This is a draft excercise, where people can vote on this particular player's next pick in the draft. Scroll down to the latest post to see the current choices.
This excercise has concluded. If you are interested in how this player's pool turned out, go to the end of the thread, and maybe try your hand at building the deck.
No bombs, but one solid removal in Clutches. Reserve it for an opponent's bomb. Taking it also cuts down blue nicely, so if we keep taking blue, we are almost guaranteed to get passed good stuff in pack two.
What a weak pack. I'm actually thinking about taking the Excavator to try and go for a mill deck. But mill really only has three cards in the set, one at common and two a uncommon, plus as a 1/3 otherwise vanilla creature, it's likely to wheel. With the historic interactions in the set, I'll go with the Glider, at least that's a useful evasive creature. Really, I don't think we lose anything here.
I'm not seeing a direction for this deck yet, so it comes down to two choices for me: take the rare or take the removal. The Oath may have its uses, like in conjunction with the Clutches (blink the aura to grab something more powerful), but let's take the more general power. Intervention is splashable removal, so it is very likely to make the deck, whatever it may turn out to be.
Still no clear indication as to which color to play. White, blue, red, and green are all still well represented in the pack. The cards, that likely have the most impact on their own are Raider, Baird, maybe the Snapper. Plus, there's the land. I simply can't decide and I taken way too much time pondering, so I'll go with what I would have picked in a real draft: the rare, Clifftop Retreat. If we end up in white, it allows us an easier splash of the Intervention at least.
This deck needs some creatures. Teshar at least has flying, but I think the Sentinel is the better choice, since it can act as removal due to flash and potentially save another creature or reassign the Clutches.
If you are already reading this, why not pick a card and vote? The point of this excercise is to have people collectively choose the next pick after all. You don't have to explain your choice, that is optional.

Not to keen on the Assistant, because this deck has little in regards to historic so far. I'd rather take the Chapel for more potential color fixing and splashing.

The Excavator made it around, but this deck still has only two historic cards. To get the mill going, we'd have to heavily dive in on that in the next two packs. I don't see that happening. With the milling route closed, I agree, the Journeymage is the right pick.

Seismic Shift, keeping two creatures from blocking against our creature light deck could be troublesome. But I'm not playing the Sage with our severe lack of artifacts.

We are bue, but I don't see much of a strategy for the deck yet except that it probaly aims for a long game. A second color is also not yet decided. I'd take the Sylvan Awakening, because that can end the game very unexpectedly with a land creature rush in the late game.
