Thank you Robert! I think a link to this forum is better than no appearance in facebook, gumgod. Also, I like to have the discussion at one place for all.
I think the time consuming aspect is the most important one! Connected to that is the number of players that show up with a legal deck for a special format event.
I had a very interesting chat with Chamale yesterday. Looks like Wotc ****ed up the Modern ban list, too. Even worse than the S100 ban list, then he said that there are players who play a new format: Modern without ANY banned cards, which seems still better than WotC Modern, which made Eldrazi basically to the one-and-only deck in modern.
I played Modern for the last time over a year ago, and just didn't know. However, we should consider, that S100 allows only one copy of each card, so 'Modern S100' could still work, while 'WotC Modern' itself is broken.
All in all, my interest in playing Modern S100 has decreased.
I'm brainstorming here. What do you think?
I definitely agree about the Modern banlist being a completely mismanaged joke, and the format is screwed beyond repair.
Also do we know when we will be allowed to use the new Oath cards? They are effectively banned in our tournament so I think it is misleading to not mention that in the OP.
The easiest way to check the legality of cards: Enter your decklist in Gatherling to register.Any illegal card will be named in RED
I thought this is clear enough.
However, I added: That explicitly means that new cards are not legal until the new set is uploaded in Gatherling!
At the moment the number of players is okaaay, but considering the normal player fluctuation in MTGO, we definitely need to find new players for the format in the medium term, which of course is much harder without the filter in MTGO anymore. I'm hoping some players from the 'paper world' that join MTGO give us the fresh blood, we need. S100 is quite popular with paper cards, there are half a dozen variants, some old, some new because of the unpopular last changes in 'official' ban list , before WotC abandoned the format eventually. With the closure of all their forums, they hit the PRE- community another time, that was a 'natural' place where new players could get all information. Also, when the S100 filter still existed, you could meet new players in matches. I chatted with any 'new' name I met about the free S100 tournament and gatherling.
Easy:-) Focus group related advertising:-)
Now we must rely on that ' we will be found'. Which usally needs, that someone searches. That's why I initialised a facebook page as another link. Additionally, I was thinking of some Youtube-videos of S100 matches from the event. Maybe somebody has already experience and knows how to make that. Is there free or public domain software for it? I will record, if my 5 year old PC is sufficient: Win7, Intel i5, 8GB ram-No double channel.
I posted the following comment in the Youtube-video 'What is Highlander (100 Card Singleton)?' :
'If you want to play Singleton 100 online at MTGO: FREE Tournament every Saturday 3.30 PM EST. Prizes sponsored by MTGOCardMarket.

If you know another social media with a Magic or S100 discussion, page, forum or whatever, please do the same. I must admit that I'm not using any of those new media channels, probably I'm too old
There is no edit function in Youtube, otherwise I would have added: (Highlander). Because in the 'paper world' Highlander seems much more known and used than S100 or Singleton 100.
'If you want to play Singleton 100 (Highlander) online at MTGO ...'
There has always been a fluctuation of players in the course of time, some go , some come. We must make sure that new players will find us.
The destiny of the S100 format on MTGO is in our hands!
Be like a missionary! Though, not the Spanish inquisition type.
Although, if they don't want to play S100, they must be heretics!
If anybody has another idea for how 'we could be found' please let us know!
I have used the software EZVid to record MTGO replays. It uploads straight to YouTube, but it can take a while to process a video so I'm not sure if you'd want to record during an event. There's has to be better software, but I found this easily and it's free. You can also do commentary with it, but I have just put my replays to music. It's a lousy and lazy way to do it I guess, but even doing it that way takes a good chunk of time. Just FYI. I have considered doing videos while playing, and while I like the end result because watching them helps me see where I could have played better, it's a major pain imo. There are lots of other streamers that have way more experience than me with this. The biggest computing bottleneck I ran into when I was doing this was hard drive space. I dual boot Windows on a Mac to run MTGO, and so I didn't give the Windows Partition much space and had to re-partition when I started doing this.
Reddit may a good place if you want to advertise the events.
Probably a famous Youtuber's video about MTGO PRE's would just fix things. Sometimes when they make deck techs about not so popular decks and I say 'hey, this looks cool, I go check how much these cards cost and then maybe build it too' I just find that the cards' prices just got spiked somewhat since the video's release day. If only 1% of the viewers try a PRE, that's still a couple hundred people. The problem with this I think is that if they don't do PRE's already, why would they advise it? And how? If they just tried it once or twice they wouldnt really be competent. So I'm just sorry none of them is really into PRE's.
I could think of one special format that is not too stupid or weird. Other than heirloom, maybe silverblack (only commons and uncommons)? It sounds fun for me. Different enough from regular, but still mainstream. Building decks look easier as well than in heirloom for example, or maybe even the current vintage. Would red decks be too good though in silverblack?
I have messaged the professor about it before. If more people brought it up though, maybe he'd do a video on it. I'd love to see someone like that just talk about how to find and participate in player run events. (Not specifically S100 or Heirloom, but in general).

