That can't be right at all. There have to be at least 30ish cards better than supreme verdict, and in Rotisserie everyone knows you have it.
I would go with Firemane Avenger.
Wrath effects are among the most powerful effects in limited formats. 4 mana wraths especially so. The drawback of this one vs Mizz Mortars is that it locks you in to two colors, but I'd personally take one of those two.

That's just not true. Why are wrath effects among the most powerful anything? They're symmetrical effects that kill all your guys as well. Those style of effects are pretty good game one when you can bait your opponent into overextending, but once he's seen a g1 wrath, the card is decent to poor after that. Also, in this format, everyone at the table sees you taking supreme verdict, so it will be played around in every single game you play in this tournament.
Wraths are way, way worse than any bomb creature, and with second pick we have our pick of those with pontiff of blight, firemane avenger, ghost council...all available.
Mortars is different because it's a plague wind effect - that's totally different from a wrath effect. I could see taking mortars here for sure.
I don't think we should be arguing what the second best card in DGR is. We should try to figure out what guild(s) we want to be in. Then we should try to send the strongest signal as fast as we can.
Since we know the whole pool, we can figure out our most desirable set of 23 (within reason). We can then spend our picks building that.
Now, I'm not sure what that set of cards is, but I think that's where the discussion should go.
In a rotisserie draft, do you draft all the cards or just 23? I'm going to assume all of them.
I think I'd like to start in Izzet or maybe RUG. I want guilds that are able to pivot around the metagame clock in reaction to what I think my opponent is aiming for. So I will avoid Rakdos and Boros because they are too focused on aggression. I like the strategic range of Izzet and Simic.
Gives you an out to almost every bomb in the set and leaves you open to either a control deck or rakdos aggro. I guess mortars does the same though.

Some facts of magic:
-Terror is an emotion which, when experienced, results in death.
-The pox was a disease notorious for having killed one-third, rounded up, of Europe’s population. Smallpox, on the other hand, killed only a single person.
-A person riding a horse cannot be stopped by foot soldiers, large animals, walls, archers, or even catapults.
In Rotisserie there's a very low density of cards capable of removing it. It's certainly slow, but I'm guessing the format as a whole would be slow enough for it to trump most things.
(If Assemble is indeed too slow then my choice would be Teleportal.)
I don't like Mortars as a pick. It's hugely powerful in theory, but Red's a weak control colour in DGR and you're only going to draw the Mortars slightly over one game in three.

You really just need to embrace the rage. I keep a small colony of hamsters next to my computer and every time I lose a match to mana screw I throw one against the wall.

I am a fan of this logic. I'm thinking a deck with more colors will be best in this format, and there is plentiful 3 drop acceleration. Assemble gives up a great finisher and speed bumb that a control deck wants and we can cast it on turn 4 pretty regularly if we want to.
It's between Assemble and Cyclonic Rift for me. Rift intrigues me thanks to its versatility, its ability to turn or win games and that I'm only committing to a single colour.
Haha, yeah, do we get to keep the cards? Sphinx's revelation, easy.
It could be fun to aim for a wrath/ramp build that tries to win with Borby / Enter the Infinite / Sphinx of Chimes / Psychic Spiral. Then revelation is a real first pick, and you can aim for mortars, merciless eviction, cyclonic rift, supreme verdict, Aetherize, and others on the wheel. Gotta pick up Urban Evolution and all those cluestones too!

The last four or five times I have cast assemble I've lost. I'm not that enamored with the card anymore.
The card is honestly kind of slow for the format at this point. There's a decent amount of enchantment removal, as well as cards like beetleform mage that just don't care if you're making a horde of tokens.

You are aware that rotisserie is very different from "the format," right?

But that includes at least 1 ton of bombs which don't die to Mortars.
