My best experience with the deck was I played turn 2 meddling mage named something game 1 round 1. He was so shocked that I knew his deck after he had played a since land and a 1 drop spell. I forget what he was playing. Then I countered a spell with sage's dousing. And he reads the card a few times before going on a short rant summed up was pretty much "what the___ is this." Anyways the judge who was walking buy goes "well this is what happens at small local tournaments you get people playing strange cards." He just looked at the judge and said "he just cryptic commanded me, for three mana." The look of bewilderment was amazing, especially after I cryptic commanded next turn then snap caster mage and flashed back sage's dousing the turn after. I killed him with my 2 drops!
I also ran commandeer in the side. Oh how tron hated me. I had one game against a tron player where I won game 1 then on game 2 he is on the play. He plays turn 2 spell skit. I play turn 2 isochron scepter and put silence on it. Turn 3 he tries to ancient grudge my scepter but does not have the right mana to flash it back that turn (He had 2 tron lands and grove) so I commandeered it killed spellskite. Then I spell snared the ancient grudge when he tried to flash it back. (I had silenced him) then I dropped meddling mage and named ancient grudge he scooped.
It was a really fun deck but crumbled to jund, and agro super hard. I may revisit the deck now that people have stopped playing jund but I don't think it stands a chance verse zoo. Combo was pretty easy due to meddling mage though
the only weird deck that i made by myself and that i still play is called sigil of esperzoa the deck was and artifact base deck but modern didnt existed back then if im not mistaken so i had no idea affinity existed but i made some modification through all my years of playing and heres my idea esperzoa + sigil of distinction and back than i only had ornithopter i added some memnite and some other good artifacts cards i think you get the idea, its a pretty fun deck and trust me it wont take long before your opponent remember esperzoa
edit: i really like this trade i want more weird idea

I built a Pyromancer Ascension deck that used Perilous Research+Hatching Plans to draw a ton of cards, and Muddle the Mixture to tie it all together. About half the deck was 2cmc cards. I gave it up as soon as I played someone with Spell Snares.
i really like the idea of perilous ressearch + hatching plans, but where are you going with pyromancer ascension i just dont get it, what is your finish him? sorry if my english is bad

copied Lightning Bolts, chaining Manamorphoses and cantrips, and finishing with a grapeshot in the 12-13ish range. Combined with the bolts, that's usually enough. It was basically a much more controlling version of storm.

Go to my blog, Musings of the False God, for in-depth guides playing the game, from the building blocks of deck design to deceiving your opponent through clever game play!
You may also know me as the guy in the art of Dark Confidant. No, not Bob Maher, the OTHER one.
I run a Mono-Red Stompy deck. It was bizarre. It was sometimes explosively the best deck ever. Sometimes it durdled for turns on end and I died. It was hilarious. I miss it.
Nothing like playing a deck focused on a 2 card combo that gets you a creature that's slightly bigger than goyf :p.
LOL, to be fair one creature is smaller than goyf, but unblockable, and one creature much bigger with evasion. Yea, though, it is never going to win a PTQ, that's for sure.
I built a deck around Maralen of the Mornsong. The goal was to get the enemy hellbent and then resolve Mindlock Orb while you have more life than them. Yea it was pretty awful but when it worked it was hilarious. There's nothing quite like the look on your opponent's face when they realise they have 5 turns to do nothing but bleed.

Yea it was basically UB discard with those two cards added plus some direct damage, like bump in the night, to keep you above the other person's life total. If you had a good starting hand you stood a good shot at winning but if you didn't have a super lucky hand you were pretty useless. I just really got a kick out of stopping the game dead with Marlen and Mindlock Orb. Talk about a lockdown deck lol.
Mine's pretty tame. It's a BW tokens deck that splashes blue so I can play cantrips and eventually find a polymorph. Then, one of my tokens magically transforms into one of the two creature cards in the deck: progenitus or emrakul, the aeons torn.

I've been thinking of building a deck like this. Though I was going to go GR for Chancellor of the Tangle. I was going to run Koth as another good thing to drop on turn 1. Have you thought about adding in Gemstone Caverns for another early mana accelerator?
I tried a combo deck based around Puresteel Paladin and all 6 free equipment cards as a draw engine, with [card]Cranial Plating[card] as the win condition. Either I went off and drew most of the deck with multiple puresteels, or they killed the first one and I couldn't do anything.

No, that would be worth testing I suppose. It's kind of funny to have a deck that's a glass cannon control deck though haha.

I won a (very small) tourney at my local shop with my no-rares Modern deck. Not sure how weird it is, but it certainly evoked the rage from one guy.
Game 1: killed him with Chandra's Spitfire + Raid Bombardment and 2 goblins
This caused a lot of anger and muttering as he sideboarded.
Game 2: Turn one Quest for Pure Flame followed by turn two Shrine of Burning Rage
He stood up, gathered his stuff and left without saying a word. Supposedly he spazzed out yelling and quivering in the parking lot. He hasn't been back.

This was a project of mine from a while ago. I still keep it around on Cockatrice for those games that people host requesting creative decks. In case it isn't obvious initially, the idea here is to cast Puresight Merrow, cast and equip a Paradise Mantle, and then you get a combo where you can basically exile stuff from the top of your library until you get what you want. Then, if you don't already have it, get a Laboratory Maniac, exile your deck, draw a card and win.
I made a RW deck awhile ago for modern. It worked pretty well, in testing I went 23-5. My main goal was to beat zoo since it was super heavy in my meta.
I think the weirdest deck I played in Modern was a version of Cheerios that involved the Curio. Was fun. Didn't do too well in the end, but it was hilarious to see people cry when a quest for the holy relic hit the board a turn after I drop a curio to win with a pair of memnites.

Curio doesn't work with artifact creatures.
True, but it was Squadron Hawks that set it all off. It was a modified Quest deck that used stuff:
I also main boarded meddling mage and ran isochron scepter and [card]vedalken shackles[/card.
