I'll have six packs on Saturday. Minimum. This is the number to beat, people, and I will know if you're just making them up.

Are you looking for full print run information, or just sample packs you can use? I should be able to do the common print runs on Friday if there is any interest, but the last time I posted them no one actually cared.

Pack contents for mock drafts on the forum.

I don't remember any in-depth print run info being posted for SoM block. Prints runs been all screwy since Zendikar.

I was able to figure out one of the M12 common runs fairly easily from the data in the draftcap forum and I doubt the other 3 would have been much harder. (http://forums.mtgsalvation.com/showthread.php?t=356750) The information is quite useful for drafting (especially online, since you don't have to memorize anything), as you can often be fairly certain what was picked.

M12 is core. I dunno if there's any difference in the manufacturing.

I posted the MBS ones, got 1 response. Stopped figuring them out since no one wants them. Yes, it's a lot harder to actualy use them in a draft since the change (which happened at Shards, btw), but with the full lists you could create all the real packs you need (at common anyway; as far as I can tell, the uncommon runs are impossible to figure at this time. Three at random should be a reasonable approximation though)

I've been around long enough to see what print runs people care about, and by and large the only ones that generate interest are the October large set runs. I suspect this is just because far more packs of the October set are opened so people care more about the small edge in each pack that knowing the print runs that it gives.

I guess the other thing is that unless the print run tells you something interesting there's just no point in indepth analysis. Most of the print runs will have a couple of easy ones that everybody picks up on (volt charge/grim affliction, looter/doomblade) and some others that only a few people will bother to learn (chasm drake/greater basilisk/bonebreaker giant, for example). So I suspect if the print run doesn't tell you something interesting and not necessarily obvious (like the fact that in Time Spiral the #2 and #3 commons in the best color are in the same run separated by one card) then people will browse it, get bored by the giant wall of text and move on.

Being able to pull multiple rares/mythics in one pack is sure to make things a little screwy.

From what I could tell, the doublesided card in a pack replaces a common/basic land no matter what rarity the double sided card is. In one of my sealed, after opening the first 3 packs, I had 5 rares and a mythic (no foils) I'm told its possible to open up to 3 mythics in a pack (foil, double sided and regular)

You can also have 4/5 uncommons in a pack if you get a foil one as well as a doublesided one. Certainly makes it harder to tell if people are slipping extra cards in their sealed pools, lol.

I disagree. I think the reason the large set runs were the most interesting was because this knowledge is used to get signals. The most important signal would be "what did my right first pick?". With the new drafting system, we now need to figure runs for every set, since the new set determines the answer to that question.

ok, I'll see what I can come up with. Hopefully some regulars are opening boxes at the shop on Friday.

EDIT: shop sucks. Opened stuff before I got there and didn't tell me... still hope someone buys and cracks some boxes, but it's looking less likely.

So. Managed to get 2.5 boxes. 2 runs done 100%, 3rd needs one more link to finish. The fourth, however, is a nightmare. The missing common is a lot more relevant than I expected. I'll be editing in what I have tonight, but I think this last run needs a lot more packs to finish =(

Can you explain what "links" are? Also, do the different runs always appear in a pack in the given order, or might one pack have a few As, then some C1s, then some Bs, and another have C2s, then As, then Bs?

I'll try to write down the next few packs I open if that would still be useful.

Sorry, I had kinda given up on this thread...

"Link" is the term I use for three cards in a row from any given run. That's how many cards you need to see to be useful, since each run repeats cards. Two cards together can be used after you definitively place the other copy(s), but to get started you need three.

The runs should always appear in order in the pack. A is what you see when you first open, then B, then one of the Cs, then uncommons, then rare (1 exception, some packs have no cards from B). Unfortunately, if what burek said above is right, packs from different parts of the world, even if they're the same language, are printed on very different sheet layouts. So they have completely different runs. All the data I have are from English packs opened in the US.

More packs will still be useful, although if you're in the States too, I only need the run B info. For European (and Asian?) packs, I would need everything, and a lot of it.

I'll be perfectly honest... I haven't got a clue exactly what you're taking data for, or the exact application you're looking to get out of it (my best guess is that you're learning which cards are put in boosters together in "links" and figuring out what was taken by what's missing? But that seems like a lot of memorization, so maybe I'm way off...), but if someone would kindly explain the concept to me I'll be happy to contribute with any packs I open.

Does modo use the North American print runs or it's own list ?

Hey I know this thread has dropped dead, but I've always been interested in determining print runs of commons and uncommons. Mostly because if you can deduce the print runs and the run usages, you can create your own "packs" to draft with, only needing a pile of commons, some uncommons, and about 1 of each rare.

The reason I bring this up and post in what looks like a dead thread is that I'm liking INN more and more as a draft format, and I'm looking to deduce the common print run info.

It should be possible to finish the ISD runs now with all the data from the draftcap subforum. IIRC MTGO shuffles packs now, which makes it harder but not impossible to find the links which we need to complete the last run.

Do you know what to do?
