Fluctuator already had its spike, but IMO the odds of anything new breaking out in Legacy/Vintage is pretty low, so you're really banking on something breaking EDH. (Also, not Modern-playable, obviously derp.)

Wow, wow, and wow. Those are all really good ideas for speculation. I also like the idea of of a standard deck with splendid reclamation and cycle lands. I think I'll pick some up because worst case scenario I have a jank standard deck to play.
Value is good. But Dredgevine isn't supposed to be about value. It's supposed to be about V-8; 2000 pounds of nitro boosted war vegetables. The more velocity, the better.

Totally agreed. I've always felt like if for some reason I wanted to play Standard, it would be some jank Retreat + Splendid Reclamation deck. Maybe actually semi-viable now?

Too late on Life From the Loam. No sellers have 4 copies left that are under $17 or so, and most sellers left want $3 in shipping, meaning it's been picked over.

Considering Loam was specifically cited in the Mothership article, I'm not surprised.
Ok I meant that combo would be more than good. What decks would play that combo? The cycle cost at 2 in modern seems rather high. Sure maybe control but I don't think there are too many green control decks and I feel like there are better options in the spot plan would use. But Hey, it's like a eight mana ancestral recall if you have three lands and loam!

I think that as far as fetches go, the best wizards may do from here is the old etb tapped fetches,
Hmm, would be a surprise seeing those again. Well, they just printed come into play tapped duals.. so why not come into play tapped fetches as well. Would probably be just the right power level for mana fixing in Standard.
But there is literally 0 chance of a fetch reprint in standard now for at least a couple years. At least it does make fetches a nice secure investment.
The khans fetches are climbing slowly but surely. Because of this... have made it a point to try and buy at least one khans fetch, literally each time I purchase anything from SCG. Got to get as many as I can now, while they are still somewhat affordable.
There's many ways they can go. Pay 1 mana, fetch 2 basic lands, put one into play, one into hand, or 1 or both into play tapped, untapped, etc.
The full ramifications are clear.
Modern as a format extends back the majority of MtG's lifetime. With the sudden popularity of Frontier, the pressure is on WotC to create a new 'eternal' format. Since they are adamant that they do not want any new format to have fetchlands, it pretty much sounds a death knell to fetchlands in standard from here on out, though someone told me that MaRo revealed the codename of the next set that will have fetchlands?
Fetchlands are the chokepoint for Modern, just as RL dual lands are for legacy. We do not have a problem as yet, but in future days, this chokepoint will be more and more restrictive to who can afford to pick up the game.
We're just lucky enough to have a release valve in the way of masters releases, unlike Legacy.
That said, if the price goes up on fetchlands to something akin to previous prices, I'd be on the lookout for them to be included in Eternal Masters as well.
Sorry, what pressure is Frontier applying? Last I checked, it's all but dead. F2F held FREE Frontier tournaments with good prize support on weekends and they rarely fired, so F2F cancelled them.

Because it's a terrible format that is a collection of everything that has made Standard awful for the past several years.
On a side note, MM3 Blood Moon foils are steadily at $40, with several listings around $35. I've now picked up another to complete my playset (1 MMA, 3 MM3). It feels stupid to have spent the money I did on my MMA copy, but oh well. The foiling process looks brighter and more vibrant on MMA anyway... At least that's what I'll keep telling myself.
This is a regression line I made for MM17 Scalding Tarn prices from March 17th to today: http://imgur.com/a/vXHec
The coefficient of determination (expressed as a percentage) is 95.6%! While it is by nature somewhat of an oversimplification, I think this is a healthy indicator that prices will continue to rise barring the introduction of other disruptive market factors.
Just bought 26 copies of The Gitrog Monster based largely on your speculation here. I guess we'll see if it pays off pretty soon Worst case scenario, I'm down $30.
Was this getting played at GP San Antonio in DSJ or something else?

AFAIK, that Youtube turd burglar from the Mana Source did a video on a budget Modern build the other day and it included the card along with another which as seen a recent spike, pain's reward. Additionally, some DSJ builds have been playing around with it and I'd suspect that's the main reason for the uptick in price.
Thoughts on likely price spike on Deprive as possible counterspell for a control deck? Tap, return, and cycle does not seem bad later in the game.
I'd say unlikely. If counterspell decks can even get to the late game they are already way ahead. This would be a situation of win-more strategy. Also control decks want as many lands in play as possible.
I am looking into buying into a foil playset of Ghost Quarters. Any possibility that it might be in Amonkhet? If not, could anyone kind of give me some insight as to why it is rising? Just about a week ago, it was about 16 dollars for a foil, now it is getting close to 20.

Ghost Quarter probably rises nearly at the same time as Life from the Loam, which seems to have spiked hard. I know it's played as a 4 of in UW Control, but that could hardly be the reason. It's pretty good vs. Bant Eldrazi, Eldrazi Tron, and other Tron.

In case you care about borders, the only existing foils have the old border which IMO (and in that of most players I know) looks a lot better shiny. I doubt those (INN/DIS) will drop below 20 now regardless of a reprint, so if you do have a preference I would make a move.
the card itself really isn't worth the card board its printed on...does it serve a purpose? Sure its a blue 1 drop that might not be a 1/1. I would not put it in a list and expect to win a PTQ or GP though.
Fatal Push keeps rising. With Modern masters being the Draft format pushed by stores (and why not? better profits) and Amonkhet release just a few weeks away, the incoming supply is dwindling.
This card could be a spectacle in coming years. IDK how popular Aether Revolt was in terms of sales, but it was the 2nd set of the block (meaning less packs in prerelease, and but 1 pack in drafts) and Standard was the worst in ~ a decade according to many.
All that shakes out to a strong possibility that Fatal Push becomes one of the 3 most valuable cards after rotation, along with Paradox Engine and Walking Ballista. And Paradox Engine may fall if it gets an EDH ban as expected.
Who would have thought we'd ever see an Uncommon do that in this day of massive print runs?
