Hey there guys, welcome to the GP Minneapolis Thread. This thread is to be MTGSal's Official Modern Discussion Thread. Feel free to share what you see, your reactions, and you're predictions. Pod and Twin will definitely have a big showing as always, however I how something else will be top 8. Pod is boring for me to watch or play against. That's my opinion tho.
If Any zoo is going to do well its small zoo because people are un siding for it finally, and it can race things like tarmotwin. Or one big zoo in the hands of kibler. Zoo is fine in the meta, it just needs more control and tempo to prey on.
It'll be likely Twin that takes it, RUG or URW. Pod and Affinity will cover the Top 8, I'd be surprised if there were many Jund floating around as the deck is pretty mediocre currently having largely lost it's 50/50 average along with the banning of DRS - but the Tron and UWR have been dwindling in numbers recently so it might perform alright if people decide to run it. After all, Jund's still got answers verses Twin, Pod and Affinity (although they're all currently very uphill MUs for it), I'm not counting it out though. GB Rock has been performing pretty decently in Daileys recently also. It's going to be an interesting event to watch, for me.
Twin is an uphill matchup for Jund? I thought Jund was good against Twin.
Ideal outlook: Boros takes something.
Concessions to reality: It'd be a Boros Twin deck, though. I hope I'm wrong on this though.
Cynical outlook: it's going to be another Top 8 full of Big 3 (RUGTwin/M-Pod/Affinibots) and we'll be back in the banlist thread clamoring over who needs to be hit with the banhammer this time.
Have been playing at a local shop. The decks that I know will be there are UWR Control, UW Control (this guy started on UWR and might return to it), Melira Pod, Affinity, and Living End. I'm rooting for the Living End player. (cough cough)

The big three will of course be well represented. My prediction is that we will also see a Hatebears and/or Living End list sneak into the top 8.
I'd love to see Blue Moon place well again too, but I don't see it catching as many people by surprise again this time, and not enough players will be sleeving it up.

The meta is not right for it, needs more decks that lose to t3 moon. *coughjundcoughtroncough*
I hope we see some awesome new decks or brews make top 16. I wanna see someone's jank looking list and have it just smash whatever everyone else is prepared for.

GR Tron is actually pretty good against Blue Moon.

Edit: my mistake.
PS. Zoo will take it all!
I'm bringing Affinity.
[EDH Non-Primers] Newzuri | Breya
Any predictions for which version of Zoo?
Storm Crow is strictly worse than Seacoast Drake.
The one that plays Viscera Seer, Kitchen Finks, Murderous Redcap and Melira, Sylvok Outcast.
I predict an ocean of Melira, amidst a sea of Twin with a great lake of Affinity on the side. And a river of BGx Rock.
Rooting for merfolk to win it, deck has been around the mark for a while. Or 'shift
[EDH Non-Primers] Newzuri | Breya
[EDH Non-Primers] Newzuri | Breya
I also have a weird feeling that merfolk could do very well for some reason.
After playing against two VERY strong merfolk decks at the GP qualifier I won for this GP I'm confident a merfolk list could top 8.
Do not want: Bogles in T8.
I'd love to see Blue Moon place well again too, but I don't see it catching as many people by surprise again this time, and not enough players will be sleeving it up.

I could see hatebears top 8'ing though.
WBB/W TokensWB

That actually doesn't seem like a bad choice, especially against the "big three".
WBB/W TokensWB

WG Captain Sisay's LegendsWG
Quite possibly.
Does Melira Pod really count as a combo deck? It barely ever wins with the combo.
Can I see the decklist? I think that I might be brewing something similar.
For victory!
Storm Crow is strictly worse than Seacoast Drake.
