I'm as lost as you are, but apparently the free trial option was removed when MTGO III was released.

ahhh dang. Wow, wizards really likes to screw over people. Looks like i wont get to play magic for a awhile. (Unless someone want to let me borrow their account, which is unlikely)

The free trial was really not that great anyways I don't know many people that actually spent any noticeable time on the free trial.

Getting an account is free technically you just pay 10 bucks then get 10 bucks in product as a refund.

Feel free to bid on my cards here!

yeah get an account, and if you get it Now, you can take that 10 bucks, and make yourself possible more. Shards of Alara boosters cost $4 in the store, and you can sell them for about 6 tickets. giving you just about 18 tickets, if you use the $10 coupon, and pay an extra $1 or something like that Smile

The free server from ver 2.5 is still up. There's nowhere to download the 2.5 client, though, so you can only connect if you still have an old 2.5 installation.

I used to play on the free server pretty often, but I only got into Magic recently and don't have many cards.

If you have an account there are a few free card bots up. I run one called mtgotradersfreebot. You can get 64 free commons per account.
    PureMTGO
MTGOTraders - Coupon mtgsallypaypal for 8% off orders paid for with paypal.
MTGO Hotlist! - Pays more than bots for singles.
CapeFearGames - Coupon mtgsally for 5% off entire order. Orders ship same day if order placed before 3pm EST M-F. Do not stack with other coupons please.

Paying extra 20% on paper cards for MTGOTraders credits.

Yeah but you need an account first, which is the thing the OP is complaining about.

Dude, just shell out 10 bucks, its worth it even if you just get a starter deck with the credit and play with that+free commons.

My problem: I can't buy an account. I spend hours of searching to discover it's not possible to buy an account with paypal.

great. Why can't they fix this?

I am willing to be that there are people out there that would let you send them PayPal in exchange for them to set up your MTGO account via their credit card.

I too mourn the loss of the "free trial" section - it allowed for games in a contained environment. Sure, for just 10$ you can buy a deck and play online - but you're up against people that are shelling out big bucks for their decks. So basically, you'd have to spend some cash, too. That's what's holding me back from playing Magic Online; in real life, your friends would probably be understanding, and play lesser decks against you. You can't count on that online.

    I gave up!
I spend hours of searching, and only after sending them a mail, I hear that it's impossible to buy an account with paypal.
It's not that difficult to communicate this earlier and better.
If WOTC can't communicate on a proper way, then I don't trust it.

If they want me to spend money for their products, then they should bring me a solution. I'm not going to do more efforts for it.

    Nothing is impossible.

    Example only:
You send me your $10 PayPal.
I use my Credit Card to start an account for you.
    Hand you the keys.
You have your account and are happy.
    The End.

You just need to think outside the box a little bit. There are ways to accomplish anything

The free trial I will agree was not that great. When i started playing the only decks you could play were Xth edition starter decks. After the time I spent playing it I had a friend that decided to give me all of his online cards since he didnt want to play any more. Unfortunatly the cards were kawabunga block but I cant be to rude cause they were free.
