This is a Modern community feedback thread. I know this isn't designed to be a sample of the website at large, but I'm curious to know how many people would be affected if we allowed users to list or promote certain types of content here.
Please let us know:
Do you have a MTG related stream or youtube Channel?
-- If so what types of content do you post (limited, constructed, modern et)
Do you have a MTG related blog and or podcast?
-- If so what types of content do you post/discuss
Do you participate in the MTGS Modern Tournaments (Lantern or DolZero)?
Do you participate in Bippy's PRE's (Player Run Events - Overdriven et) on MTGO
Have you participated in a Modern PTQ?
Do you play any form of online MTG, if so what platforms?
Any other constructive thoughts you have on this topic.
Out of the blackness and stench of the engulfing swamp emerged a shimmering figure. Only the splattered armor and ichor-stained sword hinted at the unfathomable evil the knight had just laid waste.

My blog is Modern specific. And my content is basically week-to-week musing on trends, theorizing, making jokes, and giving big ups to the cool junk I see around here (and the great players that frequent). I post on Mondays.
I stream occasionally (albeit randomly) mostly Modern and Pauper (occasionally limited), I was hoping to get a streamed tournament thing Started on MTGO anyway (preferably on Wednesdays), so we can have videos of people's interesting and cool deck ideas and a mutual testing group
Do you have a MTG related stream or youtube Channel? No, but I watch numerous streams with modern being my favorite content second to drafts.
Do you have a MTG related blog and or podcast? No.
Do you participate in the MTGS Modern Tournaments (Lantern or DolZero)? No. I didn't know MTGS hosted tournaments until I read this thread.
Do you participate in Bippy's PRE's on MTGO. I don't know what PRE's are, but I read Bippy's reports/graphs on the metagame.
Have you participated in a Modern PTQ? No, but I plan to in paper after I acquire more cards. I have played in a sanctioned 1k modern tournament in my hometown.
Do you play any form of online MTG, if so what platforms? Yes MTGO - modern, draft, and pauper.
Any other constructive thoughts you have on this topic. I draft often in paper and I like the thought of modern where you can stick to a particular deck for a long time (as opposed to standard where in a week you have to sell/trade cards). I'm building up my collection via trading to be able to play modern regularly. I'm very excited about the upcoming modern masters set. I think promotion of streams/blogs would be ok if it is somehow restricted so only 5% or less of the threads have such content.
Do you have a MTG related stream or youtube Channel?
-- Yes just starting out while I finish my degree, I prefer Modern and other constructed formats, not much limited. Youtube has been done already for me in the past, I got less than a few hundred hits but this was years ago and I plan on creating a whole new channel.
Any other constructive thoughts you have on this topic.
Lots, I understand MTGS is a free running website, built for community purposes, and the nowadays trends are towards streaming media forms which are both educational in the ways of learning perspectives of others, and evaluating yourself. MTGO is the perfect game for streaming, unlike other games where action is an all time drag towards the level of attraction, moves and choices in Magic are very complex and must be processed thoroughly. Watching how others evaluate their plays has made me want to stream Magic, not League of Legends where Voyboy has 50,000k viewers (although that would be nice).
Magic and streaming are growing large together, over Pro Tour Gatecrash Magic was the second most watched game on stream next to League of Legends. Magic had over 25,000+ viewers. 25,000. We were more popular than World of Warcraft, Dota 2, and Call of Duty COMBINED. If only for a brief moment... Magic is being more respected now than ever, and I enjoy streaming and being able to tell people about it so not only does it improve their play, it can improve my own, share some laughs and get some direction to where my community contributions reside. Is advertising a real thing? Yes absolutely, should we be advertising on a free forum website? Probably not, we shouldn't be spamming, but Having our own threads notifying other posters when we are live is absolutely common among hundreds of games.
League of Legends
Smash Brothers Melee
Call of Duty
Starcraft
... Just to name a few, they all have subsidiary websites (or even official ones) where they advertise their presence on Twitch or another stream based website.
I would like to know why this is any different? We are not an official website, but a fan-based one. Is there a real problem in having for example
Nion Radio STREAMING! - Online/Offline
Is the harm the worry that we are taking traffic away from the website and bringing it to another? Or is the fear that I as an individual am scamming the community to make a quick 25 cents while streaming my open hand to everyone who wants to ghost me? Then my next question is, what if you for whatever reason want to stop any streaming posts at all. How are you going to moderate it while the game only gets bigger through Streaming?
This isn't a threat, this is a legitimate question, I'm not the only one who streams in this community, there are about half a dozen people in the standard forums, at any given time I see at least 10 people streaming Magic in general, and I can recognize user names between these forums a ton. If we have a section where we can have one thread to post out activities streaming I see no harm, other websites do it, why are we refuting, and how long do you guys want to refute for?
I pretty much just play magic in its entirety IRL, mostly with a small group of people from my college. I would like to participate in some sort of tournament online, but only on cockatrice as I don't have any interest in MODO.

When it comes to streams, I'd rather watch than do it myself. I don't think I have the patience to establish a stream.
Do you have a MTG related blog and or podcast?

I used to write articles for several websites, but that was before Modern was even a thing. I might start my own thing, though.
Do you participate in the MTGS Modern Tournaments (Lantern or DolZero)?
Didn't find the time to do so yet.
Do you participate in Bippy's PRE's (Player Run Events - Overdriven et) on MTGO
Nope.
Have you participated in a Modern PTQ?
Yes, quite a few. I'm a grinder.
Do you play any form of online MTG, if so what platforms?
I used to use MWS and Cockatrice, but the community is so bad that I can't be arsed to anymore.
I occassionally play Pauper on MODO, though.
