Unstable was released literally two days ago...the prices will undoubtedly drop. Foil prices may vary depending on how common they are, but the non-foils won't get more expensive than they are during release weekend.
In regards to getting a steamflogger instead of a land, I haven't heard that claim, so not sure about that one. I opened three boosters for *****s n gigs and every pack had the same contents after your commons, uncommons, rare: Full art land, two contraptions, foil token (assuming this slot could also be a foil land).
The Steamflogger Boss is on the land sheet. People who open a Steamflogger Boss are opening it in the land slot and not opening a land. What I don't know is the probability of a land being 'replaced' with a Steamflogger Boss. But it is definitely, confirmed, nonzero.

There's now a great number of Unst able lands in stock. 483 of them. Now I have some hope that they will indeed go down. Seems to be a lot of supply.

On another question. Is it good to buy the Kaladesh masterpieces? I'm sort of tempted to buy the Masterpieces trinisphere. Are the prices of these cards likely to go up?
Masterpieces are definitely a great way to spend your money if looking for a long term increase in value.
These join the Reserve List and Judge foils as cards that can't or won't be reprinted. We have not hit the bottom on these yet, as 2/3rds are still in standard. Look for prices to go up very quickly at a moments notice. I'm noticing the hardcore financial guys in my area snatching them up left and right, myself included.
Ok thanks. Just wanted to make my Ponza deck look a little nicer, so might buy one. ^____^
Is there an official statement from WoTC that masterpieces would never be reprinted?
Unfortunately, funds are now very exhausted. Next extra cash that I will get is on beginning of January salary. Hopefully, the Trinisphere would still be in the 40-50 range at that time...
Yeah, the second print run on Unstable is real so it's pretty likely prices are going to drop on the lands. We'll have to wait and see how long it takes, though, as there's going to be a ton of demand on the lands as well.

I feel as Wizards made a mistake on the foil lands. They are way too hard to come by. I'm beginning the long slow process of foiling out all my commander decks, starting with foil full art lands. Problem is, I don't like any of the BFZ or HOU islands, which leaves me the Unhinged island or the Unstable island. I'm not going to pay $70 per island, and honestly, who is? Maybe for Modern, where you run 1 or 2 lands, but really, foil pimping is for commander, and I am hard pressed to see anyone paying that much for these.
People wouldn’t be selling them for that much if people weren’t willing to buy them for that much. They don’t earn the sellers any money at all if they’re priced too high to move.
It looks like others are more willing to throw money at pimping their decks than you are.
The price in UST lands seems to be fluctiating from 0.90-1.5 for non islands in mkm, looks like it's still going to take a while for the prices to settle.

Please do keep your salt away from financial threads, if the lands are priced that way it's because people are willing to pay that amount. I don't see how something commander related belongs in a modern thread.
Preach. *****ing about supply and demand is almost as pointless as "pimping out" a deck when you're reluctant to spend money. Regardless, there are reports coming in from players/stores who've been opening Unstable boxes where all 36 boosters contain the same foil basic land. Waiting on a live box opening video showing proof before I start claiming it as fact, but it's only been a few days since release, so I'd imagine one will be uploaded sooner than later. I doubt it'd enough to significantly impact the cost of full art foils in the short-term, but if true, it sure as hell will impact the amount of product opened/entering the market.
been really out of the format the past 6 months, why is dark confidant so high? he's $60 on face to face games. I'm moving mine since I don't use them and at this price, I'll move them for the forces I need

