
The long and the sort of it is that the best price for fetches (for quite a while) will probably be a month or two after the release amd the price will likely not change much until they rotate out. Since the foil prices will be based on the non-foil it is my guess that this will be a fine time to buy your shinys to feed your inner magpie.

...except you've posted this in the Modern forum. KOT has the first Modern-legal printing of the allied fetchlands. If you care at all about the aesthetics of your deck and you'd like it to look Modern legal, then KOT is the way to go.

Every time I see [ktkenshinx] post in here, I get the impression of a stern dad walking in on a bunch of kids trying to do something dumb and just shaking his head in disappointment.
Near Mint: The same as Slightly Played, but we threw some Altoids in the box we stored it in to cover up the scent of dead mice. Slightly Played: The base condition for all MTG cards. This card looks OK, but there’s one minor annoying ding in it that will always irritate and distract you whenever you draw it. Moderately Played: This card looks like it survived the Tet Offensive tucked inside the waistband of GI underwear. It may smell like it, too. Heavily Played: This card looks like the remains of Mohammed Atta’s passport after 9/11. It may be playable if you double-sleeve it to stop the chunks from falling out. The condition formerly known as "Washing Machine Grade" Damaged: This card is the unfortunate victim of a Mirrorweave/March of the Machines/Chaos Confetti/Mindslaver combo.
[M]aking counterfeit cards is the absolute height of dishonesty. Ask yourself this question: Since most people...are totally cool with the use of proxies...what purpose do [high] quality counterfeit cards serve?

See thoughtseize as a second example, or even remand. I rarely see a better art second printing on any card worth more than three dollhairs.

Value is good. But Dredgevine isn't supposed to be about value. It's supposed to be about V-8; 2000 pounds of nitro boosted war vegetables. The more velocity, the better.

New Remand is about as good as old Remand. And while the new Thoughtseize isn't amazing art... when people compare it unfavorably to the original, I wonder if they've actually looked at the original, which I can't see as honestly any better. I suppose it fits what the card is doing a bit better, but conversely I think the art (taken by itself) looks a lot more ugly. I'd also say that the new shocklands are (when you average them all out) about as good or maybe even slightly better than the originals.

Probably about 3 months after the release. If you buy too early, you'll pay a premium to compete with the people that need those cards right away. If you buy too late, you run the risk of them being hard to find. The best time to buy should be after the initial wave of buyers, but not so far into the future that they're running the risk of leaving print.

That doesn't make much sense, for several reasons. First, there's a new-new frame, so the argument of having a consistent frame doesn't hold up.
The Modern card frames have been around for eleven years. The new-new frame is four months old. You are technically correct, in the most literal of senses.
Secondly, if you're a Legacy player, you should be more than used to having to mix frames constantly.
You're right. I am used to having to mix frames. But as you point out, all of Legacy uses mixed frames. So this is really just par for the course on the Legacy scene. My claims were only that I prefer older frames, and that I try to play the first printing of any given card. It doesn't always work, but that's life.
Third... You like the old frame better, but you still prefer putting new frames in your deck? No matter how you frame that, it's kind of a self-contradiction.
I prefer to play Modern-framed cards for the Modern format. It just makes the deck look more uniform, and no one ever asks me if what I'm running is Modern-legal. I prefer to play this Merchant Scroll in Legacy High Tide because it matches the other cards in the deck, and I would probably use this Merchant Scroll to match a Modern-legal deck.

Ignore this rumor. Modern has not been stabilized for long enough and has not become quite important enough, so there is no way a new format is coming anytime in the next few years.

I generally agree that Wizards tries to make MASS reprint art worse than the original. Obviously, there are exceptions. I just wanted to point out that MM Maelstrom Pulse is the same art as the promo art. And I think Wizards tries to make promo art nicer than the original, which explains the MM Maelstrom Pulse exception.

IMO you really cant go wrong when buying these lands. They are going to increase in value in the long run and that is a 100% guarantee. Get them asap.