I never uploaded a video so far, do you mean, while recording MTGO will be lagging heavily, or that the PC will be occupied for severeal hours afterwards? I thought the processing of a video is after recording? Or is it because the software uploads immediately? We don't need that, and if we want to make comments, it might be better to do them afterwards. My idea was to have some videos named 'Highlander (S100) tournament or finals 3/12/16' etc. on Youtube with our link. So people can see that there is such a tournament regularly and can find us. Commented games might be even better, but I didn't think of it before, because Mike has no mike
Probably a famous Youtuber's video about MTGO PRE's would just fix things.
Who would you consider as famous?
For a start it could already help if you ask such a guy in comment section, if he would considering making a video about PRE in general or Highlander (S100) specifically, with our link http://tinyurl.com/Chainsaw-S100
like Gumgod's approach. Of course, this is a shotgun, many of the viewers play only with paper cards, don't know the format or whatever, but if we get just 1 new fan player(=staying) per month from this, it would be enough to stabilize and withstand MTGO fluctuation, with 2 we would grow in the course of time.
Silverblack (and Heirloom) S100 seems to favour red and aggro/direct damage, they work better as formats without the additional S100 restriction imho. But the real problem is the time and effort any new special format needs, besides the possible necessary investment in new cards. All reasons why less players would come, next to just forgetting to make a deck or disliking the special format. So, for now I won't introduce a new special format on a regular base. But let's keep brainstorming, for the next special event. If the deck format shouldn't be changed out of the above reasons, we may change the event structure !? How about dividing the players in 2 groups,f.e. we make Sea and Sensei ( the 2 champions with the most event wins) captains, then they choose after another next players.
All members of a team fighting each other member of opposing group, collecting VP groupwise, after 2nd and/or next rounds each team must drop a player with lowest VP, then playoffs inbetween winning group. Do you like the idea?

I mean that it would be tied up for several minutes at a time while processing a video (after recording, but before uploading). For me this was a problem with doing the recording of an event live as I didn't have the hard drive space to make long videos and making and uploading short videos (10-20 minutes) wasn't quick enough to be able to record all my matches during an event. It didn't interfere with the speed of running MTGO at all for me. If you have the drive space to record all your matches into one project and then edit/upload them after the event it would be fine.
I'm just listing my experiences with it. The software was pretty straight forward to use. My laptop would heat up some and fans would come on when it was processing the video but for the most part the only problem I had was just the amount of space that the HD video uses on a hard drive. I have three partitions on my 500GB hard drive, and the Windows one did not have enough free space available.
I currently have obligations that delay me until 4PM Saturdays (except Saturdays where I am playing PPTQ where I'll miss the entire event). So I'll be an auto-bye Round 1 for the time being.
The team idea seems very intriguing. Even without my timing issues, we'd have to work out how to handle when someone drops out before s/he's eliminated. Might be worth a shot.
There's some S100 videos on mtgoAcademy.com and puremtgo.com. I even made some with my Naya and Abzan decks. They're likely too old to help with recruiting in 2016 though.
Making a video would be cool, unfortunately I don't have the means to do that as my crappy old laptop can barely run just MTGO, no way it could handle recording video on top of that. I'd be willing to play against someone for the purposes of making one, though. I have a variety of decks at my disposal, so any matchup you want we can probably arrange it.
As for format variants, I'd be willing to try out a pauper version. I don't like heirloom since having legality based on the crazy, unregulated, wildly fluctuating market that is MTGO prices seems insane to me. Building and tuning 100CS decks is enough work without having to look up the price of every card to see if its legal. With pauper it's at least clear what is and isn't legal.
I didn't even know that puremtgo has videos at all. How to access them? However, it would be great if we have our link in the comments of any S100 video ever posted.
Only Sensei responded about the team event idea, so far. The rest is undecided !?
Maybe this wasn't noticed by all, because it was 'hidden' in the end of an answer to Gq1rf7:

