I'm going to step down as a mod from the Lantern IQ's. I've just started university again, and I would like to devote as much time to it as possible. (Although near the end, I started losing a bit of motivation into modding properly). I know that the tournament has much more capable hands now that I've left.
I'll give this Modern tournament one last hurrah, hopefully I can make top-4 this time around.

Inquiring minds would like to know: are we finishing February at the least?
And is LIQ a functioning account or has the migration killed the primary logistical system for these events?

LanternIQ was a functioning account, co-run by all the LanternIQ mods. Not sure if it's killed off or not after the migration over, as I haven't tried to log in using it since the downgrade.

Any room in this community for a returning player looking for some tutoring?
After a long thought process I have decided to learn Modern over legacy (entry cost and the fact that wizards can reprint most cards). It came down to liking the mechanics of Esper Stoneblade in Legacy and Jund in modern.
I have decided to jump into Modern and start with Jund. Through lots of reading I have found that you get better by playing the same deck over and over. You learn your deck AND how to beat other decks with it.
So, I am looking for some testing partners who will help me learn to play Jund, explain plays and mistakes, and help me play faster with the cockatrice program. If I feel decent enough I may drop some coin on cards or MTGO (haven't decided which yet).
We're already a week into March and not only have we not finished February, but we haven't even started March yet. Someone really needs to get on the ball here.

Modern is my favorite format. Although I've been playing Magic for roughly half my life, Modern itself (8th Edition-forward) represents a time in my life I returned after a few years off. And got serious about it.
My advice to you would be to use a program like Cockatrice or MWS and make a deck. Tweak it, test it, dream about it. Over and over and over. Once you get a list you like, go out, buy the cards (paper or Magic: Online) and enjoy it until you feel the need to branch out and try a few more decks.

Damage control!
Maybe I should remove myself so that there's no conflict of interest...
