Part of the reason Karn Liberated has spiked is because of legacy and vintage. Removing someone's black lotus, their best card, and restarting with it is backbreaking. There's also commander. There's a copy trick where you make a clone of him, exile real with clones effect, restart with him in play, and as well cards used to clone him, making a true iron wall.
Also, greenwheel liberator is on the rise, in part due to modern dredge and heavy use of rest in peace, which also blows out goyf. many pro players have been switching to greenwheel liberator as a result.

There are a number of reasons Karn went up, but I can't believe the biggest reason isn't Modern and GW or BG Tron. The fact that he wasn't reprinted and the fact that Tron has a good presence suggests that there were people waiting to pick him up until after MM was fully spoiled.
Also, I don't think your "trick" actually works. The only card that directly clones Karn is Clever Impersonator and you can't clone your own Karn without putting one into your graveyard due to the Planeswalker Rule before you can activate either ones ability. So, you would need your opponent to have Karn and you to have Impersonator to do what you want and even then it doesn't do a whole lot (besides get rid of their Karn of course). I doubt any sort of "trick" is relevant in the price increase.

I don't see why it wouldn't. In the same way the Summer Bloom deck used to cast their bouncelands, (untapped with Amulet of Vigor), and then, with the bounce on the stack, tap it for 2 mana before the bounce resolves, you create a copy of Karn, and then use his ability in response to the legendary rule. Also much like sacrificing Fulminator Mage in response to lethal damage or removal to destroy a land.
That's how I see it. Feel free to correct me if I am wrong.
Part of the reason Karn Liberated has spiked is because of legacy and vintage. Removing someone's black lotus, their best card, and restarting with it is backbreaking.
There's some misinformation here. First, Karn sees basically no play in Vintage. Second, that's not a backbreaking play because any player who did not momentarily turn into an idiot would sacrifice their Black Lotus in response, and that's not getting into the unlikelihood that they'd have it in play for so long that an opponent's Karn Liberated could snatch it to begin with.
Karn sees a bit more play in Legacy but still isn't very common, usually just a 1- or 2-of in Cloudpost or MUD lists and even most of those lists don't play him.
There's also commander. There's a copy trick where you make a clone of him, exile real with clones effect, restart with him in play, and as well cards used to clone him, making a true iron wall.
This isn't possible either. The only card that can clone Karn to my knowledge is Clever Impersonator but that card, like any other card that could copy him, is something you can't -3 to take out because you have to sacrifice one of them before you are able to use that effect. It is true that you can +4 yourself to put a Karn under Karn and restart with him, though, but people have been able to do that since he was printed so I don't see any reason it would suddenly spike as a result of that.
[If someone wants a textbook case of how a designer can make a card that seems harmless and then later on punches way above where it should, Tarmogoyf is that card. It's really not required to make a good Jund build since there's now options like Grim Flayer that can fill the spot as well as Greenwheel Liberator, but Tarmo is still the top card thanks to the extra point of toughness and how easy it is to make it grow.
...are you new to Modern?
Greenwheel Liberator to replace Tarmogoyf, that's the funniest ***** I've read all week.
Lets not start unintentionally insulting people again. We know where that is going to go and honestly, the narrow minded nature of your post is troubling.
Do you see my post count? Do you see the signature with two modern decks listed? You know what I actually do in modern? I deck brew. And I'm going to cut myself off before I go on a mega rant.
Not insulting you at all, it was legitimately the funniest thing I've read here in ages. Replacing the biggest beater in Modern with draft chaff, that cracked me up.
If it was a serious comment though, I do have to wonder if you're new to Modern. That's all.
Anyone care to take any bets on whether we'll see any useful reprints in the new Duek Deck? Apparently WoTC hiked up MSRP by $5, so read into that how you will. I thought the "headline" cards were odd choices, but there could be a rhyme to the reason. From a mechanic/flavor standpoint, it wouldn't be surprising to see reprints of Mishra's Bauble and/or Ancestral Vision. I'm expecting just another "meh" product, but it doesn't hurt to dream.

the card itself really isn't worth the card board its printed on...does it serve a purpose? Sure its a blue 1 drop that might not be a 1/1. I would not put it in a list and expect to win a PTQ or GP though.

Ancestral Vision would be nice, though that card alone is worth more than twice the Duel Deck MSRP.
Personally, I believe it's Snow-Covered Lands (specifically Mountains): Lovisa Coldeyes is from Coldsnap and Skred Red won a GP last year. Since they have no plans on returning to the Snow mechanic, and Skred Red decks need 20 or so Snow-Covered Mountains, a Duel Deck would be a great place to increase the supply.

