Guildgate. Losing to mana screw while holding Isperia is a pretty classic DGR move. Besides, I'd rather ensure an Armadillo Cloak on our Mages.

Grimgrin, Corpseborn Modern: Polytokes IRL: Progenitus Polymorph , Goblins
Whether or not it worked does not validate the play. That's hindsight probability. Let's say I offered you a bet -- I'm going to flip a coin and if it's heads, I'll give you 1 dollar but if it's tails, you'll give me 2 dollars. This is obviously a terrible bet for you. Accepting it is a bad decision. You can't justify it afterwards by arguing that you won the flip, therefore you made the right decision.
My thought process as I looked down the list: Well, there's a mediocre 3-drop creature or a mediocre 3-drop removal spell, both in splash colors... the Sentry would be pretty good with cloak at least... hey a Dreg Mangler, too bad splashing into Golgari would be crazy...
what
oh.
Supreme Verdict, and I'm looking forward to our fifth-pick detention Sphere, sixth-pick Skyknight, seventh-pick Roc, et al.
Ok, so we pass a DRAGON for a crappy ETBT land, and now we end up taking a sweeper in the same colours as the dragon? Really surprised with the salvation community in this pack.
As for the ongoing discussion on the previous pick, the gate was definitely the safest option. If the gate wasn't there Isperia would've won the vote by a landslide. We have gold cards from 3 different guilds, and as was mentioned before the thread was merged, we have lots of powerful early plays that we want to rattle off with consistency. Curving 3 drops from Simic and Selesnya into WWUU is going to be very difficult. Isperia was definitely my pick though. High risk/high reward.
You have to admit, it's pretty ironic to pass up mana-fixing for a charm from a third guild, only to take mana-fixing over that Guild's leader.
@ Hammer - too bad you didn't vote for Isperia. Oh wait, you didn't vote for anything. That's a shame, if we had more like-minded individuals we might've gotten her into office.

No, don't put me down for any votes. Passing the Dragon = Draft is a train wreck, abandon ship.
I like how this guy hasn't made any posts or votes in the DGR Draft Activities until just now. Also the horrible assessment of thinking Azorius Guildgate is a crappy card to take.
Also that you're really surprised by the community for having split opinions, and not realizing that taking the sweeper here is a very correct choice.
You're completely wrong in almost every possible aspect.

Verdict has no synergy with our plan at all. None. It's just bad. And we don't really want to be splashing any more White cards than we have to.

I have posted on several different salvation forum drafts, and I have joined a few of the 'join up and draft' events with members of this site as well.
Anyway, you are misunderstanding my posts, I think the verdict is definitely correct here, I'm just stilll scratching my head over passing Isperia for a gate. Sure, gates can help fix us but we already have 2 UW lands and I hear that 6/4 flyers that provide you a win con are pretty good. What does the B in BREAD stand for again?
While I think syncopate is a good card and would respect it being picked, I see that we have almost no evasion in our deck so far (2 beetle mage and one faery, and a few trampling), so I think I'd go with the rogue's passage to be able to get there.
The biggest benefit of syncopate for our deck, which is not negligible, is that we have almost no removal, so it's one way to deal with a bomb, but we do have to both have it in hand at the right point and enough mana open to make it work. The 2nd part, admitedly from experience, is not hard to achieve, but still, sometimes, syncopates is not good enough. Rogue's passage is uncounterable and repeatedly usable to close a game.
PS: the passge biggest problem is that it produces colorless and we will end-up playing 3 colors.
Nothing really for us in this pack... I'm going to say Syncopate since I don't think our deck can handle a land that's not contributing to our mana base.
Mogis, God of Slaughter
Daxos of Meletis
And let's face it... if no one is in Azorius, Isperia might well table.
If Azorius is going around, maybe the gate tables.
