I have been playing casual MTG for a while, and I have recently decided I would get into tournament play since a few events are coming up around me. I think Legacy does have some potential even though about 90 % of my decks are banned in it.
Idea #1: I was thinking of a cheap spell that could let me play creatures for free so i could try to one shot as fast as possible. e.g Recurring Nightmare
I would also need cards that could allow me to discard massive creatures.
Idea #2 this one is a little slower, and it relies on massive amounts of either 0 cost creatures or 1 mana creatures so gaea's cradle could work properly.
I think I might try to make either a green/black deck or a green/blue deck, but I could always try mono green.
I am going to try first 4 Gaea's Cradle, and a bunch of 0 cost creatures, and a way to win.
What would you recommend for a deck in Legacy assuming I have an unlimited budget.
If you're trying a deck with a bunch or all zero mana creatures with cradle sounds like cheeri0s to me where you typically glimpse of nature, cast a bunch of zero drop creatures until you can find another glimpse of nature + a green mana to cast it, draw your whole deck, and likely kill the opponent with a grapeshot via lotus petal mana since your storm count will be greater than their life total most of the time although the deck isn't consistent is the problem and pretty glass cannon-y.
Liliana and jace are the best planeswalkers in legacy. Jace isn't as good as he once was mostly due to dig through time same with liliana. Dig through time is the best card in legacy right now with virtually every deck playing some copies or a full 4 at least when it comes to blue decks/the vast majority of legacy always.
Omniscience lets you play dudes for free but to get it into play you pretty much need show and tell to resolve as academy rector is so bad in terms of manabase, creature removal like plow, and it costs 4.

"Yawgmoth," Freyalise whispered as she set the bomb, "now you will pay for your treachery."

This deck already exists, in various incarnations:
Elves works a similar way. Both rely on the fact that you need a draw engine like Glimpse of Nature in order to chain enough 1cc or 0cc creatures to really get to degenerate mana/storm.

I have 4 Jace, the Mind Sculptor, and 4 Liliana of The Veil that I figured were not that good when I played casual, but maybe in Legacy they could be worth using.
If there are any better Legacy deck strategies that are just unknown to me you can suggest any of those if you want.
The Gaea's Cradle deck is called Elves.
Jace and Lilli play together best in some sort of BUG deck, probably Shardless.

However, Gaea's Cradle is unnecessary unless you are using Beastmaster Ascension as an alternate win condition (e.g. against Leyline of Sanctity or storm hate like Flusterstorm).
