Good
-More than enough playables and your often cutting quite a few cards
-Best Core Set
-Many colors combinations are viable and have strong synergies and each color is strong
-More reliant on synergy drafting then bombs
-Lots of removal to deal with bombs
Bad
-The set is worth nothing whereas AVR had tons of $6+ rares
-Its a Core Set
-Synergies are stupid powerful where you can lose superfast exalted, mill, ramp to Roaring with Thragtusk or Acidic, Unblockable Hexproof 5/3 etc.
-Annoying high power level uncommons like Rancor and Sleep.
-Boring combat step whereas Soulbound was interesting.
I'm having fun durdling around in M12 so far, though obviously like everyone else I haven't drafted a ton yet. Any format where Divination or the equivalent isn't a bad card is a format that I'm happy to play, and we haven't seen one of those in more than a year (NMS). It's a nice change, and it'll certainly have more longevity than AVR for me.
I've drafted Mirage to current sets extensively. With the exceptions of Kama and OG Mirrodin blocks. Which i only drafted once or twice.
These are like your opinions man. This core set sucks compared to M11 and 12 IMO.
How about sets that are legit terrible in every single possible way, like Cold Snap. There are even core sets that were almost completely untested by anyone competent in limited, like 8th and 9th.
If you were paying attention, you'd note that M13 doesn't have the massive problem that plagues every 'horrible' limited format, including Kamigawa and AVR. And it's what really makes the format enjoyable for people to play.
Kamigawa wasn't a horrible limited format. It was actually really good, for the first two sets. Spirits gave rise to tons of interesting deckbuilding options, and ninjas in Betrayers made combat into a totally new experience that was actually really refreshing. Don't mistake the block's awfulness in constructed for awfulness everywhere.
Urza block constructed was really bad, though. And Mercadian Masques. And 7th. Actually probably anything before Legions (with the exception of Invasion) is pretty bad compared to anything since, unless you're wearing extremely rose-tinted glasses.
My least favorite sets to draft have been Shadowmoor block and AVR block, by a long shot. There have been lots of sets I haven't been really thrilled with, but those have been the only two I've actively gone out of my way to avoid playing. I haven't drafted M13 yet, but there seems to be some nice niche archetypes and I'm interested to try testing them out. I really anticipate this format to be pretty deep, compared to any previous core set, given my experience at the prerelease.
Wit's End is the PERFECT answer to your opponent's Monomania however.
Just hold on to your Wit's End when they Monomania, so you can Wit's End them on your next turn!!!
I think this is fairly reminiscent of the "Jace Battles" we have seen in past standards.. My guess is we will soon witness the great Monomania-Wit's End battles.

I don't really count core sets between 6-10th. I also kinda like Cold Snap. Even if you don't like it is something different. M13 on the other hand is like MXX but worse.

No, M13 has tons of problems(including "lack of playables") most limited set do, figuring out how to overcome the "problems" is part of the fun. I don't mind drafting a set with "problems" so long as it feels fresh or solutions to the "problems" exist. For example people cry about the "lack of playables in AVR" when the should be getting better at reading signals, passing a better card in a 2nd or 3rd color for a solid one in the color your in, figuring out which "unplayables" are actually perfectly reasonable filler cards. Solutions to M13 problems like exalted leading "no blocks".MU isn't really something you can solve and all in all it just feels really stale.

The same can be applied to you and M13. Of course it's not Rise of the Eldrazi, but it's much better than what we have right now. It doesn't have the "win out of nowhere" bull**** that plagues AVR. And there's nothing like a 'no block' scenario like turn 2 wandering wolf, turn 3 miracle blessings of nature. I don't even have to go into the issues with card quality here, as anyone with who knows that it's poorly done. If you think the format is fine despite this, I can't help you.
People like M13 because they'd like to get out of the hell that is AVR. Of course it's gonna get repetitive, IT'S CORE . Worst limited set ever? Not even close.
M13 is weird. My first impression of 'not-enough-green-fat' was confirmed, making all those 3/3's even more relevant than I expected. White is still OP though, with exalted flyers and O-Rings.

