A few days ago I joined MTGO with intention to join the fun in pauper...But I'm struggling to find where it is.
So far the only deck that has interested me enough just to consider it is U/G Madness, but it has its 4/4 wurm and falls short in the fun department after that, mostly.
For reference: I play Reanimator in Legacy and in process of building Jhoira for Commander.
What do you find lacking in Pauper, precisely? What makes it less fun for you?
I also play Reanimator in Legacy. There is no deck in Pauper that can replicate this deck's power level, nor is there a strategy that resembles it that is remotely competitive.
What decks have you tried?
I think the closest thing to what Reanimator does would be Tron (completely different, I know). You get to play big creatures, pretty much any spell you want, and can even expand on Blue cards with Countermagic, according to your tastes. It requires a lot of skill to play, as choosing what cards to play and when is rather tricky. Being a Legacy player, you probably do this fairly well already, so it shouldn't be a problem for you.

A very hard question actually. It just feels like everyone fixated on few aggro decks and play nothing else. Pauper has, I'm sure, a lot of great cards that people tend to ignore because Delvur Anglir hurr durr and stuff. Although I'm sure it just the general feel.
What decks have you tried?
Hexproof, but I couldn't find Bogles anywhere so the deck is a bit "watered down". I will leave it as a last resort in case I won't settle down on anything, since autopilot decks never get old, can win games and since games fly fast enough chances are you will meet some guy with a great brew are bigger. Nightsky Mimic deck, that feels similar to Deadguy Ale deck in many ways. Deadguy Ale is a pretty interesting deck to play, so why not try the Nightsky Mimic one? Also having Guardian of the Guildpact avaliable in format where all removal exept one or two edicts is monocolored seems too good to pass up. According to mtggoldfish, at very least.
I also looked at U/G Madness, but it lacks a tiny bit in "Big Wurms to throw at your face", and every other creature is mediocre at best.
Hard to tell but I think you might enjoy a Tortured Existence deck. Fairly complex to play with a lot of interesting and strong-ish creatures. The lists I have might be a little out of date but you can take them as a starting off point if you think they look appealing. Golgari Existence Rocky Horror
Domain Zoo would be another option if you wanted something a bit more on the aggro side of things.

You loose your Tortured Existence and then your deck becomes a porridge of mediocre creatures.
Other than that the deck is prety cool, I'll try it sometime.
Hi, everyone!
Didn't want to start a new thread as this one is suitable for my question.
Guys, I need your advice as a newb in the format! We're starting pauper at our LGS (in paper but with mtgo banlist) and I'm looking for decks which have pretty even MU with other decks. I mean - we're going to have not so many players at first, so our meta's going to be quite small, and it's going to be very easy to pack our decks to hate each other So, if my deck is going to be hated, I would like to tune it to fight through all the hate. Are there any decks which are flexible and more or less universal in their ability to play around any hate?
Thank you!
Pauper are not so expensive. If you can it would be perfect to build 2 or 3 decks per person. This way you cannot build a perfect sideboard or even play hate mainboard.
Flexible decks in the meta to start with I think are controlldecks with blue and/or black. I would say MBC, MUC (maybe Delver), UB Angler are good choices for your first pick. Don't play too extreme decks like Turbo Exhume or Burn.
Thanks for your reply! It's a good idea to have some alternative decks! Unfortunately, my buddy's gonna build UB Angler Delver, and I don't want to make him think I'm copying him, so I have to give it up MBC and MU Delver seem pretty solid to me! I'll definitely try building them!
A couple of questions if you don't mind
1. Is monoblue delver going to keep being well-positioned now when Cloud of Faeries has been banned?
2. What do you thing about Kuldotha Boros/Kuldotha Jeskai deck?
Monoblue Delver will be playable at least until they ban Delver of Secrets.
Any kind of upper-midrange deck is going to have broadly good matchups. MBC is a solid contender. The Red/White Wellspring deck is an old favorite of mine, but in an unknown field, the blue splash is probably a strict improvement.
EDIT: Oh, wow - I hadn't looked at the metagame lately. Kuldotha Jeskai is tier 1? That's so cool!
Oh, you think the losers' bracket is your ally, but you merely adopted the scrub tier. I was born in it, molded by it. I didn’t 4-0 an FNM until I was already a man; by then, it was nothing to me but an extra pack to sell for store credit!

Yes, it actually is
Thank you for your help! Now I think I'm gonna start with MBC, MU delver and Kudoltha Jeskai!
I'm only a bit worried - is there a chance that the latter will suffer from artifact hate packed against affinity?
In my experience, artifact hate is rarely relevant to the Boros Wellspring decks. The worst thing is probably getting artifact lands popped by Gorilla Shaman, but there are so many times that you draw non-artifact lands instead, and GS isn't hard to kill. That or Steel Sabotage from Delver can make game 2 awkward and painful.

We will see after a few weeks how Delver is played without the faeries. I think the deck can handle the banning with Faerie Miscreant, although the cloud is of course MUCH better.
Arfifacthate is not so hard against Delver. The deck can easily kill without Bonesplitter and with your counters you can protect the golem.

Well, at least splashing blue in Wellspring we are able to counter something in addition to our red removal, which also helps.
Thank you, guys! Now I think I have the ideas to start with and it's time to begin searching for cards
I would recommend Mystical Teachings if you don't want to play an aggressive deck and you're worried about being hated out. When you play Teachings, you don't worry about being hate on. YOU ARE THE HATE.
Very difficult deck to know how to pilot correctly if you haven't play a lot of Pauper though. Even if you're an intelligent player, you're playing the deepest control deck in the format. You need to know what you're up against and pack answers accordingly.

Since you call Teachings a difficult deck to master, I'm going to learn the format and our local meta a bit playing other decks. And as soon as I feel myself ready (or feel myself hated out ), I'll try Teachings!
