Rundown for those too lazy to look:
- Jun'ya Iyanaga is playing a four-colour Delver deck with Knight of the Reliquary and Elspeth, Knight-Errant.
- Shouta Yasooka is playing some weird RUG thing with Eternal Witness and Cryptic Command. Might be of interest to Badd B, though the list is pretty different from his.
- Kibler is playing Doran WU Restoration, actually. So is Jon Finkel.
- Perhaps surprisingly, a lot of people are back on four-colour Zoo. Josh Utter-Leyton, Owen Turtenwald, PVDDR, Reid Duke, David Ochoa, and LSV are all Snapcasting Tribal Flames.
- Tzu-Ching Kuo is playing Affinity.
- Martin Juza, Yuuya Watanabe, and Shuhei Nakamura are on Jund.
- Samuele Estratti and Alexander Hayne are on RUG Delver.
...And the most players picked Izzet as their favourite guild. Brewers hooray!
Iyanaga's list appears to be an evolution of UWR Delver (New Blue Zoo), with Goyf instead of Lynx, KotR instead of Traft, and Bant Charm instead of Tribal Flames. Interesting.
Probably the only reason why Yasooka plays Vials is because he plays Thirst for Knowledge and only 21 lands.
Kibler is not on Delver--he's on UW Restoration Tempo, with the only innovation being SoWaPs. Finkel's also on the same deck, and likely the same 60-75.
In the Tribal Blue Zoo decks, Traft seems to be overtaking KotR as the 3-drop of choice.
Estratti is on RUG Tempo Thresh/RUG Delver, not UWR Delver. Three Shackles seems like a bit much, though. Hayne is on the same deck, though not the same 60.
Anyone else concerned about the eerily similarity of the decks?
It's like all of Team ChannelFireball got into the Championships. Actually, what percentage of them are from that team, and what percent of that team is actually in the Championships?
It's not at all indicative of Modern as a format though -- in such a small tournament, you don't have any idea of what you'll be playing against, so most of these players have opted for a proactive fair deck rather than a hateable unfair deck.

Patch me back to my mind
Shouta's deck is crazy, it really harkens back to the Punishing Fire versions when RUG was really the best option for control. He abuses Snapcaster and Tarmogoyf better than any other variant.
my god, so many people are playing 4 color zoo. i'm interested to see how the u/w restoration decks do. i built it and played it tonight for the first time. surprisingly difficult to pilot (or i got bad draws.. haha)

I speak in sarcasm because calling people ******* ******** is not allowed.
Yasooka is smashing face with his RUG Vial list. Drop Huntmaster, let it flip right away, GG. Also uses Snapcaster, Eternal Witness and Clique to drop in off of Vial's so he can abuse his graveyard for less mana (Vial into Snappy into Cryptic, Thirst for Knowledge, Bolt, counter magic, etc.)

Not a Birthing Pod in sight.

Finkel and Kibler on U/W midrange
Hayne and Estratti are on RUG delver
No one is playing U/W/r delver. Lots of small zoo though.
Fixed. This is what happens when I do this while half asleep.
(And now I'm going to go to bed, so if there's any other errors they'll just have to wait.)

Interesting to see this Aether Vial/Cryptic Command/Eternal Witness deck in action.
they called it midrange on the stream, and Kibler nor Finkel corrected Zac

Really awesome deck.
I'm not sure what i find most surprising; Delver being turned into a 4c Midrange deck or a lack of Birthing Pod.
Those are really cool brews.
RUG Vial is particularly interesting to me.

considering half of them are on the same team and mostly settled on the same deck....no
also, it's a 16 man tournament. the sample size of deck choice statistics is irrelevant.

Considering the deck runs almost no "affinity" cards, it shouldn't be called that.

Is G/R Tron still viable? I hardly see anyone play it in GPs but it looks like my type of deck.
"Robots" is lame, call it what people know it by: "Affinity".
