Anyways, just some thoughts regarding budget choices, a quick peek before my exams begin.
Why not decide on choices and functionality without budget first?
It might help to showcase itself as a powerful deck, then give alternatives for a budget option
The deck's quite cheap already without trying to go completely budget (unless you're trying to fight prices with mono black budget pox/LEDless Dredge/Burn =X).
Just my thoughts.

Hey there Ive been trying to build a mon black version of this deck for a while, Let me tell you that i face a lot of aggro here, so I choosed a more Aggro-control route.
Feeders, Horrors, Maws, Marauders, Terastodons, are all caried over the original lists on this thread, I removed Faceless Butcher from the MD because he is a bit slow at killing, needs a feeder or a horros to really kick off, and ultimately both Maw and marauder can handle threats decently on their own. The abyssal persecutor is a beast, kills really fast and his downside is not really felt in this deck with a lot a sacrifice outlets. The singleton Putrid Imp is a test slot, sometimes I fellt i needed a discard outlet and Zombie infestation proved so so, so I remembered the pImp, who by the way is tutorable.
As far as the spells go, I started by removing all the discard but in the end a first turn Swamp Duress is a big play, and might be even relevant VS aggro. I took out one Buried Alive cause I realised that many times It just stucked in my hand, and I just to see one in a game. Now, the Dark Rituals, I know they are not very recomended, but, in goldish at least, they were never a dead draw. This deck is very mana hungry, and the Ritual fueles some hard plays early game and multiple ones in the mid to late game.
I have a rough idea of how the Sideboard will look like:
4_Faerie macabre
4_Hymn to Tourach
1_Duress
1_Mesmeric Fiend
1_Flesh Reaver
2_Nevinyrral´s Disk
2_Faceless Butcher
The Macabres need no explanation. The Hymns, Duress and Fiend, are there for combo-control, The Flech Reaver is for an extra nice clock vs them In case I have to take out all the creature control G2. The Disk is a general answer and another aggro hamper And the butcher is there cause in some cases he is really good (marit lage) and creatures that are maw-proof and far away from marauder range.
I know this is a long post so I better leave it for now.
Good luck to you all.
I recently played in a tournament playing a green splash (decklist will be edited in later), and it reaffirmed my prior fears about this deck; it dies hard to red. So naturally, all three of my matchups were against red decks.
Rifter
Humility slows you down a lot. It shuts down all of your CIP abilities, which really shuts you down. It's not impossible to play through, but it can be obnoxious. Game one took 35 minutes (mostly due to my stalling my ass off with TE + two Brownscales). The game ultimately ended once I was unable to deal with his Ajani Vengeant and he wiped my lands away.
Bauble Burn (8 fetches + 1 Taiga for Kgrip in the board)
It's fairly easy to catch them off guard game 1 with Brownscale tricks. The difficulty set in on games 2 and 3, where both Krosan Grip and Crypt/Relic was brought in. Game 2 was sporting, game 3 was "Turn one: Mountain, Relic, Crypt, go". Not very pleasant.
Goblins
Fast aggro, as stated before, is unpleasant. Even with Shriekmaw + TE, I was unable to pull through. Goblin Chieftain has made the matchup even less pleasant, as it both offers good pump and haste, which makes things quite difficult for us to deal with. Infest is a good call, and seeing them will help even more
With any luck, I'll get a chance to play again, and maybe against some non-red decks. Either way, I'll give a bit of a post here again once I do.
I brought this up on the source too, but what are Salvation's thoughts on Pathrazer vs. It that Betrays
I'm personally using It. It's a little bit bigger, plus, even if they just sacrifice two lands, that's two more that you can use to abuse our own goodies. It also effects how they can use Fetchlands, Wasteland, and other miscellaneous goodies. The problem being that it costs a little more, although it's not too likely that you'll be casting it anyway

Btw, what's rifter? Never seen or head that deck before, surely not RW slide?

