Looking at Tarn now, it is completely gone. The others are within $2 of each other.
And that means prices will move up.
Fast. The window on fetches will be over, and a lot of people will be caught flat footed. I still need to get 3 more, none Tarn.
I smell a buyout brewing with attendant spike. My guess is we'll see movement Wednesday. Less than 225 listing for both issues of Tarn.
I'm interested in seeing which version becomes more popular. Personally, I prefer the hologram as counterfeit insurance.
Holy cow this did not take long. Look for Fetches to be in MM19 as well. They really need a Standard printing.
I don't see Goyf in MM19, but rather, an even heavier dose of needed money hits, like all the artifacts.
everyone just CALM DOWN and give it a few more weeks, the set just came out a little over a week ago.
if you really want the cards and have the money, sure go get what you need or whatever. its not that big a deal if you get them too soon.
but if you don't need anything, and are just looking to round out your modern collection, i still think you need to wait a little longer.

Depends, I agree with you on the hologram. It's been a deciding factor for a lot of my purchases since it came out. However, I haven't seen many people talk about it here, but there is definitely a difference in color with some of these cards in this set. The 2017 versions almost look washed out, faded.
Some cards that really stood out being:
Damnation, Abrupt Decay, Liliana of the Veil, and Tarmogoyf.
everyone just CALM DOWN and give it a few more weeks, the set just came out a little over a week ago.

Bad advice. We've never seen a reprint on cards as desired as these fetchlands. Oh wait. Yeah we did. Khans reprints of Onslaught fetches. Keep in mind, Onslaught fetches were never Modern legal until the Khans set released.
Price dropped from $94 to $55 almost immediately. Khans fetches started at about $20 - a $70 drop. And that is an unlimited printing. There is a reason Khans is the best selling mtg set of all time. Hint: It's not because of Anafenza.
Now we have a limited set reprint of cards that were in a similar position as far as scarcity, price and demand. If demand for Onslaught fetches drove Khans to the all time sales record, what will demand do to MM17 fetch prices? You could not run out of Khans packs, they'd just print more. And yet fetches never dropped below $13 for Delta.
I see an awful lot of people patiently waiting, thinking prices will drop. I liken the shock they are about to receive to the surprise of a person who puts a firehose nozzle to their mouth to get a drink. Stores sell fetches within hours of them being traded in.
Go to TCGplayer.com and look at the price gaps between, say, Blood Moon old and new, and Damnation old and new. Now look at the price gaps old and new on fetches. For Tarn, there is no price gap. Sellers want the same price for Scalding Tarn, be it MM17 or Zendikar.
If you can't read the sign that's right there in bold, and understand what it means, I can't help you. But I can say I tried to warn you. Is Economics really so hard to understand? Huge demand - the biggest MtG has ever seen. Limited printing. Connect the dots. When people ask for trades, the first thing they ask when they look through my MM17 binder, (I opened 16 boxes) 'Where's the fetchlands?'
'Not trading my fetches.'
Most of the pm's I received on facebook were requests for fetches, ignoring foil Goyf, foil Lili, foil Decay, Snaps, Guides, Moon, Cavern.
Nope.
It was all 'I need fetches. Which ones do you have?' as if I would gladly trade them all away. This in spite of the fact I explicitly stated in my posts I was trading exactly 0 fetches. Indeed, I was looking to trade for several.
I said the same thing about Fatal Push in January. I said this card will NOT go down. The demand is way to high, even with an unlimited printing. Drafts that have 1 pack per person will not drive the price down. I had countless people call me an idiot and advise waiting a couple weeks to a month. It's been 2 full months now, and the price has risen from the $4 release price to $5.35. In a week, Amonkhet spoilers start, and Aether Revolt drafts start waning. Prices on Fatal Push have risen significantly this week. Hope you didn't sleep on those. Me? I bought 10 before release.
You might be right about fetches. But I say we've never seen so basic a staple that is in such high demand reprinted only in a limited set. So carry on waiting. All the stars have aligned for your misery.
idk, i don't really see the appeal in zen fetches. affinity, tron, bant eldrazi and eldrazi tron, ad nauseam, and merfolk don't use them. other decks can get away with khans fetches like dredge, valakut decks, and maybe grixis control with mire and delta. obviously i still want them because future meta games change and new decks come around and what not. i'll probably get some marsh flats and call it a day.

