Why would the affinity player keep that hand. No turn 1 play other than Drum, Steel Overseer as his only creature and a bunch of manlands. Seems like a pretty easy mull to me.
Out of the blackness and stench of the engulfing swamp emerged a shimmering figure. Only the splattered armor and ichor-stained sword hinted at the unfathomable evil the knight had just laid waste.
Nothing in this game is degenerate or completely dominant. They haven't banned anything in standard in a long, long time. Hell they should have banned affinity right away, but they didn't until boxed sales collapsed too. Hasbro had to come in and fire people.
I'll enjoy watching all the whiners eat crow monday.
In case I didn't tell you, I don't care about your opinion I just want your facts. And not the facts that make you seem smart. I want the ones that are actual facts.
Was there any reason the Pod player didn't get Thrun earlier instead of the Baloth?
I would have to check the replay, but I beleive the Pod player knew bronson had 1 unknown card in hand, and he was potentially playing around a sandbagged liliana. It's also possible that the Pod player was simply hoping to get in some damage with baloth, and draw into another finks to seal the deal with a protected thrun.
Either way, the baloth bought 2 turns for the pod player.
You can't use pod on an opponent's turn. You can only use it as a sorcery.
yeah forgot that.
Loam deck is pretty neat, but I would be afraid to play because it seems like it would be pretty weak to graveyard hate. Even your creatures other than dark confidant rely on the graveyard.
Hopefully you can find them somewhere. The final game of the finals is definitely worth watching. It is one of the most epic games in magic history in my opinion. So many twist and turns. You could even hear the crowd gasping from time to time as one player pulled an incredible top deck.

I agree completely, unfortunately others will not agree because neither of these guys were "pros". I'm glad they ended up in the finals. Both were playing really interesting decks, and both were interesting people to watch.
So much more so than the vast majority of pros like LSV or Kiblr. I respect their abilities, but I get bored watching them. Then again, that's probably my bias as a Chapin and Conley fan talking.

Persecution seems awesome. Surprised the BW deck didn't have it.
