I think a lot of you guys are missing a big part of legacy. Its randomness. Madness won last year. Who the F saw that coming. No one is the answer. This format is ever changing every week and new and powerful decks come out. I'm guess a frimilar face will win but 3 of the other decks that top8 will probably be new to this format for once put off as dead.
i completely agree with the top statement. it is randomness. and this year it is all pros playing.

I'm not predicting a winner but in going to say that most of you don't really have a idea on what decks can win and what decks cant win. THE cure, that deck really sucks BTW. Doesn't really stand a chance verse pro thres and combo decks and players.
i disagree with that statement.
hey this thread is just putting forth your best guess. doesnt matter if you are right or wrong. this is akin to like college basketball.... you call the winner before the tourney actually starts. it is all for fun etc. maybe people missed the point of the thread.
sorrel = TES
mystergoo = thres
Travy = solidarity
bradleyjx = sui-aggro
emidln = tendrils combo
cabal_chan = thres
yuanti = thres
finn = thres
cowboychuck = tendrils combo
glurman = 43 land
sergeantscruffy = belcher
spatulaoftheages = grb survival
top deck = the cure
complete_jank = bgw
who else is up for the top slot.... remember think college basketball... no one is going to care for an eternity on who you got winning. just like betting you win some and lose some.

That being the case...
60Forest.dec:rofl:
In a somewhat more serious light, I would have to say Threshold honestly. As much as I want to say randomawesometech.dec, it would have to be really good to wade through all the other decks there. And yes Top Deck, Cure goes in there. Who knows. Maybe if you get enough people to run it, you'll snag a T8.

You think I'm running tendrils combo in the mws tourney? I hope I play you round one I also have a BZK deck winning the tournament with 2/3 BZK decks being played (that I know of) in top8 for the record.
The title of the thread is "Decks that will win Worlds in Legacy this year."
So, I'm a bit offtopic, do you have a point? It was brought up in thread and thus responded to in the thread. It would seem that your pointing out the offtopicness and this reply here are much more offtopic than my "offending" post.

emidln what is BZK deck? i just went back through the different responses on the thread and you mentioned a tendrils combo deck would take worlds.
are you sticking with the tendrils based combo or you going for something else?

BZK is my team's name abbreviated. BZK decks are things we design. As I build hundreds of decks, there's a wide range of possibilities. Lately, I've been playing with fat aggro control (4 Goyf/4 Tombstalker/3 Dreadnought Thresh shell), 4c Tendrils, 5c Loam Control, and UGB Aggro Loam with Magus of the Moon. I'm playing one of those decks. I think that all of the people playing BZK decks are playing roughly the same list though, although I'm not sure about the guys that I talk to that aren't actual teammates.
I still think a pro playing 4c Fetchland Tendrils has the best shot to win worlds. Combo's ability to generate free wins is a huge bonus considering the amount of loam likely to be present. Ability to deal with Counterbalance and the other threats from blue-based aggro control is huge in combo right now. It wouldn't surprise me at all if a RGB mid-range deck playing Survival and/or Loam took it home though on the back of a strong aggro-control and control matchup.
And yes, no incantatrix for you. Or anyone. That class makes puppies cry. Mostly because they are the former Big Bads who have been Baleful Polymorphed into said puppies. By you. Because you're an incantatrix.

I suppose it's true. Though the logistics implied in a human/Great Wyrm Prismatic Dragon pairing makes me shudder.

Im going to say a player, Gearhart. Yes David Gearhart. I got to met him a mouth ago on the chat line and he showed me a couple of tricks he has with hightide that r unseen to most ppl. Ive taken the pointers he has given me and added it to my personal hightide deck. Its not as fast as tendrils is but it can react and counter the turn 2 kill with going over right under its own combo.
Im saying Hightide pulls it off with gearhart holding the cup.

Threshold and landstill will defintely be there at worlds since both of them are very potent decks. Also another guy that can play solidarity backwards, forwards, upside down and etc is probably michael J herbig always been a big fan of him.

Kevin
kevin you have to pick 1 not 2 or 3 decks. just like march madness you can't pick 2 or 4 teams to win it all.

I am probably going with UGR threshold with counterbalance + top. Considering counterbalance and top can win games on its own but I am not saying this is the case in every matchup though. Also you can pretty much find anything you want with cantrips and sensei's divining top.
I've looked over every deck that ever got a Standard T8 at worlds.
Every deck was well known by the mtg community before they were played.
I see no reason for this to happen. Pros play to win, by using the best decks.
hey yuan ti, i wanted to add this to the fuel. the pros create a lot of the decks that aren't well known. for example, sonic boom was created at the GP and now at worlds you have the new dragonstorm/swath deck.
most people here are ignorant of the fact that pros only share technology with other pros while observing not card selection, but engines.
the point i was going to make a long time ago was pros are going to do something different in legacy that you arent expecting because you have limited your mindset to the existing meta right now, AND most deckbuilders here focus way too much on card selection of this card is better than that card rather than focusing in on engines.
a pro will not say this is a "bad" card because they arent looking for multi-purpose cards. look at the red hideaway land they are using... most people in standard over-looked it because they said it was a "bad" card. LoL.
I think the point that is trying to be made is that there is a lack of drive to innovate for Legacy by any pro. As Legacy is not supported on the same level as, say, Standard, Pros who play for monetary gain have little to no need to innovate for Legacy. Why? Because it comes around so rarely for them that it isn't worth it.
I think all this hope on them coming out with some busted moves on the Legacy dancefloor is far too high. They'll make minor adjustments to a deck if need be, and play that.
Thier are several decks no one has mentioned yet, but are always strong contenders are Fish, Boros, and Countersliver. These are two very strong decks that do well in a variety of metagames. I would have to say in a straight race I would put down Countersliver as the deck to win it, as it contains a multitude of answers and hard to deal with creatures. But alas I doubt too many pros, if any, are going to play it. Instead I expect to see a lot of Thresh, Goblins, and probably some Boros, as from what I can tell, not too many pros have done serious play testing, which puts decks like solidarity and TEPS out of contention.

Wouldn't this actually up the chances of a deck like that winning? We know Pros like decks that reward the better player, so wouldn't those Pros that did test and play the more complicated decks have a better chance of winning?
I actually think the Pros that do put in that extra effort will define the future meta and will present an interesting deck for us to see.
I read on wizards site that in 2006 most players just took the safe route for the extended portion and went boros... I could see most pro's doing the same and defaulting to thresh but hopefully there are a few new innovations that pop up.

That's why I said in a straight race I would think Countersliver would win, but probably no one or so few people are going to play it that the field is going to be a lot of Thresh, Goblins, and Boros. As for what will win I have no idea, as thier is barely a metagame to speak of overall. As legacy has almost entirely local metagames.
i completely agree with the top statement. it is randomness. and this year it is all pros playing.