I thought this as well. AV and MB are nice to wish for but they won't be in there. I could see Scrying Sheets pop up as a 1 of in the Lovisa deck. Guess we will see soon.

Why is anyone speccing on Bob? Right now on mtgo Jund is dipping closer to 3% (Which isn't low in general, but that's crazy low for Jund), Junk doesn't really play Bob, and Shadow is a different Jund deck. I have my foil judge promos which I love, but I wouldn't advise anyone to spec into him.

It's not just bob, anything not printed in MM2017 is getting turned into a spec. Right now MM2015 has a better EV compared to box price than MM2017, though we'll have to see how long that lasts.

Also just a follow up, should one snag bauble's now? They're insanely inflated for an uncommon.
I got no clue what is going to happen with Mishra's Bauble. That card is inflated to the heavens, but the only reason it is like that is due to it being so hilariously under printed thanks to the short run of Cold Snap. If they find a place to reprint that anywhere, even a dual deck or something, it's going to crash pretty hard. Just look at the Zendikar Fetches: Before they were confirmed Scalding tarn was near 100 usd a piece, but now that a reprint is confirmed in a modern masters set the price basically got cut in half. If they reprint bauble it's going to be an uncommon at best and the price will plummet to the ground, so I kind of recommend caution picking up cards from the Recession period in this day and age of reprints unless you need it right away.

No, I'm gonna laugh out loud to everyone in this thread when people suggest boltable limited picks to replace Modern's top beater, because that's just hilarious.
Is it best to sell 4 Mishra's Bauble at $160 on eBay? Individually they are around $40. I have seen some of the sold cards going on eBay for around $130. I don't know if I should do it at $150 or less.

Don't know if you caught it, but I gave a reply a couple pages back. My opinion is to sell them as a whole. The price is usually close enough (or sometimes net higher cue to shipping) and is much less stressful or risky when compared to shipping and tracking multiple items to multiple buyers. But if that's not an issue, you could also list the item in a single listing with multiples available. Sometimes people buy more than one, sometimes not. You may be able to get more per card this way, but it's more work and more shipping costs.
Is it better to sell cards that are around $40 as a playset or as singles? What are the advantages of selling cards as singles compared to selling in multiples? What about multiples vs as singles?
Thanks
Depends on how you are selling. I sell through eBay and the cheapest tracked package you can mail is a USPS First Class Package for about $2.60 (3-4oz). I generally ship all orders under $20 in a regular envelope with stamp and anything 20+ as FCP with tracking. So if I'm selling a playset of $40 cards and I have to ship them individually, it will cost me $2.60/ea to sell (or $10.40 total), assuming four different buyers. When selling as a playset, prices are generally slightly cheaper than as individual cards. So if it goes for $40/ea, a playset may list for $155 or something (depends on the card, can always check cheapest Buy It Now prices to compare). So while you are hypothetically getting "less" money per card ($38.75 vs $40), you're also only paying that $2.60 shipping cost once.
TL:DR
Sell 4 individually with tracking: $40+$40+$40+$40-$2.60-$2.60-$2.60-$2.60 = $149.60
Sell as one chunk for cheaper price: $155-$2.60 = $152.40
But also, you don't have to worry about multiple buyers, multiple shipments, and a higher risk of issues with a single package.

if you are not actively using them, they are a hot potato right now. if the card is worth it to you in playing and you don't mind losing money then keep them, but if you are not playing DSJ, sell them and walk away laughing. it is going to be reprinted at some point, it may take some time, it maybe MM4, it may go up to $60 a pop, but on the flip side if it is in the next Commander set, it will nosedive so hard it will leave a crater. I unloaded my playset at $30 each and never looked back, you do not want to be left holding them come even the smallest reprint. the card is such short supply, even a masterpiece would make it drop

Again, the question is "am I playing this right now?" and "do I see wizards reprinting Mishra's Bauble in the next two or three years?". I think the answer is yes to the later, and while it may sound like a long time, that time can fly by faster than you think.

They don't even need to reprint the damn thing.
If they print a 0cmc artifact that sacs itself and gives some small advantage + maybe draws a card, it is replaceable. It's currently the only 0cmc artifact in modern that sacs itself for free, I believe.
Of course, if they print another one, it's possible that DSJ just starts running all 8 but I'm not sure how viable that would be.