See. This is just factually inaccurate. Miracles don't plague the AVR format. Heck your unlucky if you get 1 per draft actually cast for the miracle cost when cost is relevant in an 8 man pod. In the 50 or so AVR 8 mans i did i got blow out by a miracle once and i blew someone out once. That is like 1-2% of the games. Your statement is just ridiculous. As for the "Bad card quality in AVR" see my above statement and learn to draft better. Stop blaming your losses on the format, man up and own your mistakes. Bad card quality isn't a problem for me and it should be for you either. Because your opponents are playing with the same "Bad card quality".
As for the "no blocks" in m13. Have you play against the exalted deck? You can't block because they have 2 and 3 stacks of exalted they can't block because exalted guys are small. It is the same complaint as Zen with Landfall durdles/allies or AVR with the trusty forcemage+trusty forcemage ect. but for some reason that complaint isn't valid about m13.

I honestly don't know what to say about this set so far. I had three solid seal decks and get wrecked. Tonight I go full ****** with my two draft decks and go 4-0-2. First deck was 4 color heavy on Green and Bolas. No gem, but decent fetch otherwise and just wrecked people. Had a very average B/G/R deck an once again destroy first two and draw for first again.
The colors seem fairly balanced imo. White and Blue seem more of splash colors, but work very well and the other three seem very solid. Green can power out anything and enable crazy color combos. Not to shabby on creatures, but probably not the best ones though. There is only a few goblins but they can be very effective, and some great spells and solid beaters make Red fun. Black is just nuts. Nice array of creatures and some killer spells. Murder and Rise form the Grave creates back breaking plays. Most of the common and uncommons are playable with the exception of the Zombies, but Walking Corpse is awful.

Well, considering there are only 4 common exalted cards in the set, it's not the easiest thing in the world to get 3 stacks of exalted on anything unless your opponent is basically just rolling over, or you drafted the absolute nuts. Soulbond was definitely more of a game-changer in AVR than Exalted will ever be.
Wit's End is the PERFECT answer to your opponent's Monomania however.

Every person I know thinks Coldsnap was a very good limited set. These are not scubs either, but competitive tour players good at limited. Triple Champions is also thought to be a fine limited environment. Not sure who or where you are playing.
Draftin M13 is just like the last few core sets we have had. It isnt horrible but its aggro based. A lot of combat tricks and ample removal.

While the bold part is true. Really only 1 Common, 1 uncommon and 1 rare soulbond made guys had the potential to create the "no blocks" game. That is less then the number of exalted guys in M13. Not to mention the m13 guys are later picks and tend to end up in the same deck more often. It really isn't that uncommon for a deck to have 8-10 exalted guys.
Plus soulbound is just more interesting to play with.

Did one paper draft, and it was pretty fun. However, there are literally 2 cards worth opening a pack for me in the entire set (mutilate, Liliana) so not worth investing more money. I will do a few release drafts online, but maybe 10 max and I am done.
I had G/W spiders and I went 2-1 in Swiss. The new mwonvuli beast tracker was really solid with spiders, and of course silklash spider was great. I had 1 Rancor but it was only mediocre; not sure what all the fuss is for that card.
This thread feels like everyone is either unsure or likes it and Commons who hates it.
I think M13 is getting a boost because people hated AVR so much. The bar was lowered. The biggest difference between them is that AVR had an unbalanced color wheel -- Black was noticeably underpowered. I think the reason is that the designers overestimated the "Loner" mechanic in Limited. Relying on exactly one creature without many cards to protect that creature is just too risky. So that mechanic was a disaster and as a result the rest of the format become stale. Not surprisingly, Magic needs all 5 of its colors to be good. One bad color invalidates 40% of the two-color combos available.
I expected though that as a result, people would be biased to think positively about other aspects of M13 that really aren't better. Combat is still fairly basic, and some mechanics discourage blocking in general. There are still plenty of crap cards at common creating the "not enough playables" issue where you never wheel much. The removal is still slow and kind of clunky a lot of times.
I suppose my point is, this shows just how terrible it is when R&D screws up and underpowers a color for Limited. It makes the entire set boring and magnifies its other shortcomings.
I expected though that as a result, people would be biased to think positively about other aspects of M13 that really aren't better.
Better than what? AVR? Basically all the things you mention are things that M13 does do better than AVR. Combat is less trivially simple, there are more playables, the removal is much better.
Sure, if you're comparing the set to something great, then yeah, it doesn't hold up very well, but it doesn't need to be great to be good. M12 and M11 were both fairly popular draft environments on these boards, despite the occasional complaints about simplicity, and M13 is certainly no worse than those were. You're presuming bias when a perfectly reasonable conclusion is just that the format is more well-done, and I don't really understand why.
Wit's End is the PERFECT answer to your opponent's Monomania however.