We get it; you predicted something. Don't stroke that ego too much now, you might go blind.
I'd have to imagine WoTC anticipated this demand and I wouldn't be surprised if they still have some tricks up their sleeve. Once BFZ rotates out later this year, fetches would theoretically be fair game to re-print in a standard set again. Not to mention the fact that Eternal Masters set a precedent for "surprise second wave" product allocation, so that too is a very real possibility down the road. One could even argue that the change from a Summer MM release date to Spring a release gives WoTC the opportunity to promote the next standard block throughout Summer & Fall, while making a second MM17 supply run available during the Holidays in order to boost earnings and finish Q4 strong, appeasing shareholders and their Hasbro overlords. Then again, I could definitely be wrong. But if I'm correct, I'll be sure to keep it to myself rather than acting like a child and posting back here to brag about it.

I'm having some trouble understanding you; are you the one receiving the Goyf? If you need the card and already have play sets of those lands/spellskite, then I'd say it's a pretty fair trade as far as current market prices are concerned. Your fetches will creep up in value in the long-term, as will Goyf, so it sounds like a win-win situation.
The MM3 printing of fetches is pretty indicative that standard will not being seeing fetches for at least four or five years, perhaps never again.

I wouldn't say 4 or 5 years, but I am willing to bet we won't see them while Kaladesh is in Standard, since the Fastlands take the same spot as the Fetchlands for balance purposes in Standard (to be brief, WOTC wants there to be a "Slow" cycle [Can't produce colored mana on turn 1] and a "Fast" cycle [Can produce colored mana on turn 1] for each color pair).
If rotation continues to be the same, that would mean Fall 2018 when the Kaladesh Fastlands rotate, or Fall 2020 when their replacements rotate. Any later would put stress on Modern's growth as a format. Since Wizards is a business, sooner is better than latter, considering how many boxes of KTK they sold. There's also the consideration of Shocklands, that will also need to be reprinted at some point in the future to ensure the continue growth of Magic's player base, and they simply can't be in the same Standard as Fetchlands.
We aren't going to see fetches in standard ever again. They completely kill any potential future non-rotating format that wizards may have in mind. It is why they put them in this set that was going to fly off the shelves anyway instead of printing free money by putting fetches in a standard set.
Anyway, I saw a few pages back some price and stock history on the new fetches and I was curious where people found that info? I'm opening a box tonight and plan on getting the fetches I don't pull but I wanted to look at some price/volume history before jumping on it.
So FYI, there are some rumblings of a run on Living End with the first round of Amonkhet spoilers. It's an old-ish-for-Modern Rare that's a lynchpin card in a semi-competitive Modern deck, and now that Cycling is confirmed as a set mechanic, it could easily gain a bunch of new toys to play with.
If anyone was thinking about buying into the deck, you may have a shortened window for it.

I could see Wizards reprinting Shock Lands in a Standard set. It is going to be a long time, if ever, before we see Fetches in standard again though. Fetch lands created a major problem for format accessibility last time, and I'm inclined to think that Wizards has learned from its mistake.
I could see Zen fetches in the fall set, as BFZ rotates. The only lands it would fetch are basics, so it would be fine, and would re-energize the Standard format, and game in general at a time it desperately needs it.
Fetches were not a problem until they created a new set of named lands that the fetches could target.
Printing the fetches asap also allows them to set a line for a new, fetch free format.

I think that line was set with origins and that is why the fetches were here instead of standard. I mean people have long complained that there wasn't a good starting point to modern and that they just chose a random card formatting change to drive the format. Add in the fact the printed the other fetches the block before that along with the broken delve mechanic makes it seem a lot like they have already been thinking this out.
Anyway, again, what are the best places people go to see card volume vs price? Trying to see anything through TCG is a joke and just following prices doesn't tell the whole story.
I actually agree with you, but it's pretty clear these fetches need a standard printing to drive the prices down. When playing Modern, it begins and ends with the fetchlands. If you do not have them, you are severely limited in which decks you can be competitive with. If they do not get reprinted into the ground ala khans fetches, Modern will suffer the same problem Legacy does: a manabase out of reach of most collectors. a masters reprint every 2 years is not enough. That said, they could be in EMA18.

I'm buying Jund pieces, and wondering in what order you think I should prioritize these cards over the next month or so.

It seems like cycling is back in Amonkhet. If Wizards decided to put the cyclinglands into the set, what do you think this would do with the price of Life from the Loam? Would these lands be good enough in Modern to move Loam's price?
