the card itself really isn't worth the card board its printed on...does it serve a purpose? Sure its a blue 1 drop that might not be a 1/1. I would not put it in a list and expect to win a PTQ or GP though.
How many Eidolons would you recommend buying at 7.50 USD?
3,000,000,000,000
Probably hyperbole, but possibly an understatement and going by the "comma represents decimals" system.
Honestly though, that's a decent pickup. People are buying Eidolon of the Great Revel for ~$9-$10.50 at the moment, and I imagine the price is going to trend upwards once people 1) start opening Guide and Arid and 2) once the people who are holding out for an (impossible, mind you) Modern Masters 2017 Eidolon reprint realize it's not in the set.

Maybe death's shadow and basilisk collar are both flukes, but I found it very strange that they both spiked a month or less before they were spoiled. I realize there is absolutely no way that wizards could have anticipated those spikes, or that they would have been able adjust printing to fit the cards in the set. I just find it very strange that it happened.
Honestly, it seems like a pure coincidence. They both spiked due to recent tourney performance. Looking back at tournament results from 2015 onward, Death's Shadow decks were putting up results during the time that the set was in development. Basilisk collar seems flukey at first glance, but when you consider the amount of EDH play it sees, the inclusion makes sense; Zur the enchanter is a solid indicator that WoTC is using the set to target EDH reprints as well. Just sucks for anybody who bought into Eldrazi Tron within the last week or so.
I sold a bunch of staples before all this. I did lose out on some cards, but it's not bad overall.
I'm not going be shocked if Goyf gets another reprint, what other mythic green card could they be saving for near the end of spoilers? Even if Goyf is absent, they've completely outdone themselves.
I was going to be buy Zendikar foil Verdant Catacombs, but I feel it would be foolish to do that now, although I wonder if the foils will mainly stay the same.

Assuming the last green mythic isn't a clunker, the only non-goyf card that I can think of is a rarity-shifted Hierarch.
Guys, I need some advice, fully understanding that none of you have a crystal ball here or anything. Here's the situation: I have full sets of non-foil Zen fetches and am considering dumping them now (with the intention to re-buy full playsets again in the next month or two). If you were me, how much $$$ would you be looking to get for each playset, taking into account unknown MM17 print run, OG printing premium vs. new print holo stamp, etc.? Not having them for a couple of months or whatever isn't a factor for me at all.
I was offered (USD):
$112 for Mesas
$79 for Flats
$105 for Mistys
$157 for Tarns
$142 for Catacombs
If I go with store credit instead of cash, I can add another 15% to the above. Which, if any, do you unload at these prices? I appreciate any advice as I'm not very savvy when it comes to MTG finance! Thanks a lot!

If losing them for a few months doesn't hurt I would probably take it. I imagine you will be able to buy the new prints for about 10% less than you would be selling for. I have a set of flats and a single catacombs and I use them so it isn't really worth it for me personally but I see little reason you wouldn't be able to make a little something.
I agree. It seems like a solid sell; worth it! You can most definitely get them cheaper later on if you don't mind which edition. That's a given. Everyone I know and their mama are buying boxes. I'm thinking about buying 2 boxes too and I haven't bought a box since Tempest.
I had a buyer back out on buying my foil Mishra's Bauble at $50, but I'm not mad at him anymore. He told me that he bought 2 at $40 and $36 just 4 days ago from today.

Just saying, when this was in development, Death's Shadow and Zur were both in tier 2 decks having tournament performance in the SCG circuit. I don't think it's much coincidence. It's just a relapse of perfect timing.
On a note that isn't too Modern Masters related, any thoughts on getting a batterskull and some of the swords? I plan on getting foils on them, and I am looking at Feast and Famine plus fire and war.

I agree. Probably could've worded that better; the coincidence I was referring to was the time between when DS & Collar spiked and when their MM17 prints were spoiled. However, I never knew Zur saw competitive modern play; that's pretty interesting.
On a note that isn't too Modern Masters related, any thoughts on getting a batterskull and some of the swords? I plan on getting foils on them, and I am looking at Feast and Famine plus fire and war.
I haven't really looked into the swords much, but I think Batterskulls are pretty solid pickups. I've been going after the GP foils since they're currently cheaper than non-foil copies; I'm sure that probably has something to do with the art, but I prefer the GP art anyway. However, I also thought the same about the FNM Serum Visions when I was picking them up for like $8/each...didn't work out as well as I had hoped.
Hmmm, I'm gambling that Scapeshift is the mythic green then, I feel like WOTC already knew what the EV prices would be with all this spoiled
Hrm... I'd be surprised if Scapeshift was bumped up to mythic. It isn't an extremely expensive card (yes, it's something like $40 but we're not talking $50+ as was the case for cards that were clearly made mythic due to their cost like Tarmogoyf or Dark Confidant), it isn't super powerful in Limited (seems downright awful in fact), and there isn't really much of "wow" factor to it. Sure, someone can point out Snapcaster Mage got bumped up to mythic and it costs about as much as Scapeshift (which I was actually really surprised to discover when I looked up their prices), but I think there was more disparity in their pricing in the past, which was when they were putting the set together.
But hey, Wizards of the Coast will do what Wizards of the Coast will do. Who knows.
Both. I haven't bought a box since Tempest, but I am going to check the boxes at a local game store to see if they're still $189.

Oh lawdy. Blood Moon at rare is fantastic. I was able to pre-order w/ my LGS for $185 pre-spoilers and now they're about $220. I've been thinking about ordering another, but decided to wait and feel out how the market reacts to the supply. I mean, I can't think of another reason why boxes should still be available for below MSRP except that the print run is substantial. I'd totally cave and throw another $185 at Hasbro if I could get one for that.

Ah, you know what, Scapeshift seems very likely, thinking about it
I don't think Azusa will be it, Thrun has lost a lot of playability, and they may feel this set is worth a lot even without Tarmo
I think Scapeshift is a super likely candidate, was the card even printed that much?
I'm pretty sure its only printing was in Morningtide.
Link to Discord server where anybody from MTGS can keep up with thread topics while everything is being sorted out with the new site.
Its only printing was in Morningtide, a small set from a block that I don't think was that popular. So it probably wasn't printed all that much.
Batterskull is conflicting also as I like both arts but am not too sure which to pick up. What do you think is a better investment?