I think it would be great to have something really special and not only extra prizes for a special event.
I have no example or role model for this event in gatherling or Mtgo. I made it up myself. The other events, I guess, would have problems to determine the 'captains' of the teams. We have several strong players with good placements, that also won a few events, but Sensei and Seaandrhythm are far ahead. While Sensei still has far more event wins, Seaandrhythm was more successful in the last months. So, I think that's equal.
However, I realized a possible problem with my idea: What to do if we have an odd number of players on day of event? How should we compensate?
If nobody else ever recorded a game as video(using another software), I will try the one gumgod proposed. I will test the recording of a game tomorrow (Monday), if there are candidates for sparring: Any time between 1pm to 7pm EST, let me know!
I would be open to trying something new, but I have no idea how teams would possibly work. It sounds like a big mess, but if you explain it to me and I have time to prepare for it (either mentally or with a deck), I'd probably play it. Too bad they killed 2HG.
It's not MULTI-PLAYER! all duells 1 on 1. Yes, only the winning team gets prrizes.
I'm in a hurry right now. Recording postponed to any time between 3.30 PM - 8 pm
Just message me here if u want to play vs me for the test
Good test, the software is absolutely simple to use and does NOT let you lag in Mtgo, at least it didn't on my old PC.
It takes 2 h all in all for 29 min( working in background) .
I know now that there is an 'EZvideo ad' at start. And that you can remove it by rightclicking on it before recording.
And that the choice of music by the EZsoftware let my ears bleed!
So, I'm thinking about removing the first video.
This is another game just 7 min, with a track of my own:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oFY6gklRgGY
Although, audio commentary would be more interesting. Unfortunately the game itself is not as interesting as the first game of the longer video.
But maybe a 30 min Video is too long anyway.
Some clarifications: NO Multi-player( really , today another player thought teams means multi-player games).
All games 1 vs. 1. Team 1 vs Team 2. A player collect VP'S for his group, beside the personal VP's. After the end of the team phase, the (left over) players of the winning team have play offs inbetween themselves. Only the winning team gets prizes. Although, we could do some extra prizes for individuals.
However, if you don't like the idea of a team event please raise your voice! It has never been done before, I am just brainstorming here. If severeal players don't want it , we will do something else! There are some problems, and a lot of work for me ahead to make it work, like how decide the pairings, probably Captain vs Captain, 1st choice vs 1st coice, etc in 1st round, then moving up the board for 2nd round: Captain vs 1st choice, etc.

I'm not excited about teams, but I would try it if others think it's a good idea.
Sensei and Sea, liked the idea and would test it.
RobertZdar disliked it, and would rather like to play 'normally'.
I count Gumgod's 'not exicited but would try', as abstention.
So 2-1 for team event, so far.
TIME CHANGES AHEAD !!
March 19th event could be effected! The starting time of Tribal Apocalypse is now just 2.5 h before Chainsaw Massacre( instead of 3.5h ), this is only the 2 weeks, we have different 'summer times'. This week is Pure in tribal, so I expect only 3 rounds and that we could start punctually afterwards. However, if necessary( because Tribal did not finish) we would start 15-30 min later.
