Hm, not an especially strong pack. I don't think taking a triple blue effect first pick is a wise idea. Aerie worshipers looks appealing (though I haven't had a chance to play it myself yet), and is the direction I'm leaning. Fall of the Hammer and Reap What Is Sown seem like the next best option.
This is an odd pack. Fated Infatuation is good, but I don't like it 1st pick. I personally like Crypsis in a pack like this, with Fall of the Hammer being behind it. Between the untap and the protection from creatures, it has won me a few games easily.
Ick. Crypsis is okay, but it's nowhere near a first-pick quality card...untap + indestructible or unblockable is not all that strong. I would not be surprised to see it wheel.
I can see where you're coming from on the Crypsis idea, I'm just underwhelmed by Aerie Worshippers since it lacks evasion to make the Inspired reliable. Go with Fall of the Hammer then?
To clarify my concerns about Aerie Worshippers more and Inspired in general.
BTT is combat trick central. Not every deck will have one up at all times, sure. If we had Springleaf Drum/Oracle's Insight I wouldn't be as worried because we would have a non-combat method of tapping the creature without much risk. Inspired is something I like more in BBT than BTT to be honest since there are better enablers in BNG.
Also, I agree that red is always trouble to start in. Finally, Crypsis nullifying Fall of the Hammer is the reason I would take one over the other. Both spells require a creature on board to be useful, have the same timing and mana cost. It's not quite a blue Gods Willing, but it is close.
I think you're selling the worshipers short...a 2/4 body can attack into a lot of board states, and can always gum up the ground quite effectively while we send fliers over the top. When it comes down to it, Fall of the Hammer is much, much better than Crypsis, and I'd be willing to go with that. The card is great, it's red in general that I have reservations about. Let's see what our third team member has to say.
I concur on the top three cards in the pack. I would probably value the Aerie Worshipers the highest. The prospect of a Wind Drake without the need of a card is appealing to me, and there is a chance to pick up additional evasion. Additionally, four toughness is sometimes psudeo-evasion enough.
I would pick the Worshipers over Fall of the Hammer over Crypsis.