Rifter is W/r slide......but it would have a good matchup against this deck because they are both board countrol decks, but rifter can handle your permanents, you can't handle theres (other then acidic slime which they can Stp )
I think this deck needs to go into a compltyl different direction if it is going to have any hope.
Can have plays like:
Rit, buried alive for 3 ghasts
next turn fetch land, have a bunch of guys, play a therapy twice, crack a fetch, get your saced guy back. (therapy again if your god)
t2 shriek maw
t3 buried alive
t4 hymn and oversold cemitary
t5 start abusing cemitary
I think its faster and has more disruption and a better engine.
I'm going to be blunt. Between swim practices and work, I've had neither the time nor the energy for magic, paper or otherwise. This will continue until Sunday, August 1st, in which my swim season ends and I get free time.
As for M11 gems, I do like Viscera Seer. The fact that it can block can help in the more aggressive matchups. It also digs, and card selection can be a bit of an issue. I'm certainly going to try this out. I also have a bit of a crush on Grave Titan. I'm sure you can use your imagination as to why
Testing and more legitimate thought to continue in 19 days.
Have you heard of Bitter Ordeal? I have a deck similar to yours and I've been dying to try that card.
Why bitter ordeal? Indeed we cycle the cards into gy and back but I doubt it's worth the effort to create the count for gravestorm. But what MU do you use ordeal against?

Has anyone tried the card Plunge Into Darkness? I want to test with it. It seems like it can be very good when paired with Zombie Infestation. I can't see this deck running without Zombie Infestation, honestly. It's just soooo slow. Zombie Infestation gives a way to stall for a while so you can get your control up and running. I would like to see some of the latest deck lists that people are testing. I haven't done enough testing to warrant a real opinion.

I haven't actually tried the card yet, sorry for the misunderstanding. I was wondering if you guys had any success with it since i'm dying to try it in my deck.
Have you heard of Bitter Ordeal? I have a deck similar to yours and I've been dying to try that card.
Bitter Ordeal doesn't work as well as we'd like. Gravestorm only works for permanents going to the graveyard. Cycling through cards with Tortured Existence puts creature cards into the graveyard. The difference here is that it's only considered a permanent while it's in play (on the battlefield); anywhere else, they're permanent cards.
In short, with six mana, tortured existence in play, one creature in hand and one in the graveyard, you could TE back and forth all day long, but unless they're moving from the battlefield, your Bitter Ordeal will only get the original spell - no copies from gravestorm.
I need to get into legacy as I currently have no format to play in and WoTC don't seem to want to announce overextended because they are too busy laughing manically at all the extended players from their massive doom fortress and cannot afford to make a deck with anything more than one single colour, and seeing as my friend who was in a similar situation was going to make death and taxes this seems the most interesting other deck available.
However I have a few questions:
1. are the bayous really needed for a green splash? I understand the catacombs feed the stalkers and all but the green mana does nothing but allow you to cast brownscales.
2. How competitive is this? I understand after trying it for a few games on MWS how complicated the deck is to pilot properly however if you can pilot it correctly would you be able to do well in legacy events?
thanks.
If the only green cards you're running are Terastodon and Golgari Brownscale, don't worry about Bayou or Verdant Catacombs, all you need is Swamps. Those are for sideboard tech like Krosan Grip and Back to Nature (you should change that one in your OP by the way Mr. poppele, it's in M11 and it's strictly better than Tranquil Domain!) You shouldn't be hardcasting your Terastodon anyway, and Brownscale's main purpose is lifegain, not being a bear.
As for competitiveness, honestly this is not the best deck in the format. If you're really good with this deck it will certainly win you quite a few games and nobody will have specific sideboard tech for you because we're relatively rogue. (However, the fact that Dredge exists can easily make us get hated by Leyline of the Void and such) If you're way pro like Mr. poppele, check your meta and see if a graveyard-based MBC deck would work or not. If you just wanna play something that looks more exciting than Zoo, (and doesn't need Tarmogoyf) This is probably a good choice too. Trying to win a big legacy event? This deck just won't do too well. The fact is as of right now, it has bad matchups with Zoo and other fast decks, and Dredge hate also hates on us.
Speaking of M11 stuff, though, not only does Grave Titan look great, but so does Primeval Titan. Corpse Dance for Primeval turn 5 can get you 4 swamps. 4! That's almost enough to pay for the bought-back Corpse Dance! And I thought the Twisted Abomination/Tortured Existence/Krovikan Horror engine was good! I'm testing one of each of Primeval and Grave in my deck right now. Of course this is the kind of testing that ruins budget-friendliness
