Signalling is like farting: it's a natural thing that helps people avoid being where you are, and if you try to do it deliberately, things turn to crap fast.

I hereby found the American Chapter of the Zealots of Semantics. All glory to The Curmudgeon.
Shrivel = Plague Wind.
I'm the player on top. Replays these days are really bad.
(also, I thought I was stone cold dead in this game and match - this was game 2 and I was 0-1 down - until I drew the Shrivel I had forgotten I had boarded in. I'm a genius. Ended up winning 2-1)
Down 0-1 in G2, I was down to around 6 life with two 3/3 canyon minotaurs out. My opponent has a two other creatures, and a sengir vampire, which I can't deal with. So I pass the turn for what will likely be the second last time, barring a single Wild ricochet in hand. During my end step, I snag my opponent's chandra's outrage, killing his sengir and another creature, and proceed to win.
4 packs sealed, I'm playing Grixis vs Junk. His deck is aggro, with plenty of 1-2-3 drops of quality (i.e. with extort on top), while my deck has a palsy 6 creatures total, but plenty of removal. Every games, he gets my down to 4-6 life... he's got two 1/1 out (black denizen and some white dude) and I have his 3/5 commando under soul ransom. Tired of waiting to draw more gas, he goes to get his commando back while I got only one land untapped...
Unfortunately, I was baiting him by almost tapping out... I had the rapid hybridization in hand... he discards two cards, I draw two cards, kill his dude and get a 3/3 body... all that for single mana. Cruel ultimatum was whimping in a ball in the corner. I untapped, milled him for one with that artifact (don't ask me its name), toil'ed him for two and he lost to drawing from an empty library. (Yep, I did that in reverse and risked him having a kill card in his upkeep... though that seemed unlikely.)
Wanted to pass this along, because it shows how good new players can be.
My best friend just got into Magic, and had his very first draft (casual). He drafted UR in M14 because that's what he's comfortable with.
So, anyway, he's playing a much more experienced player, and is beating down with a huge creature. (Probably a creature with Lightning Talons on it.) His opponent plays Claustrophobia on it.
My friend untaps, draws, and asks, "That card, Claustrophobia. It doesn't stop untapping; just untapping in the untap step, right?" His opponent replies, "... yes?" Then my friend goes, "Act of Treason my Claustrophobic creature" and swings for lethal.
His opponent was speechless. I was very proud of my friend.
had a pretty nuts UG sealed deck (2 water servants, 2 rumbling baloths, 2 trained condors, 2 beast advocates, Kalonian Tusker, Jace, Opportunity) whose one achilles heel was lack of on-board removal or interaction (only had counterspells and a splashed FotF.) played an RG deck pilot who liked putting trollhide and fireshrieker on red intimidate creatures. won G1 narrowly but got act of treasoned out G2. not a great matchup for me. that meant it was time to get creative in the board...
was threatening lethal next turn with him at 8 vs. me at 13 and a Trained Condor with Water Servant (they had just attacked him down from 16) and 3 islands (tapped) + 3 forests (untapped) on my side of the board, vs. his trollhided Academy Raider with an extra counter on it (5/5 intimidate in total) along with a 2/1 and a 2/3.
he plays his last card... fireshrieker. equip to raider, swing for lethal?

ah, well done. I hope that I would see that play but don't know if I would, that's a great catch for someone newer to the game.
six: That's just what I told my friend. I've been playing since Revised, and that sometimes blinds you to really interesting plays like the one I related.
Me: U/R with good filter and burn
Opp: U/B With powerful fliers
ok, so its game 3, and this is the cutting round for credit, so its pretty intense.
Im at 8, and my opponent is at 9. His board is two Warden of Evos Isle, one of which is tapped by claustrophobia, the guy that when he casts an enchantment spell, one of my guys gets -2/-2 and a Blood Bairn. I have a Pitchburn Devils. I have lands in hand and no way out of the game. I think, count my lands(10) and ask him how much he is at. He says he's at nine, and says that he hopes I don't hit a land. I attack with the devils, and he sacs a warden to stop him from going to six, because he thought I had Volcanic Geyser
I go to 4, and he passes the turn. I pass the turn He plays sensory deprivation on my devils, choosing not to give it -2/-2 and knocks my to two. I cast the Wall of Frost that I drew, and pass the turn. I hit act of treason and steal his bairn and whittle his life total down to zero.
BEST BLUFF I EVER MADE

Great point. New players read their cards, whereas we often associate them with effects. AoT is a great example, though I have used it to give one of my duders haste.

