I would agree that Vizkopa Confessor is strong enough that we should hate-draft it.
However I'd also like people's input in regards to Skygames. Sure it's not something you aim to include in your pile, but it crossed my mind that it might be more useful than Hydroform. Giving a big guy some wings once a turn sounds convincing enough.
Whether or not it worked does not validate the play. That's hindsight probability. Let's say I offered you a bet -- I'm going to flip a coin and if it's heads, I'll give you 1 dollar but if it's tails, you'll give me 2 dollars. This is obviously a terrible bet for you. Accepting it is a bad decision. You can't justify it afterwards by arguing that you won the flip, therefore you made the right decision.
Definitely the Vizkopa Confessor. Not sure about Skygames. It's never ended up in a deck of mine before, but giving a beater flying on each of your turns isn't the worst.
Not very exciting pack.
I would go with Azorius Guildgate, in my experience the RtR gates are picked fast because are the ones intended for splashing, because in most of the drafts decks are GTC guilds deck with a splash.
Also Korozda Monitor, my second pick here, is all but special or crucial and we have chance to see more than one later on.

I like the Lantern. Apart from our few high-end spells that will appreciate the ramp, we also have Squad, Mages, Plasm Capture, etc which demand specific mana repeatedly. Gate's great, but I'd hate to miss out on t4-5 Mage activation + Pit Fight due to 1 forest, etc. Plus it makes Disciple a lot better.

My helpy helpdesk of helpfulness.
My Decks: EDH: Sygg, River Cutthroat , Road to Scion
Grimgrin, Corpseborn Modern: Polytokes IRL: Progenitus Polymorph , Goblins
Cancel - Our deck has better things to do on turn two than cast Gatecreeper Vine and although we're not in a perfect position to be keeping 1UU up we don't have removal to rely on so Cancel has an important role to play.

I think Azorius Charm is the better choice here, it acts as removal, can help us out if we're low and life and makes our creatures more useful, and a cantrip's never bad either. Not only that, but it's a lot more likely we'll have the mana for it than Cancel which would more often than not be too much of a strain when we be it.
I think it's time to abandon the plan of being Simic with a white splash and just move into 3 color. We're pretty low on playables overall, and Pit Fight is the only form of removal we have, so I say Azorius Charm.
I really wanted the Vine at first, but there's a chance that we'll see another later in this pack since we got fed plenty of green in pack 1. The Charm is a much-needed source of removal.
We're aiming for a two colour (or nearly two colour) deck here. Azorius Charm is weak for us because it's got White in the cost.

I wouldn't fault anyone for taking another Azorius Guildgate either. I was actually flip-flopping between Isperia and the gate before I threw caution to the wind.
Wow so when it comes to the later picks where there's almost never important cards to decide between, it takes a long time to get an update. But when we get to early picks that really matter and are actually worth discussing, let's give that TEN HOURS.
I never even got the chance to cast a vote for Gatecreeper Vine (it might not have mattered anyway) but it was worth debating. It would have been great to take a color fixer that works well with Species Gorger, as opposed to an Azorius Charm, which while it may be good, isn't as important as getting an on-curve color fixer IMO. And at least two people were torn between the vine and Cancel / Azorius Charm.
As for this pick, you all know Azorius Guildgate is my vote. Isperia would be nice, but it's very color-intensive and we have a decent amount of powerful mid-late plays as is.

To be honest, I think we had a far superior deck at this point in our draft, and we lost out first round.
As such, while I would hate to pass on an Azorius Charm, I think bateleur is very correct. Gatecreeper Vine or Cancel is the pick here.
