Ouch, nothing worth grabbing in blue and only Dragon Mantle in red. I love Dragon Mantle and I'd be happy to take it if people want to stick with blue/red. There are a few nice green cards here though...
I'll be honest, I really like Dragon Mantle, but I don't think it does that much for this deck. We're midrangy Ur(maybe g) with a bomb, mismatched utility cards, and no heroic. Cantrip firebreathing doesn't add anything to that strategy, so I'll take the upside pick of Fabled Hero, with the bonus of not losing horribly to it on turn 4. It helps that we already have top-tier heroic enablers in both Blue and Red.
I'm not particularly keen on switching into it (especially with the double white), but there's always a slim possibility it gets support, and there's some real worth to hating it (it's arguably the most busted card in the set). Right now, I see little value in the Mantle in our deck unless we end up much harder red and with a lower curve than we have currently. I get that it's a sweet common in lots of decks, but for us it's fringe. If I hadn't had bad experiences playing against Hero, I'd be taking Coastline Chimera instead.
1) We have to get matched against the player who picks the Fabled Hero
2) He has to draw the Fabled Hero
3) We have to not have any answers to Fabled Hero
Hatedrafting the Fabled Hero when there is a playable card in our colors is not correct.
The correct choice here is to take the Dragon Mantle. Sure, we'd love to see an on-color Emissary or Vaporkin or something in here, but I'm never passing a card that's 100% to make my maindeck for a card that's 100% to not make my maindeck.

I'm not sure that dragon mantle is going to make a slow as a hell three color deck. Fabled hero certainly isn't, but the deck as it stands justs folds to it. I'm not voting for the forum draft, but I'd probably take the hero in real life, even though it is logically the wrong pick.

What makes you think this is a three-color deck? We're shaping up to be solidly UR. We also have two more packs to pick up loads of answers to all sorts of heroes. Taking the hero is willingly giving up something for nothing.

Kind of a drag of a pack for us, but the chances we can support double-white are vanishingly close to nil and taking the Emissary is a good way to end up being forced to splash when we really don't want to.

Personally, I see just as many green cards that I want in a deck (wolf, mortal's resolve) as red (hammer, butcher). We have a lot of red cards, but they're mostly filler. Not what I'd consider "solidly" RU (yet).

Hammer is significantly better than Resolve, and I personally think Butcher is better than Wolf as well (but it's arguable). And then on top of that we have Stormcaller (which is nuts), and both of our Cyclops are 100% playable (not super exciting, but definitely maindeckable).

I agree that the red cards are superior, though I am not sold on the stormcaller. The Cyclopses are fine, but filler - 4cc 5/2s aren't going to win a draft, and dragon mantle isn't going to solve their deficiencies.
I just think that in the coming picks, there won't be enough good red cards alone to build a competitive deck.

Red seemed absurdly open in BNG - we routinely saw 2-3 red playable cards as far down as picks 7-8. I have no reason to think it won't be open at least in pack 3. Our best red cards are better than our best green cards. We have many more red playables than green playables. I'm not sure what the argument is for being in green at this point. Nylea's Emissary is a bit stronger than dragon mantle, but not to the point where I'm going to effectively force myself into the slow 3-color deck that people are worried about to play it.
Sure red is the weakest color in Theros, but it's not like white-in-M14 weak - there are plenty of good cards.
Dragon Mantle is a good card in R/U and a good pick up. Nylea's Emissary being the 2nd best option here, but I think our blue bombs are too solid to give up on, and 3 color decks that aren't base-green are usually quite bad.
I'd rather take the Nylea's Emissary here as a small hedge, since Dragon Mantle isn't looking fantastic at the moment and there's a decent chance it wheels out of this pack anyway.
I'll pick a fight over white in pack two if it means I get to play this card and have a chance to give my opponent's a real beating. This card is ridiculous and easily wins on it's own which is usually tough for a three drop. I'll pair this up with our blue and make a white/blue deck with a chance to run people over.
