Somebody give me a quick run-down of all the things that my primer fails to mention. Any important matchups, cards, new developments, etc. I'll be revamping it soon, but I'd like to know what you guys would like to know about.
I'd love to see some advice on what to do in each matchup (ie how to disrupt them, what to watch out for, etc). I'm just getting into pauper now, mainly because of monetary issues and this was one of the cheapest builds (cost me $4 to finish the traditional mono black discard listed in the OP).
Is that traditional deck still viable in dailies, or does it need to be updated? I feel like it needs Crypt Rats, Augur of Skulls, Funeral Charm, and/or Spinning Darkness to make it a true contender but I'm not sure as I haven't played with it a whole lot and don't fully know the current meta (I've skimmed a few recent daily events decklists but haven't fully studied them and have yet to actually play in a pauper daily).
I was also thinking of taking out at least 1 Doom Blade for a MB Victim of Night and maybe have an additional 1 of each in the SB and maybe take out the Befouls?
Final questions: Do you also think it's worth going up to 3-4 Barren Moors? And does the sideboard need any graveyard hate for flashback?
depends on the environment, stompy has been playing a lot stronger these days so being a bit removal heavy isn't necessarily a bad thing... if you're gonna remove something I think the singleton copy of distress is a bit odd
Oh oops, I'm pretty sure that Distress was supposed to be Disfigure (which is why I listed it under removal).
The biggest problems pre-sideboard are Storm and Post. Post especially as often the game will drag on and you may have 6-7 removal spells in your hand with no targets.
And speaking of Disfigure, I'm really not a huge fan of being heavy on the -2/-2 til EOT spells, other than Echoing Decay. But there are so many creatures that are larger than 2 toughness, or have the ability to get larger til EOT through pump spells, artifact abilities, or their own abilities.
Basically, I removed the Distress (or Disfigure) and a Victim of Night for a Tendrils of Corruption and another Corrupt. I love these two cards as they give this deck some much needed life gain and the Corrupt gives this deck reach, but I'm concerned about the mana cost of them.
What do other people think? Should I go back to just 2 Corrupts and add more removal? Add another creature or discard spell?
Alright, so I loaded up the first presented deck list in the Opening Post as a basis for myself. First thing I noticed is that if an aggro deck drops three or four threats on me, I typically can't handle it fast enough to get to my Corrupts. I know as a sweeper we have Crypt Rats and Shrivel but what about Festercreep and Death's-head Buzzard? Festercreep seems good because it can give -2/-2 if you really need it, although it is very slow initially. The Buzzard was just another interesting card that I thought could be used efficiently with a sacrifice engine perhaps. Thoughts?
EDIT: I thought Festercreep started with two counters. Never mind. Although it might work as a Shrivel on a stick.
This is my deck that I put together for sort of a home fnm paper pauper event type thing, we got a program to run the games and hope to make pauper a thing for us instead of stupid ffa minimanah.
I am sort of worried about post decks, sinkhole doesn't exist in nebraska so I think I could run with befoul, I mostly use BMoor to draw a card so I could prolly just remove them for swamps and go full 4 SiBlood.
Cruel edict was printed at common in portal so to my understanding I can use it yes? if not I can switch it out for disfigure or something like that.
Any ideas that I may haven't thought of yet? I cant seem to find my crypt rats so would pestilence be a viable alternative? is 2 corrupts enough?
I feel that if I can hate out post decks I can work over most other decks that I might see, any muc deck is going to be tough no matter how I look at it as mbc is just inferior to real control.

On mires toll, Late game you get to see there hand, what they are working towards and you get to choose any card and its gone, as a one of I can see its use very well. I never understood why any one would ever run so many one ofs though.
Both decks look good, the seccond needs a few more edicts and something like dead weight, more discard.
@Key: One of the ways MBC has been trying to even up on Posts is using six slots in the SB for LD... Befoul is usually used in those six since it has some utility beyond LD and the other is often like Choking Sands
you pretty much nailed it... what MBC benefits from is that CoP:B isn't something that people really use... usualy what you'll see is CoP:R, but I don't think I've ever seen CoP:B used in competitive play (now Obsidian Acolyte is another bag of frustrating lol)
Stompy has become a tougher match thanks to the new addition of Young Wolf and Hunger of the Howlpack, which feed off of all the kill

Yes, and I find Silhanna Ledgewalker to put a crinkle in my happiness fabric. If I can rip their hand to shreds and manage to kill their stuff, I usually do okay, but it's a tough one for me.
even with young wolf and hunger, I find mono black to be a generally unfavourable matchup for stompy provided that they're packing sufficient proper removal (temporary -2/-2s like echoing decay generally won't get you there, you need destroy or edict spells). You should be running geth's verdict, I'd say the full playset (some can be in the board), for hexproofers and if you play smart you should be able to grind their creatures out and win. Crypt rats can also be pretty good if you keep your life total up, and any mid-late game lifegain can be excellent.
The nice thing about edicts vs stompy is that they ALWAYS kill something. Even if it's only one half of an undying/persist creature - you're gonna have to kill both halves at some point. That's not the case with any of the targeted -X/-X, damage or 'destroy' spells which can be countered by pumps and/or vines. That the edicts are able to take out ledgewalkers if nothing else is on the field is just upside.
I should also point out that non-targeted discard is actually pretty bad vs stompy due to its ability to vomit its hand out onto the field so quickly if necessary, and the additional possibility of bouncing excess lands back to hand with quirion ranger. So if you're playing against it, consider siding out the more expensive discard like chittering rats and (especially) okobi-gang shinobi in favour of more removal.

I sadly lack Crypt Rats. I'm sure it would help with the matchup significantly.
I recently came into 48 tickets while doing some sealed events and I don't want to blow it all on limited, I wanted to start playing and participating in constructed and figured Pauper would be the biggest bang for my buck and hopefully I can place. This was a really intriguing deck to me ever since last year and I'm hoping to buy the cards and play the deck, but how well is it positioned?
I went through all the pauper black cards and these are all the cards that we may be able to be used in sideboard or variants that aren't always recommended.
I'm sure people have done this before, but I think some of these are worth noting and are good for the meta. Let me know what you guys think and how well you do with this type of deck?
MBC has a bad matchup vs ur post and mono blue, two of the biggest decks in meta. It's showings among winning lists has been low and falling for the past couple of months to the point that its almost a rogue deck. There would need to be a significant meta shifts for it to be well positioned.
