Since Born of the Gods prerelease was a 3/3 split between Born of the Gods and Theros booster packs, will Journey into Nyx also be a 3/3/ split between JOU and THS or will it be a 2/2/2 split?
for prereleases in the past, didn't they do 3 of the 3rd set and 3 of the 1st set, and skip the middle one altogether? I vaguely recall that happening with new phyrexia (the most recent "normal" block)
The standard has been a 3/3 split with the large block (i.e. 3 Theros, 2 regular JOU, 1 seeded).
Considering this is what they did just now for BNG, I see little reason to think it'll be anything else for the next one.
They do 3/3 splits because small sets tend not to play very well by themselves. They don't do 2/2/2 splits because the point of a prerelease is to get more exposure for the new set.
Wit's End is the PERFECT answer to your opponent's Monomania however.
Just hold on to your Wit's End when they Monomania, so you can Wit's End them on your next turn!!!
I think this is fairly reminiscent of the "Jace Battles" we have seen in past standards.. My guess is we will soon witness the great Monomania-Wit's End battles.

Makes sense. This is my first block prerelease so I was just going but what I have heard a block sealed event to be, which is normally 2/2/2.
I guess we will get 4 JOU and 1 BOG and 1 THS, becuase people want to play with the new cards at a prerelease, and they did it at the same mode at Dragon's maze
I'm designing a prerelease event poster for our local store, and the prerelease pack contains 2 Theros packs, 2 Journey Into Nyx packs, 1 Born of the Gods pack and 1 seeded booster pack.
Huh. A 2-1-3 split is...interesting. That's actually going to make the event a lot more challenging, since there'll be a bunch more things your opponents might have that you'll have to deal with. This will make it feel quite a bit more like a regular sealed event than it has for a while now.
Many thanks to spitfire and Anti for the solid information. Good to know!
Agreed that this is interesting. I'm not surprised that we'll see 3 packs of Journey (since that's what they did for New Phyrexia, and they always do at least 50% new set), but 1BNG/2THS instead of 3THS is a bit of a surprise. Have they done something like that before for a prerelease? I mean, other than Dragon's Maze, which I wouldn't count because you had to have all 3 sets in order to support all 10 guilds.
My guess is that the seeded pack might have some Theros cards in it as well. So it is more like 2.5,1,2.5. Sounds great to me as I have plenty of Theros and want to minimize Born of the Gods packs I open.

I would be surprised if it did frankly. The point of the prerelease is to let us play with a bunch of the new cards...
