I'm honestly not sure where to post this, but does anyone know where to play Legacy (preferably weekly) in Indiana?
I'm moving to Terre Haute (about an hour from Indianapolis) in about a month and am currently part of a a very healthy Legacy community that I will miss dearly (two Legacy tournaments a week with 20 - 30 players per tournament). I'm hoping my playing habits won't have to drastically decrease due to a lack of places to play.
When I search on Wizard's website, I find no places that play Legacy near Indianapolis, which I find surprising considering how many SCG tourneys the city hosts. Am I just missing something or is the Wizard's website a bad place to search for such things?
I'm going to (figuratively) kill myself if I have to start playing Modern or Standard.
sup broski, i'm originally from Indiana and let me say...Legacy is in short supply. Thought if you look really hard you can find it, but its just not there unless there is a SCG tourny in town. the only place i know of that does legacy, is a place called The Game Preserve, and even then its rarely.

So in short...get used to Standard/Modern lol.
This makes me sad :(. Thanks though.
I guess I will try to do what others on here say and "if you build it, they will come." I have enough a collection to have two Tier 1 Legacy decks built and also some other decks like Affinity and Burn. Hopefully I can get enough people interested locally.
I guess worst case I play at the Starcity Opens every few months, but I imagine I will be very rusty each tournament.
I'm currently living in Southern Indiana and have a hard time finding Legacy games. Greenwood and Terre Haute both occasionally offer it... not sure about north of Indianapolis.
It's an instant speed 5/5 trampler for 4. Wtf do you people want seriously? It has applications in populate/ above the curve beats decks, or in Bant control/ flash. I seriously think anyone mad at this card for any reason other than losing an attacker to instant speed wurm, should go home and make their own awesome card game and leave the rest of us alone.
It's been 3 years since I started promoting Legacy in my community, specifically my LGS. I have to admit there was some lonely nights during that first year but eventually it got there.
My store 3 years ago, Legacy was non-existant. These days we see 16 players on Wednesdays. I can usually find 2x 30+ player Legacy events a month.
If you build it, they will come and they will love it.

Yeah I'm kind of going off of your motivation here. It'll be depressing at first when I just give people my extra decks to play, but hopefully it pays off.
I live in Muncie, Indiana. We try to get a legacy game night off the ground the first and third sunday of the month. Players lately have been an issue but we can usually fire it at 8 people.

Looks like Muncie is about 2 hours away and since it's a Sunday I guess that would be doable (albeit not every event). What time and what store?
Saw this post was a few weeks old, hope you're still checking it and I'll throw my $0.02 in.
When it comes to Eternal formats in Indy, Modern is the biggest game in town. LGS's on all sides of town have embraced Modern and if you have the time you can play in a sanctioned event just about every day of the week. All FNM's I know of are Standard/Draft, and for someone working on getting into Legacy (me), and someone who is established in Legacy (sounds like you are), things are a bit tricky.
That being said, a store on the West side of town called Games To Die For has been running a proxy Legacy tournament series on Wednesday nights (starts at 7:00pm I think). I've played in it once (I work odd hours so I don't get the chance to play) and it's unlimited proxies so it's not sanctioned but at least it's something. It was a mix of people that knew what they were doing and people that picked a 75, sleeved up the printed proxies and went, but at least it's something. I spoke very briefly with the TO whose super into Legacy, and it was his attempt at getting people into the format. Not a bad idea if you ask me.
There's also a Meetup group for Indy area Eternal players but I've yet to see much from this. I joined a few months back after I finished my first deck and haven't heard anything since.
Long story short, I hate Standard, like Modern and would love to get into Legacy myself but there's not much interest from what I've been able to gather. If you're still interested in getting something started, I'm totally down to help. I'm sure I could speak with the owner of my LGS to try to get something started and we could go from there. If you're interested, just PM me.
P.S. Indy is also fairly centrally located for a lot of bigger tournaments like SCG and what not so worst case scenario, you're within easy striking distance of more than a few Legacy events between now and the end of the year.

That sounds great. I don't mind if it's proxy or not. I just want to play. It'll be a little trickier for me being in Terre Haute and getting there after work, but it may be doable. At a minimum I will check it out and talk with the coordinator (and yourself).
Madison itself was not the Legacy hub it is now without players paying into it. We now get 20 - 30 players TWICE a week in no-proxy sanctioned events. The community is well-knit and we borrow each others cards, etc. I'd also like to think we're relatively well versed considering one of the people I play with regularly just won SCG Minneapolis and our store has quite a few top 8's in Legacy Opens. I by no means expect this from a newer Legacy community, but I feel it is doable to "build it and they will come." Hell, I'm willing to come!

Fair enough. I only posted because I know Indy has at least three major Legacy events a year and was surprised when I did a WotC search and saw no Legacy events on a weekly or even monthly basis.
Im from Marshall (its 20 min from Terre Haute) And I found that Terre Haute has a shop called Full Moon Games. They dont do Legacy on a regular basis but they do have a group that train together for the SCG events when they come to indy. Stop by there sometime and chat. You may have luck getting somthing regular going there. Also (if you didnt already know) GenCon is next weekend and that has a large amount of legacy each day!

The sad part is I actually move the weekend of GenCon so I won't be in attendance. I'd like to think I will the following years.
With that said, yes it seems like Full Moon Games is the store in the area and hopefully I can meet up with the regulars. It sounds like (through PMs) there are Legacy events (proxy or no proxy) in both Bloomington and Indianapolis. Hopefully I can make those and maybe if enough of us carpool those non-sanctioned events become sanctioned.
I'm in Indy and I'm asking my buddy who's an L2 for you. I'll update my post here asap.
Thanks.
From what someone in the thread said earlier it sounds like "Games to Die for" has Legacy once a week, but it's proxied. After scouring Facebook I found Game Preserve in Bloomington also does Legacy, but that's once a month or something.
It sounds like there's Legacy, but it's not as organized as I'm used to, but hopefully with some work we can get a thriving Legacy community :).
So I've moved to Terre Haute and am settled and wondering if anyone in the area wanted to start playing? I was in Bloomington yesterday and walked in during an FNM at "Common Room Games" and it seemed like a few people in the area are interested.
So I've started a Wednesday Night Legacy thing at Full Moon Games in Terre Haute around 6:30 to 7:00. I think we have around 6 - 8 players and can probably start firing an actual event. Figured I'd share that here in hopes we can continue to grow it.
Hopefully as others have said "If you build it, they will come."
