Making discard stapled on a creature seems enjoyable but not too broken.

Basically a Phyrexian Thoughtseize, it would obviously be strong enough to see play, and maybe more flexible, but I don't think it would be broken, very few WANT more discard of that level than we have. Most decks don't play 4 Thoughtseize and 4 IoK as it is
This feels like an upgrade to Thoughtseize to me. Ability to play for 1 mana as identical to TS (well, not really because if TS is countered you don't pay the life, but still) or the ability to pay 2 black later in the game? Yikes. WOTC has stated that reprinted TS in Theros was a mistake. I doubt they'd have the stomach for this, even if they ever revisit Phyrexian mana.
You also can't play this version of thoughtseize at 1 or less life. Angel's grace and phyrexian unlife in ad nauseam come to mind. As well as Platinum Angel from the madcap deck. Platinum Emperion would also prevent you from paying life to cast it. Also, Spell Snare hits this and not thoughtseize.

I would like to see wizards finish the priest cycle and also make them modern. There are currently Priest of Gix and Priest of Urabrask. I would just like them to finish the cycle and add Priest of Gix to modern.

This is worse than TS, because you pay the life even if it is countered, and 2 mana discard is if I remember correctly, even unplayable in 8-rack. The need for Phyrexian mana is the only issue I see, it would be powerful in Standard, but in a block with PM, there will be power

This spell is definitely better than TS. Yes it costs life if it's countered, but how often does that happen? The thing is that this is not a 2 mana discard spell. It's a TS that has kicker 1, if the kicker cost was paid, you don't loose life when you cast TS, which is a totally fine thing to do in the late game when you have lots of mana anyway. 2 mana discard spells are unplayable because you can't play them on turn 1.
Anyway, I'm pretty damn sure phyrexian mana will never ever be printed in a standard legal set again.

Yup, that's the idea. This wouldn't help against coco and chord decks the way priest would, but it trades that, some size, and an easier casting cost for the ability to act as a removal spell against aggro decks and mess with flashback/snaps. So after thinking about how quick the format is and how poor a spot U-based decks are at the moment, I brewed up this one:
Sudden VanishmentUU
Instant – Uncommon
If you cast Sudden Vanishment from your hand, you may return an island you control to its owner's hand rather than pay its casting cost.
Split Second
Return target creature to its owner's hand.
"And like that — *POOF* — he's gone."
—Verbal Kint
It's not quite as hard a counter to unfair decks as Blessed Alliance, and I don't think it should be. Rather, it's meant as a way for fair decks to compete with the 0-mana cards and dirt-cheap pumps/denial spells that unfair decks use. Turning off the alternate cost if flashed back tones down how badly it can break tempo. (And requiring 1UUU with Snapcaster means a big investment in blue.) In fair matchups, putting yourself behind a land drop is prohibitive unless you're really desperate or you're into the late game anyways, so I don't think it would change those matchups much.
It may be borderline maindeckable for slow U-focused decks. Between helping vs. Infect/Kiln Fiend and bounce working well inherently vs. things like Delve creatures, Delver, and cheating on mana costs, I think there's a market for good bounce. I'd be tempted to jam 1-3 into my 75s, at any rate. Of course I don't think this would make it through Standard, being Split Second and all. But this is all just about fantasizing anyways, so meh.

Devour1B

You may exile a nonwhite, nongreen, nonland card from your hand rather than pay Devour's mana cost.

OK, OK, took another shot. I even playtested it in Grixis vs. my gauntlet. Putting the draw on the back end and giving it a thematic but anti-synergetic (made-up word?) effect really did a lot to tone it down while still keeping it valuable. And of course it always works with Thirst for Knowledge!

Exile a card from your graveyard: Malefic Strix gains Deathtouch until end of turn.
When Malefic Strix dies, you may exile two cards from your graveyard. If you do, draw a card.

Also figured I'd post one more I'm fond of:
Polar Vortex1UU
Enchantment
At the beginning of each player’s upkeep, tap one target creature that player controls.
Creature spells cost 1 more to cast.
Because Sulfuric Vortex is awesome, and breaking symmetry is awesome, shifting amazing cards into new colors and effects is also awesome. It's actually funny, because this wants to come in for creature-light decks, but then you end up in situations where you're tapping down your only creature (usually a Tasigur) later on unless you can keep a Snapcaster or other little dork around. So it helps you stabilize at first, but it keeps you from pulling ahead until you get a substantial lead (or you get an effect to blow it up or sac it). It also puts a beating on decks that rely on squeezing a single threat through, so long as they're not mandlands of course!
Decks I have in my bag of tricks- Needless to say, someone who wants to play will probably have a deck UB/x Faeries UR Storm XURWB Affinity G Elves UW control

RW Kalemne's "Play Fatties and Hope for the Best!"
BUGW Atraxa's "All counters, all the time"
OK, OK, took another shot. I even playtested it in Grixis vs. my gauntlet. Putting the draw on the back end and giving it a thematic but anti-synergetic (made-up word?) effect really did a lot to tone it down while still keeping it valuable. And of course it always works with Thirst for Knowledge!
Malefic Strix UB
Artifact Creature - Bird
Flying
Exile a card from your graveyard: Malefic Strix gains Deathtouch until end of turn.
When Malefic Strix dies, you may exile two cards from your graveyard. If you do, draw a card.

Also figured I'd post one more I'm fond of:
Polar Vortex 1UU

Nice try Antrazi, but that card is busted.
It's V-Cllque's ability but you get the draw instead of the opponent??
Yes, I am a local area mod.WELP. GOOD LIFE CHANGES ALL HAPPEN AT ONCE AND SOME ARE MUTUALLY EXCLUSIVEPrimary Decks:
Modern: Esper Draw-Go
Legacy: RUG Lands
EDH: Sidisi turn-3 storm
All I can think is "Hey Thoughtseize is a good card, but we don't want it to cost a card. Plus it should be doable during their drawstep just in case they draw something good. 1 more mana sounds about right."
Yeah, that would be much more interesting. And fair
I would support this, especially as a cycling card.
