viperesque has posted on the deck contents. Has anyone tried playing against the Hydra using a Modern deck? If so, which deck did you use and how many heads did the Hydra start with?
If the Hydra deck proves too weak against Modern decks, maybe we as a community can create our own Modern Hydra deck that can challenge Modern decks! Print it, bring it to an LGS to play while waiting for Modern FNM to start or just play between rounds when you win/lose playing Affinity/Goryo's/Infect in 10 minutes and have 40 minutes to burn. Beats goldfishing alone.

Modern:
Bant | U Tron | GW Hatebears | Death and Taxes | Scapeshift | UW Tron | UW Midrange
1st turn Mana dork. 2 turns later, Mirrorweave everything to a mana dork. GG. That is if I got the Hydra game rules correctly.
EDIT: Man... that was too easy.
The Hydra deck isn't meant to be a challenge to be specifically designed for to be broken. Quieten down your inner Spike to break formats. Just like how it is for Standard players facing the Hydra, you are meant to just field your regular Standard deck that you would regularly play. If your Modern deck has Mirrorweave maindeck... I would love to see your results with that deck and a deck list.
Just like in the scenario I painted above, this is something to be done between rounds at Modern FNMs or when you're waiting for FNM to start. Not a chance to show off how quickly you can kill the Hydra with a custom designed deck. You are potentially piloting the Hydra deck against yourself, so not only do you not get brownie points, you don't have fun either.

Lmao~ Yeah, you're right. It's no fun if i just plop a deck for Hydra instead of the FNM, but still, I'm just saying... If the Hydra was Superman, then Mirrorweave is it's Kryptonite. Besides, the guys on the thread you linked are all missing the point you just said here and are all gung-ho about building a deck to beat it too. lol

Show me a mainstream Modern deck that has Mirrorweave and you'll be saying something. Otherwise... you're saying nothing.
EDIT: But, legit hoser cards in mainstream maindecks against the Hydra is a concern. My biggest concern is how the Hydra wins against infinite damage combos like Splinter Twin and Pod. The Modern Hydra needs some powerful spells to stand a chance against those decks. It can be a fun exercise, or it can be an exercise in frustration if the Hydra is too powerful. It is a thin line. Seems like a fun design challenge to have!

I consider Hydra's "color" to be colorless.