M13 is a fine set for limited. It's got a fair amount of playables and bomb rares. What makes it so much better than AVR is that it actually has removal, and not just in black. Removal is important for keeping creatures in check. What made Silverheart so insane is that there was almost no way to stop him unless you had a bigfer creature, which was highly unlikely. M13 has stuff like Murder, Divine Verdict and O Ring to deal with powerful threats like that. I mean, it's a core set, limited isn't going to be triple INN quality, but overall its decent and much better than Avacyn.
This set is Core Set +. It's a little more deep than M11/M12, without the stupidity of bloodthirst. But it's still ultimately core set. We'll only draft it for a while, get sick of it after a couple of months, and get really really hype for the next set. It's never really bad, but nothing truly memorable.
Agree with this. This format is quite objectively good - a rather high number of playables, removal is at a good balance (or at least a decent compromise given that Wizards seems to want to make draft environments removal-light for whatever reason), the colours are balanced and combat is interactive and fair.
Subjectively though, the set lacks flavour. Avacyn restored will be remembered, albeit not fondly. Everyone loved Innistrad and Rav block, and spirits, ninjas and soulshift defined Kamigawa block. Rize of the Eldrazi was both the most unique and the most enjoyable draft format since I started playing. M13, though? Maybe it will change later when people have played the format more, but it seems to have very little flavour at all. Even M12 had flavour - it was just not pulled off entirely well.
Better than what? AVR? Basically all the things you mention are things that M13 does do better than AVR. Combat is less trivially simple, there are more playables, the removal is much better.
Can't say i agree with this. Combat is just much more trivial in m13 then AVR. More removal exist in m13 but not as much as you make it seem. Black actually has less removal in m13 then AVR. Removal is still lacking in both sets.
Sure, if you're comparing the set to something great, then yeah, it doesn't hold up very well, but it doesn't need to be great to be good. If you compare it to M12 you lose all interesting aspects of combat that revolve around bloodthirst. You lose the mage cycle one of the more interesting ones in limited. You lose some interesting synergies in hexproof+troll hide. You lose some interesting creatures like Phantsmal dragon and goblin tunneler. You lose interesting yet straight forward "deathmark" cycle. You have solid filler cards like coral merfolk replaced by unplayable 1/1's that are only in the set because of their name. No really, that is the reason. You lose many powerful uncommons that could compete with the cards in the rare slot like fireball, mind control, and overrun. So now you wiff on opening a sweet card more often. The set has less removal then m12 Sorin's thirst, shock and aether adept don't have replacement.
I mean at least AVR was something new. M13= bad version of M12.

Commons, go play some M13 drafts before hating on everything 'thats not there anymore' without even looking for a replacement. Conservatism + prejudice is what kills the country.
What makes you think i haven't drafted the set? Because i have 7 times... it sucks. Also, LOL at the bold part, you trolling? Because that seems kinda off topic and divisive.

No, it seems like it makes sense given your comments where you wished that nothing changed from m12 to m13. Large portions of the cycles that no longer exist have been replaced (eg, mages, deathmark, etc.). Your desire to maintain the status quo = conservatism.