I want to try this deck with Cabal Therapy. You can Buried Alive for 2 of them to strip them of something and abuse the nightmare effect at once.
Pros: Harder to remove than Carrion Feeder
Extra Protection
Potential 2 for 1
Cons: You have to say a name blindly most of the time.
Unlike Carrion Feeder, it's a 1 shot deal.
Buried Alive
Search your library for up to three creature cards and put them into your graveyard. Then shuffle your library.
Creatures only.
I've been 'fishing a version of this deck with the Haakon, Stromgald Scourge and Nameless Inversion. It seems to be an interesting combination, but I think it might end up better in a pox shell.
yeah i actually just had a facepalm moment, and i was about to edit my post. Haakon + Nameless Inversion is an extremely powerful combo IMO. Especially alongside Horror +Shriekmaw
'Goyfs are definitely too big for one Inversion but can't you just hit it twice if you have Haakon out?
EDIT: Just noticed the great synergy with Big Game Hunter and Tortured Existence. 2 mana, destroy target 'Goyf, get a card back form your 'yard, and 1/1 chump blocker. He has plenty of targets including: Tarmogoyf, Jotun Grunt, Knight of the Reliquary, Terravore, Rhox war Monk, Countryside Crusher, Phyrexian Dreadnought, Tombstalker, Emrakul(i think), Doran, pumped tribal creatures. Maybe he's worth a sideboard slot?
Why no Recurring Nightmare in this deck? It serves as a sac outlet and reanimates. Just wondering...
EDIT: I've continued reading through the posts in this thread and I have to say: Really freakin' cool. Here's my take on the deck. A few new addition have been made on my part but I don't really know if they're gonna pan out the way I'd like them to...
Sickening Dreams: Wipes the boards of early threats. Dumps utility critters/fatties into the grave.
Laquatu's Champion is the worst card in your deck, a 6 damage burn spell isnt what this deck needs, with recuring nightmare I would play something like Terastadon or The Morning Star
Carrion Feeders should be the new sca to srcy thing because you don't really need to attack but the deck filtering and a chump block seam important.
I also think a knight that you can tutor up with buried alive might be good. even if its just for a lot of chump blocks. still moon cavalier?
Is Hymn a possible 3 of? I was considering trying Bone Shredders since they can be Shriekmaw 5-(6). Should Brownscale be in the main? I think Butcher(even though he's slow) could do the job against monoB decks. Big Game Hunter can handle biggies like Tombstalker but not Dark Confidant so i guess that's a meta call. I'm still tinkering with my list, i'll post it tomorrow. I'll be able to test it on Sunday but i've been goldfishing it and I very much enjoy it.
Edit: Necroplasm could do the job against MonoB weenies
It's very toolboxy right now. I have one of each creature that I can fetch with Buried Alive (or Beseech the Queen) for certain situations. Fleshbag to get through shroud. Buthcer to target black creatures or when destroying isn't enough. Necroplasm to stall against weenies and sweep tokens. Fiend to handle decks with few creatures.
The sideboard is weird. I really think Hunter has potential so i'm having 2 there right now. Mesmeric Fiends are there for decks with few creatures. Butchers for black decks and decks that can recur creatures. Macabre is probably the best grave hate option for this deck as there's really nothing the opponent can do about it. Needle obviously handles a lot of problematic cards. My only problem is that I have no way to kill Leyline....I would splash white for Wispmare but i really don't like the interaction between fetchlands and Horror. Nevinyrral's Disk is slowwwwwww but an option maybe.
OH lol!
I missed the gy part, my bad.
Yea, LMS is right, it doesn't work.

Sickening Dreams: Wipes the boards of early threats. Dumps utility critters/fatties into the grave.
The Haakon, Stromgald Scourge/Nameless Inversion combo has been added. Shriekmaw is fine but we need to be able to target black critters. Faceless Butcher is fine but the investment in this particular combo is minimal and the benefits great IMHO.
Recurring Nightmare/Laquatus's Champion/Kokusho, the Evening's Star: As mentioned above, RN provides another sac outlet and reanimation. With RN in play, it becomes possible to Corpse Dance Kokusho, attack, sacrifice it to RN and then bring in Laquatus's Champion for a total of 11 to the dome. It's a nice finisher.
Thoughts?
21 Swamp
Creatures [17]
01 Thoughtpicker Witcher
03 Carrion Feeder
03 Mesmeric Fiend
01 Haakon, Stromgald Scourge
01 Faceless Butcher
03 Krovikan Horror

03 Buried Alive
02 Recurring Nightmare
03 Corpse Dance
02 Skeletal Scrying
Discard/Removal [8]
03 Sickening Dreams
02 Nameless Inversion
03 Duress
Carrion Feeders should be the new sca to srcy thing because you don't really need to attack but the deck filtering and a chump block seam important.

So what should be changed?