Wise decision. Bob is being played in some of the 5c Humans lists, so that along with the fact that he wasn't reprinted in MM17 or IMA has boosted his stock at the moment. Unless you need them, I'd definitely sell out of Bob prior to MM25 set spoilers. Bob, Thalia, Karn, & Hierarch are on my short list of cards that may show up in MM25. I sold my last few playsets of Thalia, Bob, & Karn a few days ago; I'll certainly curse myself if Karn is a no-show in MM25, but the Modern market has been sailing through a ****storm of reprints and the best course of action imo is liquidating all high-end staples that I either have extras of or don't plan to use in future decks.
I'm going to agree that selling out of bob and the like right now is the right move if you're after growing your library. At worst you'll just have to rebuy them later when they don't show up, but at that point you've already probably made about 60-80% of the value on selling them and are probably only paying a slight bump over the original market price. I've personally dived out of doing the sell high and buy low thing as it has proven to be a lot of work for not a lot of gain as a player. I did make some small profit off of stocking tons of commander bulk cards and selling them off a few times though. Thran Dynamo was a good example of a card I had multiple copies of that was going for 8+ before Iconic Masters reprinted it.

anybody think Iconic Masters prices have bottomed out? I posted a list of what I was looking for a couple pages back and when Iconic first released that list in TCG was around $750. I didn't buy. I just did at $490. With Un3 out are Iconic Masters packs being opened less?
I already pulled the trigger, I guess I'm just hoping it wasn't foolish to do so now instead of later.
There are still people drafting Iconic Masters, it's just that iconic masters was a complete disaster logistically and with all the confusion on the print run no one had any confidence in the set. Also the value in the set was much too concentrated in a few cards since many were priced the way they were due to scarcity. It's hard for people playing magic to see this, but in other TCGs it's way more obvious as cards that reach some of the prices I've seen are basically sold out. It's just that no seller wants to be sold out of a card since it draws traffic to their site and shop, hence why they will often keep one or two really expensive copies floating around.

If UN3 is so popular and Iconic Masters such an odd set without as much sell-through as it could have had, I'm going to say that today was probably a good day to buy. Unless copies start flooding the market because 1. people hoarded product, 2. people keep opening product or 3. things get printed again in the near future, then prices have probably bottomed.
The better strategy for buying cards is recognizing the cards that are powerful and get those cards before they take off in the first place. As Foretold was destined to spike from the very get go while cards like Anointed Procession are used heavily in EDH and just have a slow gain trajectory after the standard pressure passes. The Scarab God is just going to bomb like crazy once it leaves standard as it has basically no home at all in modern and probably never will unless control takes it.
Temporary price drops from masters sets are just a concession to try and get into a boat that has come onto the horizon, but has never landed at port and never will. They will get reprinted again later and with each printing the average price of the card will decrease due to the increased supply. Also Magic itself feels to be in a decline stage in other formats, so I'm not sure how this will hit modern. Modern sort of exists in a separate world since it doesn't thrive on the latest sealed product and lives in a self contained trading cycle.

Ok, thanks for reply. Would sell them I guess. Need more extra money for Christmas. And because I also fear that she might get reprinted in the next masters set.

I recently sold two playsets on eBay for $70 usd each. That's definitely a fair price if you're dealing locally and no fees are involved. I'd be stunned if she doesn't show up in MM25 or reprinted in some form during 2018.
Sorry for late reply. Sold the Thalias yesterday, as well as two Surgical Extractions. The holidays is surprisingly a good time to sell... people buy more easily. ^^
As for reprints... I'm really hoping the enemy fetches would be done one more time. Verdant Catacombs are still expensive - need a playset of them.
I'll also post this question in the relevant deck topic in terms of viability and gamplay. Thougfh feel free to comment on these aspects too.
I allready own the full Abzan manabase including manlands and all supporting spells and most sideboard pieces for an Abzan Midrange deck and I would love to play it in paper. The pieces missing are the usual suspects minus one Tarmogoyf and some black sideboards staples, i.e. Damnation.
I know Tarmogoyf is expensive, but actually very low at this point. Liliana of the Veil is the most expensive offcourse and Dark Confidant is rising due to it's inclusion in some humans lists (one of my other modern decks). My list would be with Grim Flayer however.
I have the option to buy in the rest for somwhere inbetween €400,- and €450,- (approx $500,- usd) from two different sellers.
The question here is: Would this be a wise investment in terms of financial stability or even growth and play/meta viability?
