Master of Riposte - 1W
Creature - Human Knight
Flash
When ~ enters the battlefield, choose a color. You and all permanents you control have protection from that color until the end of turn
2/2
I like this, but the name should be different. The riposte is the counterattack, not the parry.
To play devils advocate, swerve sees 0 play. And most of the 'warping' effects seem pretty minor. For example, preventing a single +1/+1 counter when ravager sacs a drum and adding 1 onto the cost of cranial plating's equip hardly are pretty minor perks. Even stopping resto-angels blink doesn't seem that bad: It is still card disadvantage since you haven't done anything about the 3/4 flier... None of those are independently worth a card, they just make the effect a little more maindeckable.
But yes, one could explore exactly which effects are important and which are not in terms of it being balanced. Of the 3 (spells, triggers, abilities) which are most necessary? Or maybe print them in sequence until you get the power right (first just spells, then spells+abilities then all 3) stopping if it starts seeing reasonable play.
I guess my hope was to design a card that forced people to think about some of those easy decisions (bolt snap bolt) a little more. And indirectly give a bonus to very fair cards.

Cool design, but why does a 1/1 haste for 1 need a downside when a card like Legion Loyalist exists? Perhaps make it a 2/2 with everything else being the same. This way we have another 2/2 haste one drop (alongside Goblin Guide) and they both have drawbacks.
Hexproof, Flash
Whenever a creature attacks you or a planeswalker you control, that creature gets -1/-0 until end of turn for each other attacking creature.

Things WotC cares about:
-making certain Standard cards can be played in Modern, therefore increasing their value and increasing WotC's profit margin
Things WotC does not care about:
-keeping the ban list as short as possible
-taking chances with an entire format for the benefit of a single card
-catering to play styles that newer players generally don't like and will lose them more players than it will gain
-keeping the meta balanced between archetypes/colors/whatever
-keeping cards on the secondary market cheap (available yes, but not cheap)
-keeping the meta diverse (as long as a single deck doesn't threaten the popularity of the format)

As a 2/2 it would be too powerful. As is it is good since you can use it in conjunction with Liliana, or in a burn style deck Shrine of Burning Rage.

Art would have the knight leading cavalry, at least it does in my head. For a Master of Riposte I would give it double strike while blocking. Not sure how to effectively cost something like that though.

A 2/2 would be way too strong tbh, especially with that second ability, way better than guide since you can use it over and over again. This 'drawback' is a potential boon since it combos with all sorts of stuff like Shrine of Burning Rage, Genesis Chamber, Blood Artist, Pack Rat and makes it better at warding against discard. TBH I almost made this card cost 1R because I was concerned it would be too under-costed at its current level.

Exactly, it's a great engine card. TBH now that you've listed all the things it could pair with I'm pretty convinced it would be undercosted.

Storm doesn't really care about it to be honest. It only effects three spells common in storm. Thoughtscour (which is not all that common) Gitaxian probe and Grapeshot. Rest in Peace or Rule of Law is far, far more potent.

Harvest Maiden is a bit too powerful. Scroll Thief is 3 cmc for a reason and this card has lifelink, protection from red, and can draw more cards in a color that doesn't have access to card draw. Personally I could see 2W Lifelink 1/1. Whenever you gain life you may pay 1. If you do draw a card.
