I think that's part of it. Part is certainly how quickly green ramps already. If you could ESG on turn two and throw out heritage druid and another elf, along with probably a turn one mana dork, elves become very fast. Bloom titan might get faster too, although that deck doesn't have a lot of wiggle room for change.

I would prefer Putrid Imp being reprinted and then they continue on with new cards; Madness is mostly a R/B mechanic in the modern color pie, and honestly I would love for Rakdos to have it next time we go to Ravnica.

Oath of the Gatewatch; the set that caused the competitive community to freak out over Basic Lands.
I don't want the card itself because it is too narrow, but I would like to see False Cure incorporated into a modal spell like a Charm or Command. It would be sweet to drain Affinity for ~10 when they attack with a plated Vault Skirge.

If it works how I think it does it would force burn back into black and break it.

Yeah as sad as it is to see a Black card ending up this way. Only Burn would be really interested in this effect and I don't want to see them even having the possibility of including it even if BB is a real drawback.
Do you guys think Standstill would be too powerful?
I think it would be what creates a Modern control deck; play it, and it forces the opponent to either sit there or let you draw 3 cards. But if you don't play around it, you just payed 2 mana for an opponent to Ancestral Recall.

Also, ESG doesn't fit green's color pie. It's not traditional ramp, it's more of a Ritual effect. That's why it got reprinted in red as SSG.

The reason why it got "reprinted" in red was, that it happened in Time Spiral, where they **** on the colour pile (look at stuff like Mana Tithe). ESG is one use only ramp, it is Ritual like but it fits G the most.

It's true a lot of the set was goofing around with the color pie, but some of it was taking old cards and reprinting them in the proper color (Prodigal Sorcerer being switched to Prodigal Pyromancer, for example). The Spirit Guide effect is not a green thing, throwing away cards for speed is a red thing.

Cabal Pit and the cycling lands are ones that keep coming up for me as things that wouldn't be broken and aren't outrageously expensive. Plus Cabal Pit has some of the best art in the game.

Reckles Spite and Innocent Blood seem like they should be okay. I don't like the idea of Toxic Deluge because of the ability to customized it's sweeping level easily at a low cmc (even with the damage as a cost) allowing you to spare your own bigger creatures while taking out all opponent smaller creatures in a shockingly cheap way. There is a reason most selective sweepers like that are 5+ cmc in Modern, like Austere Command, Consume the Meek and such. The customizability of toxic deluge potentially makes it _more_ powerful than those in many situations, and I don't think the life you pay is enough to justify that. Especially now that we have Tasigur, the Golden Fang running around.
I can understand your concern but I think that Toxic Deluge is a fair card for control to have due to the continued power creep that creatures have had in the last few years. Plus Toxic Deluge hates getting countered.

On mtgsalvation people don't want to discuss ideas, so I give people something else to discuss: my controversial opinions.
I can't remember if I have said this before or not but I really want a reprint of Daretti, Scrap Savant in a modern set. It doesn't power up any existing tier 1 decks and would probably help create a grindy/controlling artifact deck.

Oh and also Snuff Out. I want an alternate to Slaughter Pact that really is free.
But keep the Liliana art.
I highly doubt we will ever see Snuff Out in Modern. Wizards is very careful with printing free spells and Snuff Out is a bit over the top. Besides, between Slaughter Pact, Murderous Cut, and Dismember black has enough cheap removal already.
Unfortunately every try hard from Sacramento to Shanghai preaches from the top of their 27 lands + Mana Reflection that Tooth and Nail and Time Stretch are fine to play in the same turn but Armageddon is unfair.
