Found an unopened white Journey into Nyx "Forged in Glory" pre-release kit in a box tonight (I also found a black "Forged in Tyranny" kit, but that's another story for another day). I decided to open it up and build a sealed deck out of boredom.
The three things that immediately stuck out to me were that (1) this pool did not have much in the way of bombs besides the seeded pack rares--Dawnbringer Charioteers and Launch the Fleet, (2) all of the colors were--relatively speaking--creature light, and (3) besides white, no color was particularly deep, period. That having been said, white was about 3 or 4 good pulls and 4 or 5 warm bodies away from potentially being a viable mono-color deck. The pair color would thus be closer to a "splash" than a primary color.
Blue pretty clearly had little to offer in the way of warm bodies and/or heroic triggers and was easily eliminated. Red had a glut of cheap creatures with heroic, but not much in the way of heroic triggers and no good burn or removal. Black had awesome removal between Asphyxiate and Hero's Downfall, as well as some solid dorks like Bloodcrazed Hoplite and Erebos's Emissary, but again wasn't very deep and didn't offer much in the way of heroic triggers. I ultimately settled on a white-green deck because it offered the best bodies and the best synergy with all of the cheap green combat tricks to trigger my white and green heroic creatures.