My helpy helpdesk of helpfulness.
My Decks: EDH: Sygg, River Cutthroat , Road to Scion
Grimgrin, Corpseborn Modern: Polytokes IRL: Progenitus Polymorph , Goblins
I slowed played my opening hand of Soulmender, Soulmender, Master of Diversions, Griffin Sentinel, 3 Plains tonight attempting to go for the epic blowout. It got there. Played the 3 plains and Griffin then drew into Plains, Door of Destinies, Plains, slamming Mender, Mender, Master all on turn 5. Followed by drawing Capshen Knight, Capshen Knight. Went 4-1 Mono White Humans. **** TBs only good enough for 5th but....my prize pack had Garruk and Snapcaster Mage in it.
It is game 2. My opponent is at 4 and I am at 3. He has a Cyclops Tyrant and Rod of Ruin and I have Marauding Maulhorn. At the end of my turn he pings me with the rod to 2 and then on his turn attacks with the Cyclops Tyrant. I cast Wring Flesh. He's got no answer.
I'm dead to Hellkite on my opponent's next turn. I draw Instill Infection, paw through my opponent's graveyard, spot the Sylvok Replica, and start grinning like a maniac.
Instill infection killing Copper Myr, Necrotic Ooze taps for G using the myr's ability, pay G and sacrifice Necrotic Ooze using Sylvok Replica's ability to kill Hellkite.
I mean, it wasn't terribly difficult to see, but it was still pretty great.
ah, well done. I hope that I would see that play but don't know if I would, that's a great catch for someone newer to the game.
These plays are my literal favorite plays to watch someone make in magic, and when a newer player catches them, its even more impressive. A similar one that came up that my friend missed and realized afterwards was in Gatecrash which was Smiteing his own guy and extorting for the win. Magic is a great game.
My opponent attacks with the 3/3 mountainwalker and another creature, I have some large creature in play and a greater gargadon suspended with like 1 mountain in play (and some vivids) I sac my mountain and block his mountain walker (who was lethul with the other evasion creature) he says "mountainwalk" and I remind him that i no longer have any mountains in play as i block and crack back for the win.
I just won an 8-4 with a cyclops tyrant that was not only main decked but splashed 1 mountain just for him. That's worth like 6 pwned plays right?

"A scrupulous writer, in every sentence that he writes, will ask himself at least four questions, thus: 1. What am I trying to say? 2. What words will express it? 3. What image or idiom will make it clearer? 4. Is this image fresh enough to have an effect? And he will probably ask himself two more: 1. Could I put it more shortly? 2. Have I said anything that is avoidably ugly?"

Me: Disperse the Embrace.
He has no good blocks, takes 5, and loses to my reassembled Maulhorn-Dragon in a couple turns.

I don't always post about Rafiq of the Many, but when I do, I cardlink to the original artwork, and not the supplementary product version.
"I trust myself to do my duty, even unto death. It's what comes after that I'm afraid of."
"Just fight without fear. Your soul is protected by the hand of Avacyn and will never submit to evil."
All I have is 7 lands and a Debt to the Deathless in hand...
There's no clever play here, but it's not every day you go up against Manaweft Sliver into Hive Stirrings into Megantic Sliver.
Another absurd situation as opposed to a pwn, but still... !!!

lol that is really tough to beat in limited
I also had two Sanguine Bonds for the one shot =)

I attack with Mindsparker, Rumbling Baloth and Pitchburn Devils (holding Volcanic Geyser, Thunder Strike and with six mana untapped) into his Master of Decoys, Striking Sliver and four untapped mana. He's at 13 life. He puts Master of Decoys in front of Mindsparker, taps a white, and casts:
Pay No Heed.
Mindsparker triggers and he takes two. Pay No Heed resolves, and he gets to choose a source. He picks...
Pay No Heed.
I felt bad.
Turn 1: Forest, Elvish Mystic.
Turn 2: Mutavault, Advocate of the Beast
Turn 3: Forest, Predatory Sliver, activate Vault, swing for 5 past his 2/1. Vault gets a counter.
Pretty nutty. He actually did manage to hang on for a close-ish game, but only because of a timely Frost Breath.
Mirrodin Besieged/Scars of Mirrodin draft, I'm playing UB (ugh) vs my RG opponent.
His board: Forests, Mountains, Copper Myr, Steel Hellkite.
My board: Islands, Swamps, Necrotic Ooze.
I'm dead to Hellkite on my opponent's next turn. I draw Instill Infection, paw through my opponent's graveyard, spot the Sylvok Replica, and start grinning like a maniac.
